Hey All, I am looking to do a engine converstion on my 1998 S-XR Celica, changing from the 2.2l standard engine, to a GT4 engine of the same year if possiable, I was wondering if someone has done this or if someone know what is involved in doing it, at this stage I am just researching it to see if it a viable option for me If someone can help answer this that would be grate :) Peace out :) Cillygirl

I'm sad to say you have to read the buy and sell rules before you post stuff like this on.

hi guys. my name is reggie. i drive a celica gt4 st185 . at the time of the car's purchase the car was running a 3sgte mr2 engine and was running on a aftermarket ems ecu. recently i've had problems with the car and needed to replace the engine. i have managed to find myself a healthy 3sgte engine that is meant for the gt4 and got it fitted in and planned on putting the car back to stock therefore removing the dodgy wiring harness the car was running on before (being piggybacked and all from an mr2 wiring loom) and buying a new harness and have it run on a stock ecu. all work has been completed but the car wont start. its cranking but it wont turn over as its not getting any spark. i have replaced the coil as at first thought i suspected it to be the problem. i have had a mechanic look at it and he suggest its a wiring problem that connects the car's stock ecu. i suspect this is the case as well since the car was afterall running everything on the aftermarket ecu before. anyone got any thought on this ? would an auto electrician be able to fix this easily or is it gonna be a big job and end up costing me lots of dollars just to get the car running again ? does anyone know any place out there in sydney that works on gt4's or would recommend ? any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance ! not sure if you guys can see but below are just some pics of the car .

Hi everyone, Looks like a realy good site, looking forward to trawling through all the posts from other Toyota fans. I'm a die hard Toyota fan, having worked on them as a mechanic from 1994 to 2003. I curently have a 2012 Hilux SR5 TD auto with heaps of ARB gear, a 2011 Corolla sports and a 1996 Hilux tipper tray that I cant bear to part with. In the past I have had a few other Hiluxes, KZJ120 Prado, Landcruiser 80 and a ST204 Celica, so there is pretty much always a least 1 Toyota in the garage. I'm currently searching for a Celica ST205 GT4. Must be genuine Aussie model, would love a red one but will consider others. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. I would also consider a Carlos Sainz ST185 as an interim project until I can find a 205. Cheers Steve.
