  1. Hi guys (Lift issues on 2ZZ VVTLi) Need some help in Melbourne sourcing a mechanic who actually knows there way around a 2ZZ VVTLi engine (Corolla Sportivo)? I went to my Toyota Dealer (been going there for over a decade) and my engine was leaking oil. The following list is the work they carried out in order to fix the oil leaks. The oil leak was fixed (and it cost me an arm so far), but now my car will NOT hit lift. They have had two goes at it, but they do not know why it won’t hit lift blaming anyone but themselves. What could be the issue of why lift is not engaging and could you please recommend a reputable mechanic who has previously fixed these issues and has experience with the 2ZZ VVTLi engine in Melbourne. The work which was carried out: · Removed timing case and cylinder head assembly · Replaced all seals and gaskets · Replaced head gasket and retorqued cylinder head · Replaced VRS gasket set and rocker cover gasket · Replaced all fluids
  2. Hi everyone, I am having a problem with my 03 Corolla Sportivo. The car previously has a cat-back custom exhaust that would engage lift strongly and prominently. I did not like how loud it was so I took it back (around a year later) to replace the resonator and install a quieter muffler. Since then I have noticed that lift does not engage anywhere nearly as significantly as before (almost no noticeable power increase) and sounds like it is struggling in the higher rev range/ not operating smoothly. I notice at 6k rpm the engine will cut off very briefly and then continue onward to redline, same sort of sound and feel between on/off lift. I am wondering if this might actually be an issue or it is just all in my head going from loud to quiet.
  3. Hey guys I put up a post a month ago about having lift problems in my 04 stivo so my cars been at the mechanics for a month and just got word from him that his finished my car. Now i had to order the lift bolts from the UK cause it was to hard to find them here. The mechanic just wrote to me saying that he could only replace 1 lift bolt the other was a small bolt and the lift bolts I got where to big has anyone else had this issue is it normal or should I be worried waiting for replys cheers guys
  4. Hey guys, figured I'd finally make a build thread. So here it is, my 2004 ZZE123 Corolla Sportivo in super sensual sizzling silver (pretty boring colour actually). I've had this for maybe two months or so after I wrote my 06 Civic FD1 off after some touge in the wet.. bad feels. But after owning this over a month or so, I can honestly say I love my car, love the nice raw feeling to it (hate to say it but sort of reminiscent of a Honda, as I've owned two before this) ESPECIALLY THE LIFT. Needless to say, coilovers are probably the BEST you could do to it in regards to overall performance mods and working off a tight budget. So to speak, the first thing I had to do was get rid of that hideous 4x4 height and the handling which resembled something like the Titanic. So I got my hands on some BC BR Series Coilovers. Aaaaaaaaaaaand this is how she sat afterwards :) Few nifty shots from those late night shenanigans ;) After a while, close mate of mine wanted to paint his foggies. I said hey why not but I wasn't a huge fan of yellow foggies on rolla's. Unless they're a Hachiroku derp but how often do you come across them? Anyway, he said what do you think about amber corners? Looked great on his old dc2 so I went for it. Learnt a few things about how to paint here and there and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. So now this brings us to a few days ago. After reading up here and there, I tossed up between a CAI and a SRI. Intakes are intakes, depends what you want really; I was searching for more low end power and a more responsive feeling. So I finally chose the k&n typhoon series SRI and well, I love it. Lift sounds great, amazing throttle response and notable hp gains (minimal but you can't expect anything much from an intake lel). But yeah, that's pretty much all that's done to it really. Pretty standard to say the least but I have more planned for it. I'll leave you guys with a few shots of it recently, a video I made for fun with a few mates and a video of how she runs with the SRI for those of you who are looking into a short ram.   5. Hi guys and Girls, I am Trent and I am 20 in November, Live in Penrith (Western Sydney) and am currently inlove with my new corolla Sportivo. I used to be a Mazda kinda guy but however recently been converted to Toyota, and boy what a change it has been! I am relatively new to the whole variable valve timing set up so please dont judge when i ask numerous newb questions haha. I love the whole lift concept however cannot wait to start modding up the little 2zz! I look forward to your replies, advice and judgement on my future rolla build. Thanks Trent! My Old Mazda SP20 and my new baby! The Rolla had already had some mods done do it, - Lowered on King Spring Super Lows - TRD Cold Air Intake - TRD Short Shifter and - Aftermarket Tail Lights Sits Nice. and Back end looks good Got my tint done last Friday, 5% all round! I LOVE IT! Cant wait for the detail on wednesday :)
  6. G'day guys! My name's Whiskey and I'm the proud new owner of a 2004 Hilux and newly addicted 4-wheel driving fanatic. So, here's the thing, the PO of this truck spent some money on it. Some of the upgrades are clearly beneficial, i.e. the brand new TJM Bull bar with 9500 lb winch. I reckon he walked into TJM and maxed out his credit card. I've taken photos of the suspension and I'm hoping you Lux gurus out there can make heads or tails of what I've got and what I should do to make it any safer or more capable off road. I know that as an IFS ute, it's inherent offroad prowess can't match that of a live axle ute. Believe you me, I love the idea of doing an SAS and have started researching it but given the $5-7k price tag, it's going to have to wait. Is it worth beefing up the IFS with good parts, adding lockers and a good set of MT's? Bear in mind, I don't want to do any crazy ridiculous rock crawling but I do want to access some pretty heavily rutted, washed out, steep, loose and or wet fire trails and tracks. I know spending money on the IFS may be like peeing in the wind but it's worth it to me to spend $2k now (excluding tyres) to get a highly capable trail machine that's still reliable for my carpentry business for the next year or so while I hunt for a solid axle and save up for the swap. Any way, here's the pics. I look forward to getting to know you guys. Thanks in advance for the help! I didn't blur out my number plates so don't anyone go stalking me or fobbing your speeding fines off on me! Drivers side front end. TJM Shocks. Ball joints and CV seem to be in good shape, some of the bushings seem a bit average, like on the pitman arm. Can anyone recommend a **** hot degreaser that's safe on my rubbers? I used to use Simple Green back home, good for a light detergent and degreaser but I haven't seen it here in OZ. I like to detail my truck after it's been on the trail, including underneath. Passenger side, shot of CV axle and torsion bar Lower ball joint drivers side. They're all in pretty much the same nick. Torsion bar from passenger side. Bushing at chassis rail looks a bit suss. Worth replacing with Polyurethane? Rack and pinion Rear diff, shocks and leafs. This truck sits very high in the back and the springs are so bloody stiff, that the tyres came off the ground with the first pump of my floor jack the first time I jacked it up. I will be adding an diamond plate alloy canopy/service tray full of tools (or camping gear, recovery gear and spares when I'm on the trail). I do wonder if these are the wrong leaf springs though, it is really bloody rigid. Should I wait until I get all the weight on the ***** of it before doing anything with them? Shackles
