  1. Hi, I've got a 99 Hilux, 2.7L 3rzfe with just over 300thous on the clock. Its a bit gutless which I know its meant to be...except I'm a detailer & have driven many similar cars which weren't this sluggish. Pretty keen on checking/adjusting/replacing the valve shims & have read a few online guides...but don't know where to get the new.shims from?? Nothing.came up on online shops & nothing on ebay. I imagine Toyota service department would have them but didn't want to pay a motsa for them. For those who've done it, did you remove everything, work out what you need & then order/buy them? Cheers
  2. Oops sorry. Yeah I'm going backwards a little, buying a late 80's/early 90's 3 door hatch of some sort with a 1.3L max engine...going to give it a bit of Euro style, drop it & wide wheels. Using that for a daily for this year then hopefully getting a new WRX or Liberty through the business (I own a car detailing workshop now). Soon as I have no need for the hatch I'm getting a Hayabusa engine & slotting it in...for now though just some ITB's or double barrell Holley carbs. :D
  3. Hi. Selling the Forester now, did a looooooooooooooooooooooot of work to it but since buying my own business it's sat on the sidelines. Would love to get another Aurion but I doubt it.
  4. Well since the Aurion is now gone & sold, there isn't much need for me to be here anymore. I may log on occasionally to see how these cars are going, but with work piling up on my desk & a lack of motivation, I don't think it will be very often. Thanks to everyone for their input, help & ideas. Was good to be one of the 'pioneers' of modifying an Aurion. I'm sure in a year or so it will be an artform & they will become more & more popular. Anyways, have a good one & don't let anyone bag you out for driving a 'Camry'... Andrew P.S - stop being pussies & crack the headlights open...I don't care that I'm not the only one anymore because I don't own it now.
  5. Does anyone else realise its a copy of the Suzuki Kizashi concept? On the Suzuki its hot, on the Aurion......its not.
  6. Why not buy THIS ONE Ill even throw in the grill for sh*ts & giggles.
  7. I've always seen a Rav4 as a hairdressers car? But it has been changing recently Same as the Camry is an old persons car + cardigan.
  8. Venza is essentially the current model Camry...but in wagon form & with some extra height & 4wd. Im almost certain the exterior dimensions are similar.
  9. Go to A Current Affair....hopefully they pay you something for it which can go towards a respray.

    ScanGauge II

Scangauge fits any modern car (after 1998 I think?) because they all have the OBDII plug.
  11. My car as is right now (2006 sx6 43k kms) is apparently only worth $18,000 to a car yard...Privately Im being told $24-26,000 Worst part about an Aurion is they are a fleet vehicle, and right now all the Government, Hire cars & business leases are up and they are being traded in. So our good quality cars are being 'depreciated' by all these other ones.
  12. Street racing is bad m-kay......
  13. No one spotted me in Perth over the weekend?? I saw a Gold Aurion at Sheperdson (?) Road & Albany Hwy intersection. 'AURION888' were the plates. Was going to wave but I was eating & turning at the same time.
  14. Im going to go out on a limb & say colour-coded is better...sorry.
  15. I used Meguiars 'Hot Rims' (or wheels) which was good. Depending on the rim you can just spray it on, soak then scrub with an old dish washing brush & hose off.
  16. So excited over eyelids..... Good luck boys. I cant take part in the 2nd group buy either.
  17. No no no no no no no no, dont mask it on the car, you'll get overspray & everything all over the car. Its really not hard to pop out. I took the boot liner off the lid on my car & pushed a small Allen key onto the pins on the back of the badge so it lifted it up. I also used one of those silicon cake mix scape things to get underneath while cutting along the mounting tape. When painting I only lightly sanded, then just put on layer after layer of black. Re-mounting it I folded newspaper into a square, sat it over the badge & tightly taped some masking tape over the top. Tape directly onto the badge could peel off the paint. Leave it in the sun for a few hours & it should be fine. I didnt add any more mounting tape, just used what was already on the badge. I've done that twice now & it doesnt even feel loose.
  18. Farewell Bondie, Good chatting with you & good on you for being a pioneer with the Aurion. Shame we didnt get to see the final product. Hope all goes well.
  19. Good job, welcome to the Early-20's Aurion club.
  20. I haven't done anything just cos Daryl's done it. In fact the only thing we both have in common is the sports grill (I think I had mine first, but everyones got one now so it doesn't count) & bypassed intake path which I saw on ToyotaNation before I saw that he had done it as well.
