  1. Hi, I have an 08 Camry in NZ with black fabric seats. 140,00Km. Seats are in good nik, but just wondering if I should get seat covers or if they are likely to last a while without. What is peoples experiences?
  2. I have a 2001 4Cyl Camry Auto that had the fuel pump, fuel filter and injectors professionally cleaned and serviced 3 months ago and now it has again developed a stalling and missing issue that resulted in the last fuel pump dying. I can be driving along at 80km on 2000 rpm on flat road and it stalls or almost stalls and the throttle has to be gently feathered to get the revs back to normal. It also usually hesitates and stalls or looses power under load on hills. Being Auto I chuck it into Neutral and it starts straight away. It will then usually continue to run for 5 or up to 10 minutes until it happens again. The car always has at least 1/4 of a tank of petrol although I do use ethanol fuels. The mechanic who fixed it last time says the injector service ultimately rectified the problem last time (but he is 1.5hr drive away). I have checked the sock filter on the fuel pump and it was clean and undamaged so I dont think it is worth replacing a 3 month old fuel filter. Does anyone have any other suggestions or have other owners experienced this and what was the solution?
  3. Hi, I have a 2003 Toyota Camry Ateva, 4 SPD Auto, 2.4L Model: ACV36R-DEPNKQ. Engine: 2AZ-FE VIN: 6T153BK360X012305. I recently took my car to the dealer to have a dead instrument cluster checked out. After leaving, I noticed the AC light blinking when turned on.Not sure if this was a result of them removing fuses to diagnose the cluster meter fault that tripped the system or something entirely different. General reading online suggests that the relay/fuse may need to be reset/replaced or possible refrigerant top up. Can someone please offer insight into this issue with solutions or explain how to identify the correct relay/fuse that needs to be reset/replaced? On a side note, can anyone recommend an online parts store that sells cluster meters for the aforementioned vehicle model? Thank you.
  4. Hey everyone! I go by OJ, I live in Melbourne, and I currently own a 1999 MCV20R Camry Touring. I’ve had it for a few years and I gotta say, these V6 Camrys are awesome to drive, despite most people my age (I’m 22) suggesting they’re slow as hell. Have another MCV20R that’s been in the family for a long time, so when it came to buying my own daily, there really was no other contender. Anyway, I’ve recently gotten hooked on the idea of doing the old Camry up a bit and make it look a bit sleeker and nicer, so expect some questions about things like wheel fitment and swapping parts over and things of that nature. I’ve also recently gotten interested in getting a Z20 Soarer as a project/weekend type car. Big thing with this idea is to engine swap a 1JZ into it. So I’ll probably be making posts asking about specific specs and things I might need to know in order to do the swap properly. The Soarer is more of just an idea at the moment and I really want to make sure I’ll be doing it right. I hope I can count on this groups collective knowledge to make sure I don’t butcher it 😂. Looking forward to talking with you all.

  6. Hi all, New to the Camry and this forum. I would have never thought of buying a Camry until this new model came out. They are a stunning car and have certainly gone away from the boring nanna / poppa car. We bought the new 2019 SL Hybrid.....what a car! I do only have 1 gripe about it.....the navigation system is absolute crap and the UI in my opinion is a -1/10. And the Toyota Link app, is just as bad. Does anyone know if / when an update for it to have either apple maps, or google maps is coming? This is all my opinion.
  7. Hey Guys, I have a weird problem with my ABS in Toyota Camry MCV36R 2004. In the morning, there is no light, even if I drive or start-stop the engine many times. But after driving for a while, the ABS light comes on and stays on. If I leave the car for a couple of hours, it goes away again. What do you reckon is the issue?
  8. Hi all. I have just picked up a base model 1999 v6 Camry. I was wondering how hard is it to fit cruise control to these cars and where is the best place to source the kits (if available). Thanks in advance
  9. 1996 Toyota Camry for sale. This car doesn't miss a beat in the 21 years I've had the pleasure to drive it. Fully serviced throughout its life. Fully shedded up to 12mths ago due to change in lifestyle. Has done many awesome kilometres together as this car is not shy to go on a big trip or just nip to the shops. Excellent first car for learner or needing a cheap reliable vehicle for some big trip or just to get about. This car is too mechanically and structurally good to just give to a wrecker. Message me for more details if you are genuinely interested. Wide body, 5sp manual, air con, engine immobilizer, remote central locking. Tyres one year old with good spare. 3x keys and working fobs. Will swap this car for $500 ono.
  10. Have a 2016 Camry Atara S with 6 months warranty left. Washed the car a couple weeks ago. On the way home, twice while braking lightly, the following occurs: 1. Beeping, as though a door is open or seatbelt is off. 2. Park brake light comes on instrument panel 3. Entire rest of instrument panel goes black. No backlights, no indicators except park brake 4. Something thumps the wheels. Feels kind of like ABS kicking in, but could be a gearbox hard shift (as though you dropped into drive while still reversing slightly) It happened again the next day. I gave it to Toyota to look at, they can't find anything actually wrong, suggest water got into some electronics in engine bay. Clean it out, give it back. Week later, same deal on a one off. As I'm slowing down it does all the same. This time it stays black even through turning the car off and on again. Wasn't until I tapped the brake after turning it on that it cleared the indicator and the dash came back. Took it back in, they still can't find anything wrong. They pull the ECU to reset it, and clean a bunch of connections. So now, two questions: What are my rights here? They've told me if it happens again, their next step is likely replace the instrument cluster, which seems completely silly given that feels like more of a symptom. The fact that brakes are thumping feels like the traction control or ABS being screwy. They've had the car twice and can't solve it, and it's arguably making the car unsafe and unfit to drive. Any thoughts on cause or similar situations on here? NB: I'm not being charged for (and wouldn't even consider paying for) said "repairs".

  12. Hello, I am new here and just wanted to ask a question. It is very rare but occasionally I find 2006 Commonwealth games Camry Azura's online for sale, does anyone know how many of these were made and any more information such as engine type I'm sure it would be a 1MZ-FE but there's very little information out there that I can find, I couldn't even find much in the way of newspaper articles or online forums. Another thing I wanted to know were these used by the athletes and staff during the Melbourne Commonwealth games or were they just a special edition and the last thing I wanted to know was how much they were at retail price as they seem to have more extras than even the Sportivo and when I have seen them for sale they still go for about $7500 private sale and that's with high KM'S . Cheers, I am thankful for any help.
  13. G'day everyone! Never thought after many years I'd be back behind the wheel of a Toyota but what do you know it's all come full circle. After having a gold 2007 Aurion Sportivo ZR6 for a few years. Old Members Ride Here! I said farewell to the TOCAU community and since then I'd gone down the european path with a Mk5 Golf GTI, then down the Subaru owners path with a 2005 Liberty Sedan and now since all those cars became money pits. I'm back to good 'ol reliable town with a 2005 Camry Sportivo MCV36R! It's good to be back behind the wheel of a Toyota once more! :D Bought in March 2018. Toyota Camry Sportivo V6 MCV36R Approx 224,000km on the clock. 5spd Manual Transmission. Completely bone stock (this is something I would like to change a bit. Maybe just give the car a bit of a more meaty sound with the exhaust. Nothing too major.) except the radio which it came with a Kenwood Single DIN but I've since installed a full Android Double DIN based unit in it. (I can't live without my GPS. I'm horrible like that!) Definitely gonna get myself more active on here again back like the old days! I also realised I only have the one photo of it so far. So i'll fix that in the coming days. But for now. Have a backside shot. :P
  14. Hi I want to get an upgraded exhaust system for my 95 Camry vienta, but I haven’t been able to find any for it. I was wondering what exhausts from other cars would fit mine?
  15. Here's my old girl I've had since 2004 after I got it from an auction. Ex-police vehicle. Still thinking if I should bump the wheels up to 17x7" 215/50R17 from current stock size 15x6" 205/65R15 (exact same diameter). Thoughts?
  16. Stupid question I know, But i was wondering if it is possible to do a 3MZ-FE Swap with my 1998 5spd Manual Toyota Camry MCV20R. If yes, what would I have to do?
  17. Hi, I have Camry 2005 2.4l. Since I bought it, I never tried the cruise control but today when I tried to use it I realised that it's not working. Cruise light doesn't come on either. Any idea what to check? I saw another post regarding brake lights and cruise issue. My brake lights are working normally. They don't stay on as stated in that post. But I do have that missing rubber part as shown in that posts' pictures.
  18. Hi just bought a 95 vienta sedan and want to put a new headunit in but as I’ve gone to do it none of the wires seem to be matching up. It has become very confusing and frustrating. I would very much appreciate a guide for the colour code of the wires. P.s. I have done many headunits in other cars but none have been as confusing and strange as this.
  19. Hello Everyone ! I've started to do some upgrades to my slightly old Toyota Camry. I replaced the headunit in favour of getting something with Android Auto, so I bought and installed a Sony XAV-AX100. Works well, sound quality is good on the stock speakers (I think I had an upgrade from the factory 4 speakers + 2 tweeters in the front doors). Problem starts when I turn up the volume. Anything that is slightly on the louder side, and my music starts getting gaps in it, as if the headunit is lacking power and cutting out to not damage itself. I've ordered a pioneer amp to potentially fix this issue, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Amplifiers/GM+Digital+Series/GM-D1004which can push out 45W RMS at 4 ohms, but I'm not sure what the impedance of the stock speakers is. (Can someone help out?) To be clear, the stock speakers used to go a lot louder on the stock headunit without distortion than what the Sony is cutting out at so therefore I don't believe the speakers are the problem. Stock headunit looks like this: http://codedradio.info/show.php?p=pics/TOYOTA/37803.jpg&title=TOYOTA%2037803 and I think the model is 86100-YC280 by Fujitsu Ten. Could someone shed some light on this and tell me if I am looking at this the right way and if getting an amp added to this will fix the issue? Is this issue due to an impedance mismatch? Cheers :)
  20. The casing around my gear shifter (automatic car) is broken, so i decided to get a new one from the wreckers.. whilst trying to remove the gear knob so i could easily slide the old housing off and slide the new housing on i've realised that the Overdrive cord actually goes up into it the knob and therefore even though i can pull the knob off it will only go so far as the cord is attached inside of it to the button.. any ideas? do i really have to replace the whole gearstick ect just for a little bit of housing? is there somewhere i can just disconnect the o/d cord from temporarily just so i can get this little bit of plastic over my gearshifter? Picture of the broken casing so everyone knows what i'm talking about lol
  21. Hi, I have a 2012 atara sl. The middle brake light that sits on the rear deck has come unstuck on one side and is now hanging lop sided. Anyone know how to access it? I'm pretty sure I just need to put some good double sided tape on it and stick it back but it looks like I'll have to take off part of the inside of the boot to get to it. Not sure though. Ta
  22. Hi gents, I've currently got a problem with my Toyota Camry 2005 Altise (ACV36R), When driving home the other day, I noticed that the power to my head unit would switch off, then back on. Once the headlights were turned on, the radio cut out as well. When I arrived home, and turned the car off, I was unable to start it again. I checked and found that I had less than 10V across the battery terminals (which were extremely corroded). The battery is now 6 years old. Given the age of the battery, I decided to replace it with a new battery, and clean the corrosion on the leads. Now the car starts fine, but I'm not seeing an increase in voltage across the battery terminals when the car is running (even at 2000RPM). It's just slowly dropping, which is leading me to believe the alternator is damaged. However, there is no battery fault lamp indicator (the bulb is fine - lights up on startup). I've done a diode test of the alternator. No issue found. I've done a continuity check from the alternator to the positive post of the battery terminal. No issue found. I've sourced an alternator for $250. Just wanted to get any other ideas here before I commit to purchasing it. The only reason I'm holding back from getting one, is that there is no battery warning lamp; which I would expect to see if there was a charging problem... Appreciate any help. Thanks Sean

  24. Hi all, I bought my '03 Camry Sportivo 2.4L a little while ago. I've since noticed that when in 5th gear I get a vibration/rattle through the gear stick. You can hear it as well (that's what alerted me initially to it). The sound and vibration go away if I have no throttle on. It also sometimes goes away if I pop it out of 5th and then slot it back in. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Many thanks in advance! James
  25. As a new member I am writing this in the hope that I can draw on the knowledge of other Toyota Camry owners my topic is quite left of centre and has proven to be a difficult one to find an answer for. I drive an 09/2009 Toyota Camry Altise and am trying to find out if the Australian version of the XV40 known as ACV40R is the same body style (Panel) specifications as the North American 2009 XV40 known there as the LE? my research suggests the same Toyota Camry body style (XV40) was shipped to both Australasia as (ACV40R) and North America as (LE) amoung other markets as of 2007 with minor cosmetic differences, my reason for this question is due to the fact that I would like to fit an aftermarket body kit to the vehicle but neither the American Retailer of the 2009 Camry body kit or my Toyota dealership can answer this fitment question. Any help with this topic would be greatly appreciated
