  1. toyota Hybrids make up more than 80% of the cabs in Townsville and Cairns and now over 55% of Brisbane cab fleets. Both Prius and Hybrid Camry - Makes business sense, lot less fuel, great room, great levels of comfort, and with LPG over 85c/l, it is no longer a competitor by any stretch, not with the standard comfort features, power and performance etc.
  2. one of the problems those of you may be facing with dust... even if you use Fresh mode, to reduce negative pressure in the cabin and not suck dust in, is an automatic switchover feature that Toyota air/con units feature, which switches from fresh to recirc automatically after 3 minutes of equalised temperature - your local dealership should be able to disable this. Generaly this is designed to save you fuel use etc - but is not relevant in a LC etc.
  3. ...... How many of you have come from 60, 80 and 100 series cruisers? Do you have more power? Another Turbo perhaps? A lot more weight and options and specification in the Cruiser now? Its a Twin Turbo V8 diesel ffs... People ARE getting close to the AD/R regulated fuel use on the LC200, I myself have not, but I like to flog it a bit, the power of that 4.5L v8 is insane. ;) Only 2 vehicles I have driven actually come close to the correct fuel consumation according to the Lab Tested AD/R conditions (and quite frankly if ANY of you EVER expect to achive those exact fuel figure you are a complete goose, check Nissan, Holden, ANY other mfgr, it is the same story, the AD/R fuel use is to give a COMPARISON ONLY!) have been the Petrol V8 Cruiser - Driving from Cairns to Rocky, stopping in Cairns, Tully, Townsville, Ayr, Mackay etc and stopping overnight 3 times and driving around city centre, certainly not babying it, I achieved 14.7L/100klm which i was happy with. Same deal for Prius, have achieved 930klm from one 45L fuel tank, with the way I drive i was extremely impressed with this... The Land Cruiser is designed for a world wide market, the 5th and 6th gears are OVERdrive ratios... If you don't get to use the 6th gear then its just like having a 5 gear auto... this is how it was designed.. not reliant on using all gears... Lot of countries have higher speed limits or no speed limits in some areas whereas Australia has basically now got speed restrictions everwhere... 1. Compare it to previous fuel use of other cruiser's 2. Compare the power and engine set-up and what do you think would be suitable fuel use? 3. Can the competition provide anything close to what Toyota has provided? I'm happy, it drives well, tow's like there is nothing there, off road is unbeatable and loves nothing more than pulling Nissan's out of the bush and sad. ;)
  4. Toyota is the most overly cautious Auto Manufacturer on the planet... 3/4 of toyota recalls are due to Toyota's own decision, and rarely do major issues go to an official recall... ie: 4 week hold/recall on Rav4 V6 for "ECU Re-tuning", 2 weeks hold/stop on TD Land Cruiser on week of release because of "fuel quality problems", and don't forget the absolute balls up of TRD Aurion Release - over 2 months of complete Stop Sell because ONE, thats right, one and one only, engine stuffed up and turned out it was a driver error issue.... ;) More than likely your rolla is all good and they are just chekcing to make sure. Beats hell out of waiting for your vehicle and 50 other to stuff up, warranting complaints to dealers, customer serivce, insurance claims and THEN Toyota doing an "enforced" recall ;) Have a great day! :)
  5. Toyota ALWAYS understates the fuel tanks... You will always be reading 0 klms left before empty and there will be craploads left. ;) The TRD I been driving for a few months never needs more than 55L (70L tank) even if light flashing and saying 0 klms left. lol Hey, better to err on the side of Caution, Toyota plays it safe! ;)
