2008 KX-R engine+VSC light

We have a ~2008 KX-R, 2wd, just out of the 3 year warranty and the engine+VSC light are coming on.

My mrs has done ~36k in the car from dealer new, always dealer serviced at the required interval (last in Nov).

The light did go off, but has since returned, and I drove it yesterday. When I started the engine, there was vibration and throttle response consistant with a failed cyl - like running on 5 of 6, but that went away in a minute and there were no issues once driving.

We've pretty much always used E10.

It goes in next Friday, apparently $88 to have the codes checked and reset and we'll find out more then, any ideas?

Timing could not be worse, baby due in 6 weeks and really don't want the mrs to break down pregnant at the side of the road!!

Well, it's in the garage today, car is three months out of the three year warranty, and I'm being told it needs a new Ingition Coil Pack. Total fitted $322, plus $88 to check and clear the fault codes ~$410 bill.

What are the chances Toyota will do it under warranty I wonder? - If they don't, this will be my last dealer purchased full service history vehicle......
