  1. Hi guys, I’ve never done coolant flush before. Is this the correct method? • Open radiator cap and drain plug. • When completely drained, tighten drain plug back, and place heater temperature to maximum position so heater core will also be flushed. • Disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator, then place a garden hose in the upper radiator inlet and flush until the water runs clear out of the upper radiator hose. • Add 50/50 of Toyota coolant and distilled water till radiator is full. • Gently squeeze radiator hoses to get rid of air in the system, add more coolant if necessary. • Install radiator cap, and run the engine till it gets to its normal operating engine temperature. • Turn off engine and let it cool. Add more coolant mixture if necessary. Is this correct? And will the coolant in the reservoir be drain once the drain plug of the radiator is open? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  2. Is it just the rear break pads that needs changing? I'm having the same problem. I didn't use the handbrake overnight, and didn't hear the metal grinding noise in the morning. Not sure if it is the handbrake or brake pads. What is it?
  3. I have the exact model. It’s a good and reliable car. But lacks safety features such as curtain (side) and passenger air bags, ABS, and ESC. This car is light, on a windy day the wind can slightly move this car, especially if you are on a freeway - it's.......... scary. Unless if you have obese passengers of course. No problem since I bought it (Nov 08). Hope this helps.
  4. Took my car to Ultratune – the mechanic said the transmission fluid needs to be change. It needs to be flush, and the transmission cooler also needs to be change for a total cost of $280 . The colour of the transmission fluid is sort of like light purple, but the mechanic said “It looks black to me. ” I’ve read in another forum; • Flushes will do more harm than good. • Toyota Transmission fluid tends to disclolour very quickly, so having a light purple fluid wouldn’t matter. Should I have mine change? Your opinions will be highly appreciated.
  5. Anyone from North-Western suburb of Melbourne? Teach me how to change the in-tank fuel filter, and I'll pay $50.00
  6. I’ve been overfilling my corolla since the day I bought her – November last year. I fill her up every Tuesday with BP Ultimate (5 clicks) and she loves it. I’ve noticed with BP Ultimate, the first click always happens a lot quicker than using the other 2 unleaded.
  7. Same here with my Corolla and it's auto:) Correct me if I'm wrong, those nulon fuel injection are $12-$13 each right? I would rather spend that money on petrol ;)
  8. I’m having second thought about getting CAI. What about performance exhaust system, would that increase the fuel consumption?
  9. Thanks, you've saved me $$$. I was going to take it to Toyota sometime this week, but I'll be taking my time:)
  10. Out of curiosity, what would happen if I don't get it fix? I'm not a technical person.
  11. The brake is difficult to apply only if I fully hold on the brake for 10 seconds. It can also be difficult to apply if I keep stepping on the brake on & off, on & off, and so on, then at some point it will be difficult to apply. The rpm does not go up and down when i play with the brake pedal, but the idle does sound funny only at the first star up of the day. Do you guys think the vacuum/ brake booster or its hose has a leak? Does it sound like it’s a job for Toyota mechanics? How much $$$ do you guys think it’s going to cost me?
  12. It’s auto and it doesn’t have ABS - Not sure what you mean by pulse, but there’s nothing wrong when braking. I’ve already played with brakes, and the sound does go when my foot is off and it comes back when my foot is on (but not straight away – few seconds)
  13. It does sound like a leak, but it’s more of a robotic shhhhhhhhh. The motor noise does not go over the sound. It goes away when I drive off or when the gear is on [N]. I only hear that sound when my foot is holding on the brake.
  14. :/ The sound is really hard to explain. A bomb falling really is the best way I can explain. Fukk me, I may have to take it to Toyota :/ trdsaads :) - experience?
  15. Need Help, After my 2005 Corolla reaches its normal engine temperature, it makes a strange sound whenever it stops. It sounds like it’s under pressure or like a bomb falling. The sound goes away while driving or when the gear is on [N]. Does anyone know this problem?
  16. so, do you guys have that extra layer of rubber?
  17. Bought a 2005 Corolla last week. I love driving it, it’s very comfortable. It sounds like a tram (electrical) but BP Ultimate is taking care of that slowly – I’m starting to hear more engine power. My only concern is the radiator hose (see attachment) it has a double layer of rubber meaning this hose burst, and that extra layer is covering it. That’s what happened to my old car. I went to a Toyota Dealer and ask them about it and they said “it’s normal, that’s just the way it is,” ‘fukk me!’ This car was inspected by mechanic before I bought it, he also said it’s normal. Again fukk me! What do you guys think?
  18. ok, I'll walk away from any Sportivo. Just Ascent or Ultima.
  19. ooops.. wrong Ctrl + C, wrong Ctrl + V. You’re damn right! With respect, I’m no engine head. I’m a computer artist. I admire your corolla knowledge. Basic maintenance, I’ll do it myself. My car overheated on Tuesday. Weather temp just mid 30s Apologies if this is a stupid question. Assuming there is no problem with either car, which model is better: 2002 TOYOTA COROLLA ZZE122R Ascent - 127,600 km or 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA AE112R Ascent - 108,730 km
  20. Need Info corolla experts, I was happily going to buy this car '2000 TOYOTA COROLLA AE112R Ascent' (private seller) till I rang Toyota and found out it's imported. Down goes my hopes. - Are the parts hard to find here in Melb, Aus? - Is the maintenance expensive? - How well can it handle Australia's hot weather? Does the indicator of the engine temperature stays in the middle? Or does it goes up and down? - Is it reliable like Corollas made in Australia? - What is actually imported? The engine or the body of the car? - Is there anything else I need to know? I'm going to see the seller this Saturday. Need honest answers before Saturday. kind regards, ussmc
  21. Not sure what you mean? Are some Corollas imported? Is the 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA ASCENT imported? Apologies for this dumb question.
  22. Whatever Melbourne dealers are selling. I want to trade my 1997 Holden Calibra V6. So what do you think of the 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA ASCENT -http://carsguide.news.com.au/site/search/v...p;vehicleType=1 Do you know what its normal engine temperature? Reason why I'm asking is because my Calibra's normal engine temperature goes up to 100 degrees, that's just a quarter away from overheating. I have to be always alert on the temperature of that car. :( recently it went over it.
