  2. bringing it home from sydney i got the link bars, tank and chassis painted to tidy it up it has a list of mods i could list but is way to long.....its the little things that people don't notice like the 99 lux headlights grafted into the tub and the recessed headlights to fit behind the phantom grill that shows every little pice of this ute has been modded :-)
  3. Hey everyone!! Some of you might have checked out my bagged and bodied toyota surf on here, well i have recently been getting stuck into my 89 toyota hilux as well with the help of my mate at customworks, Mr Richard :-) the frame was built at customeworks and and very happy with the result! The bodydrop was also done by them! I'm in the middle of doing all the tidying up, interior and EFI'ing the motor for a cleaner look...here are some pics of it so far
  4. heres my surf next to jays lux YEAH YEAH YEAH
  5. ok, ventured to Sydney this weekend.......and got stuck into my surf! finished the front tubs, welded on new rad support, scalloped the bonnet so it would fit over the tubs and fitted all the front end up!!! i'm stoked with the way it came up!!!! my new BOX-TER engine LOL my new control arms :-) still a bit to tidy up, made the front tubs so all the headlight wiring can't be seen to make it a little neater ;-)
  6. Cheers guys.....i will have some more updates after this weekend!!!!! :-)
  7. ok....some more goodies arrived!!! Had to get new upper tube arms as i lent my ex my set for her bagged and bodydropped lux and as it states she is my "EX" now so they are long gone!!! lol Got them from the same place CANDO specialties in the states...steve is a top guy and had them to me within two weeks :-) http://www.candospecialties.com oh and did i mention i have an addiction for billet.....so i got my little fix this week to aircon vents
  8. well i was going black bottom, red top! But that changes everytime i see a new coulour ect...its along way off paint though!! I have a bit of body work to do and get the engine mounted and wired! was also talking to bullet about a possible supercharger for it! But trying to keep this engine under a stock hood with an over 80mm bd is going to be hard anyway!
  9. hey all!!! well got this thing all passed, engineered and on the road!!! but have since sold it to fund another one of my projects...(which shamly is a bagged honda accord wagon haha) but here are some more pics of it while i had it and before i sold it:-) Dam i miss it!!!!
  10. THEN.................. the new body!!!!!!!!!! from this to this to this a few other goodies are the engine, new control arms, sump and engine mounts :-)
  11. well i thought it was about time i put up some more progress!!!! well the chassis is pretty much finished, grafted another toyota hilux front end on from the Z forward as i was not happy with the old one! Also added alot of tube into the rear for strength :-) relocated cab monts to allow for the toyota surf body! 40mm Z to allow the frame to lay flat when aired out (this obviously isn't finished in this pic) Club logo gussets (No Regrets) dropped front frame horns to allow for the Bodydrop and the Z time for the Bodydrop so the body also lays flat on the ground tubbed the rear but not really happy with it so it may change
  12. Well the new rear clip was made and welded this weekend! came up really good! Big thanks has to go to Richard from customworks in Sydney for flying up and do it for me!!! CHAMP!!! We haven't mounted the crossmember or shocks yet as we plan to incorperate them into the tube work which will be going in the rear clip shortly The new cantilever 4 link! Made but richard at customworks All the 4 link tabs were TIG welded 4 link tabs were welded to the diff In the arvo its relax time...HELLO RICHARD hahahaha And then the arvo was followed by this
  13. hahaha! got the all clear form the engineer today so going to strat detailing the chassis to give it that smooth clean look!! figers crossed you'll see this rolling around the Gold Coast by september
  14. ok, got the shocks mounted today, they are adjustable shocks for a stiffer ride! also got the guage, switches and wiring all done!! So its one step closer to being on the road!!! Two rocker switchs, almost looks like they are suppose to be there and small dual needle viair guage will get pics up of the shocks soon
  15. yeah they are!! was going to go with the 1j but mods to the firewall had to made to sqeeze it in!! As for trentmeyer23's question. to get it another 3inches lower, you cut out the floor pan and lower the cab over the cassis 3inch, remove the pinch and weld a filler in! then plate the sides of the floor and there you have it!! I love body drops....even they are becoming more and more common!!
  16. yeah mate, you sure did!!!!
  17. haha i don't mind!!! will have new picks of the new rear end in 3 weeks!!
  18. Thanks phobia!! i actually looked at your build 1st when i signed up and and was really impressed!! Another person who isn't doing the normal!! Congrats on your ride bro! Yeah rolla boy......no matter what you do it goes out of date so fast!! Its hard keeping up with the trends but we all try to!! hahaha What ride are you two toning??
  19. I'm running the 2000 model tacoma front end...Vagas is running the newer one which is different!! Suits the newer model but as for the 89-96 models i think it would look ugly on them! I wanted two tone but now that i look around everyone is doing it these days so i have to aim for something a little different...i do have a few ideas but i'm along way away from paint!!!
  20. i wanted it lower!! I wanted to remove the pinch and lay the rear bar completly on the ground but the tailshaft and slip yoke just won't let it, starts to bind!! I'm happy with the way it sits on the pinch though! I'll get some interior pics soon!! Running four 12in subs, splits, 6x9's a 7inch lcd up front and a 22inch in the rear and playstation 2 for those long drives! Oh and "blind kid seeks", i don't think i will be spending much time straightening it out, i built it to drag the ***** along the ground and not care, as for my Bagged surf....i've already spent some long nights on that one!!!!
  21. cheers for the comments! I'm doing a 3inch body drop so it will sit 3inches lower than the maroon and white one in the pic!!! Can't wait to roll this...its been a long time coming!!! hahahaha Has anyone got any recommendation on the wiring on the V8 engine??? Around the Gold Coast, brissy area!!! I love the sound the lexus v8's give out!
  22. cheers for the comments guys!!! i'll get some more pics up soon after engineer has been!!!
  23. cheers guys. its a big project as there are only 3 of these surfs on the road in Australia!! Rear clip goes on in a month and then its time to do the body swap! Got mandrel bent rails from Mac Bros racing for the rear and it is getting cliped with a tuckshop/customworks cantilever rear clip!! Mandrel bent rails to lay on 22's the tuckshop/customworks rear clip
  24. Well i picked this bus up about a year ago after my truck was done over by qld transport as my daily for $1000 as you can see. its not that straight! I then decided to bag the rear as i like to be a little different with my projects....its a great cruise car for those minitruck cruises 1000's of KM away!! and the best party bus!! It also has 1989 cadillac tail lights frenched into the rear! for that custom look!! I know its pretty stupid but i like it!!! Let me know what you guys think!!! Cheers Jack
  25. Ok guys some of you may remember my old truck....white extra cab lux, caddies many know it as the Jac455 truck! Well it was defected by Qld transport just after hwh 06! So ever since my aim was to build something better and roll it on the coast with my chin high!! I sold off the tray, engine, some panels and the interior out of JAC455! i then picked myself up a 1991 2 door surf, yet after some uming and aring......decieded that the panel damage on the 2 door was to extencive to repair and timewise would probably not see the road for another 3 years!!!! I then went on the search for a straight 4 door surf which i found on ebay and bought!! I have used the chassis out of JAC455 for the surf chassis although many changes have been made, like shortening the chassis 410mm to accomidate for the fixure of the surf body, was rear clipped yet i have chosen to go with a canti setup which dicko at customworks will be taking care of! also the frame has been Z'd 40mm and front horns dropped 113mm to allow for the Z and a 3inch body drop! a lexus 1uzfe now sits between the rails where the good old 22r used to chug along! Looking deeper you can see that a set of castlemain rodshop engine mounts have been used and v8 crown exhaust manifolds! As far as the suspension up front goes......it has Cando tubular upper and lower control arms, slam bags and 2 inch drop spindles! I have used slotted rotors but am looking into upgrading the brakes and rear discs in the near future!!! heare are some pics of the progress.......this has been top secret for the past to years yet i want share with you all as different opinions are always welcome!!!!!! THE OLD JAC455 THE NEW JAC455 the new body!!! Wanted to run something a little different to the surf grill and headlights so i got my hands on a 99 toyota tacoma billet grill, headlights and corner lights from the USA (taco's are the american hilux)... also had the corners of the fenders sent over so i can graft them into the 89-96 surf guards!!! big job but well worth it i think!!! Tacoma grill, flush headlights and corner lights Got a few goodies for the surf!!! will keep you guys updated!!!! Let me know what you think!! Cheers Jack P.s. This is the look i'm after, this is Jimboots form NSW's toyota surf!! He has helped me heaps along the way!
