I've got a 1986 Corona with an AE86 steering wheel on it. The steering wheel was on it when I bought it. Horn didn't work, but I was sure it would be an easy fix. Checked the contacts by hand the horn worked. Tried 2 different boss kits with completely new steering wheels, even 2 different original Corona steering wheels from some friends who also have Coronas. But still nothing doing. Someone suggested that the contact may be too far down in the steering column for the wheels to reach? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else had a Corona with a similar issue and they knew a fix.
Hi all. I need some DIY advice. I have a 1999 Toyota Hiace LWB (my first car). According to the mechanic I need the horn replaced. I was told: 'Don't waste your money with us as this car is old. Find a horn at a wrecker and install it yourself - its under the front grill'. (-_-) Has anyone replaced a Hiace horn? Is it difficult? Where do I start? Do I go to a wrecker or Supercheap Auto or ebay? Is it a specific horn? Is it tricky to get the grill off? Do I have to disconnect the battery? I need this done before an interstate drive in 2 weeks. My 'mechanic' experience is DIY servicing my sewing machineI, however I feel confident and up to learning how to fix my own car. The husband is super handy (has taken apart and fixed motorbikes etc), but busy leading up to the trip and hasn't dealt with this specific issue before. He is encouraging me to get it done by a pro as he can't afford to spend all day fixing the horn and other things that need to be done. The other things I need to sort out are: replacing the plastic surrounding the headlight and indicator. The indicator is currently gaffer taped in place otherwise it falls out. I am hoping I can save money by learning how to fix my car myself.
I have recently bought a 2008 Aurion and this evening I wanted to toot the horn at my neighbour and could not figure out how to do it :-| In all my other cars you simply hit the centre of the steering wheel. I have been through the user manual and can not find the answer... so, if I find someone slowly reversing into me without looking... how the heck to I toot the horn to warn them of an impending collission??
Hi I have a Toyota Camry 1996. I installed an aftermarket alarm but can not work out how to DISABLE completely the Toyota factory immobiliser/horn/alarm. At present the new alarm is only working thanks to the factory alarm being placed in DISARM mode – a bandaid solution and one that may revert at any time. Further even in disarm mode, when I push the button on my new remote the factory horn beep occurs and the indicator lights flash according to the factory combination. This is combined with my new alarm beeping and indicator flashing which is almost opposite to the factory one. So its a bit of a confusing mess. From what ive read online there is something called the CIR or Computer Integration relay that is part of the issue. Question : How do I totally disable the factory Toyota immobiliser, alarm and horn ?
