Hey 👋🏼 I’ll preface this with a disclaimer - I know nothing about cars & would really appreciate some honest help & assistance! Bought an 80 series petrol Landcruiser earlier in the year for $4K - silly us, we didn’t get the car looked over & while it gave us half a year no issues, it’s basically pooped itself. Toyota checked it over for us, didn’t offer advice on fixes but gave us the following issues; low idle due to severe blowby; rings not sealed and losing compression (needs an engine rebuild); radiator cap leaking; movement in front wheel bearings; power steering box leaking; rear sway bar link bushes worn; rear main seal leaking & movement in front unit “JNT”… So, I guess what I’m asking - is she farked? We love the car & it’s in otherwise perfect condition. I guess I want to know if ya’ll think it’s worth rebuilding & dropping some cash into the pit? Any estimates on how much this will cost us to get fixed with an engine rebuilder? Any tips/tricks on how we can perhaps cut some costs, learn some new skills & fix some of these issues ourselves? Greatly appreciated - thank you!

Hi all I have a 2006 Toyota Aurion and have been driving it for about 2 years now. Of late (last 3 weeks or so) i find that it has issues starting. When i turn the key the dash lights clicker and you hear it crank over for a few seconds then it start. I thought it was battery so i charged it using my CTEK, it was ok for 24hrs then started doing it again. Mechanic checked it and said that the battery and Alternator are putting out the correct voltage and everything looks ok. He made the comment that maybe something is draining the battery while not being used ( went from driving 2-3hrs a day to 30min every 2 due to work from home) Is there anything that using power on this series while stationary e.g. imoblizer, or any other suggestion on what to check. My concern is one moring when i try to start it it wont. Further info - Have made sure to power off radio and AC so when starting not extra voltage it used. No lights on (internal or external) and all doors are sealed.

Hi Everyone, So the odometer has just gone over 135k and I need to give the beloved 'Rolla a good service. Below I've got a few things that I wanted to ask the forum, your help would be much appreciated! 1. I plan on changing the brake pads all round as well as the front discs. Is there any chance that I could get the Sportivo's pads and discs? I'm looking to upgrade the brake performance on the car, does anyone have any suggestions regarding brands and what products have worked well for them? 2. What is the size of the front and rear brake pads? Is there a specific type that I need to get? Same goes for the front discs, what is their size/type? 3. I want to change the transmission fluid for the AT, do I need any tools? Is this an easy procedure? The fluid looks quite dark, I 4. I also want to change the front driver's side floor-mat. Any good places where I can find one? Any good aftermarket ones? 5. The "tightening of chassis nuts and bolts". What do I need to do? has anyone ever done this and has anything been loose? 6. The cabin air filter. Does the Corolla actually come with one as after the last service at a Toyota service centre, the filter is missing... I would like to thank you all for your help! It would really mean a lot to me! :) Mike
