  1. Good theory there. For a majority of travellers around here in Brisbane, the only stretch of road we have that would be close to that one in your first photo, would be these sections we have of the M1. They opted for cement sections of road instead of asphalt and whenever you go over the joining sections (at 110km/h) you definitely feel a little bounce. Apart from that, our roads aren't too bad. There are some pretty bad areas though where the road just doesn't get fixed. With that now said i can definatly agree... even in the ATX those concrete roads up and down the coast feeling like your driving on a 4WD track...
  2. Isn't the idea of having a Sportivo version to have the firmer suspension though... I have an ATX and am forever complaining about how spongy it feels... Just my two cents though
  3. Cheers again Darryl, I actually had a bit more of a look at it when i got home and saw the clips on the carpet but could get online to retract the thread i'll be more careful next time. When you replaced the glove box light did you have to remove the glove box completly or am i failing to see an easier way....
  4. Does anyone know how to change the number plate lights? Have had a poke around and couldn't figure out how the come out and did a quick search and could find a thread for the Aurions!!!
  5. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=18963 Cheers lateralus
  6. Did't realise they had wound up production, any idea why? i.e. not enough demand
  7. Suspension man all wider rims are going to do is add to the look if you want better handling you'll need to fix the standard suspension up. By the way just ordered my Ultra racing strut brace and he is out till Feb... Oh well no holiday jobs on the car for me :(
  8. There's one more way to do it more effectively, Park Brake Off, Start Engine, Park brake on, brake, brake, Park Brake off, Hold down brak, Park brake on and off twice, Park brake on, brake, brake. Wallah...LOL True, But thats only when you want to have heaps of fun
  9. I agree with TRD Aurion Owner, in my experience I have found that driving style has a lot to do with it. A freind of mine that is a Toyota mechanic said the Transmission ECU relearns your driving patterns in 15min intervals and adjusts the transmission to give the best performance for that style. If I decided to give it the boot after driving sensible i normally find the car is very slow to respond and the gear changes are very sloppy. I found the only way to rectify the issue is to drive in manual mode and do changes yourself for for a few minute and by this time i find the ECU figures out that I want to have fun
  10. Agreed I was just gobsmacked when he told me about it but as you said if you don't drive a FWD and have half an idea how to accelerate and take corners you won't have any problems...
  11. I have got my Aurion ATX up to 230km/h and still had something left in the pedal no speed limit by what i am aware
  12. It comes directly from a cop and was backed up by the assistant commissioner of the Gold coast police. I don't know specifics (when, were and how many) but i do know a report was lodged and back stating that the cars had to much tourque steer to be used by police and even though cops loved the cars they decided it would be safer to go to SS or alike. In saying that they will be staggering the change over so don't jump yet. I'll make a few calls over the couple th week and see if i can get any more info.
  13. i would go for it if i had the money. If you miss it as well there will be a lot more mate me mine is a cop and was saying before june next year the cop's will be phasing out all trd aurion cause the don't like the tourqe steer... So lots of bargains will be up for grab... P.s posting from my phone so sorry it's fragmented
  14. Correct me If i am wrong but didn't It only get a four because Toyota refused to allow the final test to take place I thought I read somewhere that they actually finally had the test done in the end, but it didn't change the rating? Maybe just misread it, or got bad info lol I could be behind in my info man it was just something i read A while ago but it could have changed since then.
  15. I have now done just over 5000k in my 200 GXL TD and have a trip to the Centre coming up (later this month) so will have a better idea after then. So far so good. Love the engine and the overall performance, including towing a fairly heavy camper trailer on occasion. Has used more oil than my previous 2003 TD Hilux (and much earlier 1984 60 series diesel) and hope this settles down as some have suggested will occur. Would rather a manual (my first ever auto in 38 years of driving) but times change I suppose. General interior fit out is okay but my (also) previous) TD 2 litre VW Golf had better features and finish, e.g., fairly ordinary plastics, no controls on the steering wheel despite the radio/CD obviously being designed for these (hence tiny fiddly controls). No power outlet in the boot (are they kidding? - the Golf had one). What off road stuff I've done so far has been very impressive. I'm glad I have the 138 litre tank, by the way and not the smaller capacity of some of the other 200's. Overall, an awesome vehicle which I would buy again, but time will tell. At the moment, feels bullet proof and inspires confidence. Good around town too (grudgingly acknowledging the ease of the auto in traffic). Finally, standard tyres are rubbish - will replace with Coopers after 20k. Had two sets of STs on the Hilux (fantastic) but may try ATRs. Hope this helps but haven't driven a Sahara. Steve Cheers man give let me know how you find it during your trip.. Think my mind is made up to go for it though!!!
  16. They will decrease the smoothness, but if you get a good low profile tyre you will hardly know the difference, espically because your looking at 19's. I had Toyo's and they were alot smoother than Nankangs. Only due to fit my 20's properly, i had to change them to nankangs. Go 20's, the price range wont be that more, and it will be a bigger rim that will still fit with the right tyre. Although if you get a 19inch with alot of surface on the face of the rim and with a little dish, it will give the illusion of looking bigger. The deepeer the dish the smaller the rim looks from the side of the car. Then again if you lower your vehicle, the car will make your rims look bigger. Ive had 22"s with huge dish and they seriously looked like 19's because of the illusion, the dish was giving off. There is heaps of Sh*t to consider when buying new rims for ya beast. Different rims suits different cars. A sic looking set of rims wont always look good on every car. Goodluck buddy. Thanks for that.... Was scared that 20s wouldn't fit ... The wheels I am really liking are destino deluxe rims 19" by 8.5" ....will find a photo and post up Just be careful with the 20's have been looking for mags currently and some people are telling me it's illigal to have them fitted and some are saying it's all good as long as the height and load rating are correct... Bondie do you know what the rules are up in QLD
  17. Correct me If i am wrong but didn't It only get a four because Toyota refused to allow the final test to take place
  18. Congratulations on the purchase mate.. You won't be dissappointed i assure you.
  19. That looks mad man!!! really suits the front bar
  20. With great difficulty... the fog lights i mean, Installed Driving lights on my ATX about a month ago and pulled apart my mothers car which is a Aurion Touring the way the lights are fixed are with two brackets about 30cm long which anchor to two points back in the engine bay.. Really weird setup and you can't buy the mounting brackets from toyota without the light attached.. I'll take some pics through the day of how i attached my lights to give you an idea and post them up tonight!!!
  21. I am imagining you ment Thrashed not trashed can just imagine trashing the car and still buying.... LOL :P
  22. You are a ****** man. Do have nothing better to do with your time then come on here and dribble ****. When you can string a full sentence together and have a car bigger than the size of your 1" ***** come back and talk to us then!!! Anyway now that Turd has gone for a short amount of time back on Topic. Jin have you decided whether your leaving the grill open or modding it further with badges and what not to fill up the some of the space.
  23. Looks great DJKOR. I definatly have to get off my ***** and do mine sometime soon.... Think even with a new grill though I am going to keep the side Aurion Badging and also the Toyota badges on the front and back.. When I get round to it I'll photo shop my idea for the front mesh grill I have rekon It'll give a sporty look but put a badge and body colour hub to mount it on won't make it look too plain.
  24. Well since everyone's doin it here goes, My name is Damian but the only time I have ever been called that is when I was younger and in troble with the folks, So everyone just calls me D or Damo AGE: 24 SEX: Male Status: Single and wouldn't have it any other way!!! Reason for buying: Pretty simple really It good for work and play. I work as a sales rep and do a bit of DJing and MCing at small suburban night clubs on the north side of Brissy. So i really needed a comfortable car with a big boot for equipment and stock for my primary job and finally cause in my day job I drive all day my choice needed to be fuel efficent and most importantly had to be or have the ability to look sexy for the night work and driving (I'll leave it to everyones imagination why thats important). So any way I looked at the Aurion It looks nice stock but i see huge potential for customization hence the reason i went for the base ATX. Also checked all the boxes of practicality and ability to be used as a work. Test drove it found out they actually had guts and that you could play with it as well, instantly fell in love signed the paperwork that afternoon and took it home for that weekend. Never looked back....
  25. DJKOR didn't realise just replacing the tips could make that much difference... looks great
