  1. Hi Gurus, I’ve noticed a small rattle with my 2014 RAV4 Diesel manual with 21k kms on the clock. I first heard the ‘rattle’ when in neutral whent the clutch is engaged. When I press the clutch in the rattle disappears. The car drives normally with smooth gear changes and no noticed difference in the clutch pedal feedback/pressure. Having noticed it, I hear the rattle throughout the gears although its hard to hear clearly due to the diesel motor sound and road noise. I did stall the car last week at low speed and I think I’m just being paranoid but I can’t remember the noise being there before. I only really noticed it a couple of days ago. I read about throwbearings or clutch springs being loose making rattle sounds but I suppose it could be something else entirely. I’ll take it into Toyota this week if I an but I’d like some expert knowledge in case they tell me to replace the clutch! Thanks in advance! Pete
  2. Hey guys I have a loud squeak/rattle noise that starts as I hit about 2000rpm and gets louder as the revs go up. The noise will only happen when I am accelerating and it completely goes away when I back off. It sounds like it's coming from the cluster but I'm not exactly sure. Need help asap because it is driving me nuts.
  3. Hi all, I am hoping to learn if any other members are experiencing similar issues - and have any good remedy ideas? In Feb I purchased a (new) 2013 Corolla Ascent Sport from Melbourne City Toyota. A rattle began to develop around the dashboard area. At first, it sounded like a rattle on the left side of the dash near the aircon vent. It took two visits to the dealership service center to repair the rattle. Within a week of the second visit, the rattle came back - this time in two places, and much worse. The second rattle noise appears to be coming from behind the wheel. Hard to describe the sound, it's more like a high pitched squeaking rather than a dull rattle. To date I have had wires/brackets either replaced and/or tightened, and also foam applied in numerous places. Still, the rattle persists. Has anyone experienced this with the new Corolla? I have an appointment next week with a "diagnostic specialist" to conduct (another!) test drive. If it cannot be fixed after this fourth appointment, I will have to try and resolve the issue via Toyota Corporate as a dispute. Surely after four visits it would be deemed irreparable? Cheers, Jas
  4. I bought a 94 Celica as a bit of a project to learn about cars. With the help of my friend who has recently qualified as a Volkswagen tech we have removed the gunk that remained of the old timing belt and installed the new one several times. The engine still seems to knock at the top end. The few times the car has been running the car runs for about 20 minutes but underpowered and then it cuts out. It always seems to start again with a jump so in not too worried about that but last time it died the oil light came on despite the car having the appropriate oil levels and running cleaner through the engine. Removing the rocker cover has not revealed any blockages and as the title says in in a little over my head as to why this engine sounds like it is getting no oil. Everytime ii seem to try something it didn't seem to work so i was wondering if there was any Toyota pros out there around Parramatta area that might be able to take a look for me one day before i have to buy a whole new engine :/
  5. UPDATE: Please read post below from me Re: new dash piece. Hey all, I have an issue with my 07 Prodigy. I have a rattle in the top vents area. I am pretty sure it's located in the vents themselves, as when I put my finger in the dash, the rattle almost stops. Has anyone experienced this issue? any advice on how to stop it, as it's very annoying. Also, in the process of finding the rattle, I scratched my dash!! I am FUUUMINNNGGG at myself. :'( Does anyone have any reccomendations on how to fix this? Because if I don't fix it, I will probably go to Toyota and get a cost on a new part. Please let me know.   6. G'day everyone, i have a 1983 toyota hilux SR5 4x4 that has been changed from a petrol to a diesel motor (out of a hilux surf 4x4). The problem im having is that there is a serious rattling noise that happens when using gears 1,2,3,5 and reverse, but gear 4 is quiet and normal. Ive been told that it can be the transfer case, which might need replacing, the gear box, or one of the hubs could be stuck on which will cause the noise. At first i thought it was 100% the gear box, but the rattling noise happens occasionally in neutral, and the noise comes from the transfer case itself. Any advice or help will be much appreciated as i am only new to this. Cheers
