  1. Hi All, I currently own a 2008 Camry Altise and a great car it is too. I'm thinking of getting another toyota (2nd VEH), maybe a RAV4? My question is this, I know my model Toyota has a timing chain, what years/models of RAV4/toytas etc also come with timing chains. Not a fan of timing belts and the excessive cost in servicing them. Thanks in advance. ^_^
  2. Hi everyone, Henry here. I'm an 18 year old from Australia, and i currently own a 1993 holden apollo (pretty much holden body on a camry) and I have a few questions that I would like for you people to try and answer! the CV joints are also knocking pretty hard. My clutch is slipping and it's really embarassing when i get overtaken by trucks going up hills. 1. For some reason, my clutch doesn't slip as much when my A/C is on. why is this happening? 2. I got qouted over $1000 to get the clutch fixed at a mechanic, so i was considering doing it myself.. or maybe an engine swap. Does anyone know o any good ones that will pop right in? it's currently got a 5sfe motor in it?
  3. Hi, my names Matt and have just joined up. I have a 1990 2.0 Camry wagon Executive which i never thought I would grow to like as much as i do. Purchased as a cheap and reliable first car that i was gonna sell as soon as i could afford a newer holden ute, now however i think ill be holding on to my camry until its had its day. Im a big car person, namely sport/supercars which is why i am so amazed and joined you all. Ive learnt how to get the at times brainless auto box to work how i want it to. absolutely amazed! Now, enough about the car, lets talk about me. Im 20 years old and live in kilsyth in the eastern suburbs of melbourne, somewhere near maroondah. thats about all i can think of about myself so.. yeah! thanks for reading. hope to talk to everyone soon!
  4. Just a question, dunno if anyone has done this before, but would Camry springs fit into an Aurion? Reason being I've found a set of Pedders Low's for a Camry, just not sure whether theres any difference in the struts between the Aurions and Camrys. Has anyone tried this?
  5. My camry 2009 model got into an accident unfortunately. The front door has a big dent and lot of paint is gone.I think it needs to be replaced.Any idea how much it would cost for a replacement in australia?
  6. Hi there. I'm Tom from Brisbane. Bought my first car the other day and it happens to be a classic 89' Camry SV20. Can't wait to get it running when I get my P's soon.

  9. Hi All! I wanted to know if anyone here has put K&N panel air filter in a Camry ACV40R 06. I got many different answers from auto parts people as to if it fits. The part number I found being the closest is 33-2370. Any answers appreciated:)

  11. Okay, so I've been driving my newly acquired '96 Vienta Csi and I'm ready to take it to the next level. My main gripe with the car is that the ride is too soft for my liking. It's comfortable going over potholes and bumpy roads, but when I do quick turns and cornering, it feel like an oil tanker. After forum hopping for a while, it seems that a front strut beam and rear sway bar would make a difference at a lower price point. After doing a little digging and visiting autobarn down in chaddy this afternoon, i realised that Whiteline does not make a front strut beam for the '96 Vienta because there is no clearance above the engine; a real bummer. So i'm posting this hoping get a few more ideas re how i can improve my suspension without blowing a big hole in my pocket. A friend of mine recommended changing the stock suspension to coilovers and that should reduce the need for FSB and RSB. I don't have a lot of money to spare so if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share them. (if you could provide an estimated cost as well, that will be awesome) thanks! :D
  12. Hi forumers... My 1996 Camry Vienta CSi takes a while to start in the mornings and then there's a shrill squeaking sound which lasts for 1-2 secs. Should I be worried?
  13. Can anyone recommend me a cheap sound system that comes with a headunit? My friend told me that he bought a cheap headunit from JBhifi in Ringwood and that it came with speakers. The people at JB were gonna install it for him but they found out that the speakers wouldn't fit his corolla '86. I'm not looking to spend more than 200 bucks on it. I only listen to classical music so thumping and bass aren't essential. I do however need clarity in the sound. Recommendations?
  14. Hi Everyone! Just a new member, recently bought the new Camry Atara SL. Curious to know if anyone else has the new Camry. Only added a rear lip spoiler to it, looking to further modify it in the near future, just keeping it stock for know. Mainly cause of limited aftermarket accessories available. If anyone is curious to know bout the new Camry don't hesitate to ask :)
  15. Hi guys, My reverse light would not come on when the reverse gear is engaged. I checked the owner's manual and it seems the rear lights are all on one fuse. Braking and parking lights are all functional except this reversing light. I checked the bulbs they all seem good. I searched the internet and people suggest that there should be a switch near the gear box, however this for the camry with auto gearbox. My camry has manual gearbox and i don't see any switch near gear stick area. Camry is 4 cyl 2002 model. Any thoughts? Thanks guys.
  16. Hi All, I just bought a 3rd hand 1996 Camry Vienta 3.0 CSi from a private seller. It is due to arrive on Thursday. My deal with him was that I'll pay a really good price for the car and he'll send it in for RWC inspection (and servicing if required). I test drove it and it's all pretty good. The car has only 133,000km on it. Timing belt, spark plugs, distributor, and some other things were changed at 100,000km. As far as I can tell, there were no mechanical problems with it. I did notice that one of the side lights did not fit into the body properly. I reckon that problem is easily recitified with a firm shove. The car comes with a cassette headunit and I am gonna change it to a CD headunit the moment I get the car. Does anyone know if the ECT switch on the auto-gearbox affects the performance by much? I noticed that when I switched it to PWR, the revs are slightly higher and the gear changes are too. However it isn't like an overdrive system on some auto cars I've driven before. It doesn't feel more agile...probably cuz the car is too heavy... Because it's a pretty big engine and a pretty big car, fuel consumption is probably not the best. Is there any way to make the car more economical while also increasing it's peak performance? ECU tuning? engine add ons? Hope you guys can help.
  17. Hey, I first came across the Owner Club forums when I was looking for some help fixing the headliner in my 1996 Camry CSi Wagon, Found some very useful info in various posts, with great photos and tips. Anyway I found a great automotive fabric supplier in Moorabbin, VIC incase anyone is looking for fabric or leather to re-trim. VYFAB 12 Bignell Road, Moorabbin, Victoria, 3189 (03) 9555 6033 http://www.vyfab.com/ Really helpful staff and they colour matched the fabric exactly.
  18. Hello Everyone, Finally, I join the elite club of Toyota users...Yipeee!!! But I have a problem. See, My toyota is a Camry LE V6 1998 version. Recently, I noticed that whenever I stepped on the brakes, the lights in my dashboard dimmed considerably. As soon as I release the brakes, the light seem to return to normal. Also, starting the car whenever I park it became a problem with the ignition dragging before finally starting the engine. As of now, my battery's out flat and I may have to change the alternator but I am not so quick to have confidence in these sets of solutions. Anybody else have ideas on what I sould do? :( :( :(
  19. Hey I'm a new member in Adelaide, recently bought a 2005 Camry sportivo (gloss black) with 17" chrome wheels... Thanks!!
  20. hey guys a big horrible hoppy thing decided to take out my passenger side headlight and parklight on my sv11 camry. anyone know of a wrecker or member with a park lamp assembly for sale? i really dont wanna have to build one. ps.... yeah i know my car is old :P
  21. I recently bought an '04 Camry Sportivo, it has the alarm system immobilizer installed. I noticed a couple of days ago that when I would try to unlock the car with my remote using central locking the car wouldn't respond. It took literally 50 tries and playing around with the keys in the ignition for it to eventually demobilize. Well today when I went to drive home, I pressed the remote to unlock the car and nothing happen, I tried disconnecting the battery terminals to reset the car, couldn't find a killswitch and googled how to reset the immobilizer. To no avail my next step was to call RACQ, the roadside assistance came out. He tried to bypass the alarm system & override it. He basically concluded that the alarm system (mongoose) had fried itself. I also forgot to mention that the keyless entry (remote) is an aftermarket key. He said I would have to put the car in at an auto-elecs to get a new system put in or for them to repair this one. If anyone can please let me know, what sort of $$$ I'm up for a new alarm system to be installed (parts + labour). I would even opt to have no alarm system, however still with keyless entry! Any reccomendations and help is appreciated, Cheers.
