Posted November 25, 2012 Hello, My Toyota Landcruiser ute (HZJ79) has suddenly developed a high pitched whine coming somewhere from the drive train. I was driving and noticed that the speedometer had stopped working. About 3 days later I noticed a whine coming from under the vehicle. It is noticable at speeds above 20 Km/Hr and increases in pitch the faster I go. As soon as I heard the noise I looked under the vehicle to see the Speedo takeoff unit dangling and out of its hole. There was oil in the transfer case but some had leaked out as the level was lower than it should be. There are no other noises or rattles and the car shifts in all 5 gears OK. The box is only 100,000 Kms old and the mechanics don't know what is causing the noise. They have changed the oil and put in an additive but to no avail. The mechanics who installed the box don't seem to want to take responsibility for the speedo unit falling out, which it appears to me to have caused this problem. Has anyone suffered a similar problem to this? Any ideas greatfully recieved.
Hi there, I recently bought a Toyota Land Cruiser 2014 overseas and had a problem with navigation system, I am getting a message "A Program Cannot Be Read, Please consult a dealer" , I send it to Toyota official service centre but they cannot do anything about, tried to contact Toyota Japan but nothing as well. I bought it second hand I do not even know who is the main dealer to contact, tried to search line using part number but was not successful. I attached all the images of navigation system and the dealer number. I will really appreciate if someone can point me to the right direction. Thanks, Marc
Hi everyone My name is Cam (ohc when I don't understand something) and my partner and I drive an 1990 80s series which is well loved but doesn't look it :/ something I wish to rectify as soon as possible. We're currently living in Sydney but are originally from the mid north coast. Have had the car in my boyfriend's family since the odo sat on 20, 000, and since I grew up on a farm I also have a love of fourbies. In 2011-2012 we converted the back of it into quarters with a netted outdoor extension, slapped a massive set of roof racks with tray on top, kitted it out with a dual battery set up which ran an inverter off an aftermarket 12V socket mounted on the base of the D pillar and drove all the way west and back with a dip down to tassie :) -definitely what cruisers are made for (and a nice learning curve haha). Anyway looking forward to talking toyos with you all :) will put up pics of some of the conversions as I go, maybe some of the camping rig if I can find them/people are interested. -Cam
