  1. TRD CAI, sportivo grille, Xforce muffler(sitting in the garage......too loud). Next few weeks should be getting it lowered when the Eibach springs arrive. Thats about it for now. Next week some time when i have a free day ill make the eyelids using the headlight protectors as shaping moulds for the fibre glass, then get them painted. Keep you posted on how it works out.

  2. i'm confused. should we or shouldnt we alter the exhaust system at all?

If you start mucking around with the whole exhaust system you must be sure it's in reliable hands. As for the free flowing muffler, you might loose a bit of low end torque, but youre more than likely going to gain some top end power. Since low end torque is low, its not a big loss and its minimal, i couldnt feel it, and youre better off having more top end since our cars are all about top end anyway. But like you i am uncertain as to put the Xforce back on, i mean this guy wants to replace my resonator, and maybe put 2 if needed, so i am confused also . I know i spent 270 so far, maybe i should stop before it gets out of hand...........hmmmm :unsure:

  3. Ok. ive got the original one back in, and i am happy about the noise, but i have losta bit of power, particulaly in the top end. I could feel it on the way home, quite a bit of difference, maybe coz of the noise level too. Im going back in friday, he will replace the stock resonator with a different one, maybe put two. They are free flowing so performance should not be affected. All i can say is that the exhaust system is pretty complicated for our cars  .

  4. BTW lucio_libre, ask them what they can do to lower the noise in cabin. i kno that good xhaust shops can put in resonators which lower the noise level in the cabin significantly. when i was inquiring for an exhaust in my vectra they where gonna fit it with a 30" long (not wide) resonator.

The car is alreadt fitted with a 12 inch resonator man, im going back this afternoon to see what he can do, he might be able to fit a wider resonator with more crap inside it, to quieten her down. I must admit, low end doesent feel any different, but top end feels quicker.

  5. Ok, ive had the muffler for one night, looks totally awesome but tomorrow morning im putting the original back on, simply because of the noise levels, and to be honest, the original one has a really nice sporting sound to it, the xforce is good at idle and when taking off, after that you cant hear a thing. At 2000 revs, it is ridiculous. In lift, it is absolutely insane, you could hear me from kilometers. I went to the casino tonite, and had the pleasure to set off a few alarms just by cruising around looking for a carpark ;) . I love noise, but i wana be able to listen to the radio on the freeway without having to crank it up3/4. For power, it doesent feel like ive gained anything apart from noise, i cant even hear my cold air working, in fact i think at lower revs i might be lacking a few ponies, which is what i dont wanna lose, low end power. Where are those ear muffs??:unsure:

The muffler is a xforce python

  6. I got my muffler today, 270 fitted, twin pipe free flow. Looks awesome with the chrome finish, but whats even more impressive is the awesome sound :D . At 2000 revs i think EPA would do me, at idle it sounds crazy, burbling away, once it gets past 4 grand the windows must be closed and the music loud, i wont even describe lift. Ahhh my BIG YAMAHA bike :D.

  7. One of my mates had one, it had a 4 speed auto. At the time i had an 85 celica with the 2.4 engine auto. We had a drag and we were even till about 180, then we backed off. I would say an auto would hit 100 in around 11 secs and quarther about 18, slash a second or two for the manual.

  8. Just wondering if any of you guys read the 2 page layout in the Melbourne Herald Sun motoring section about the fast toyotas. They mention the turbo echo, turbo MRS and Lexus IS430. They also mention TTE is working on a supercharger kit for the corolla to boost power to 165 kW and top speed of 265kph, even though there is a typo in the article saying 165kph, so i take it 265kph is more the figure. best news of all is that parts will be available through Neal Bates' shop, Canberra. Oh, almost forgot, they wont be cheap <_< .

  9. I wouldnt call our tyres crappy, they are bridgestones made in france, very soft, good all round grip, and easy to smoke  . They wont last long because they are a performance tyre, but i found them very quiet.

  10. The TRD unit gets loud around 4k's, deep burble, and at idle it sounds like a vaccum cleaner. Anyways the sound when changing gears is awesome, that split second between shifts makes the sound crazy once hitting lift again. I took a mate in the car and he was very impressed by it's performance. He weighs about 110 to 120k's we had 4 fising rods, bait etc, 7 kilos of rainbow trout, the whole car was chockers, and he couldnt believe how fast it got to 180. I love the race car sounds it makes :D .
