  1. i have actually revved the engine past the cutout to just over the halfway mark between 8 and 9. this was downchanging from 3-2 on a twisty mountain pass. i dunno how many times i did it on that run but after that i made sure i waited and braked a bit more b4 dropping the clutch. i only noticed it the first time when i went in too quick for one corner and i heard the popping sounds made by the limiter when i stabbed the throttle for the downchange. as i dropped the clutch the needle actually rised past the cutout mark.

I'm assuming the rev limiter only works for the throttle.. meaning that it wont allow you to rev past 8200rpm but on the other hand, you can definately rev higher than that if you do a high speed downshift like what you did. And thats highly NOT recommended that you do it.. thats what causes engines to blow :P Bent shafts will be the result of excess revs that the engine can handle (which is set to 8.2k) For the love of your stivo, please dont do it again :D

  2. Fark... this 10k service seems to be bad luck... how many cars have been damaged on this page straight after their 10k service? LOL i think i will just take it straight home and put it in the shed when i get mine done!

Services in general are bad luck and a waste of money. Right after my 5k service I got into a prang with a truck. The very same day!

I swear I'm not going back for the 10k service just to safe guard myself

  3. there is a trd LSD you can drop in place of our stock diffs.. costs slightly over a grand but its definately a well worth purchase if you're gonna improve the handling and maximise the performance of your car. Lots of power thru front wheels + open diff = power losing wheel spin

oh and the price of our stivo clearly spells 'no lsd'. Even the japanese made celicas dont have an lsd and they're paying a whooping 43k or more.. 43k compare to 29k is quite a hefty difference..

  4. i'm not concerned about harshness.. What I'm concerned is if i fork out that $2-300 and get those springs.. am I severly risking the lifespan of my shoxs? Cuz I dont want to have to have to pay out another couple of grand 6 months down the road because the shox got stuffed. I drive quite aggresively sometimes.. sharp/high speed cornering so all these factors will definately contribute to the quick wearing down of the shox with lowered springs on em..

    What do you guys think?

  5. I've heard that using aftermarket springs that lower your car will inevitably kill your stock shox faster - in a time frame of a few months. How true is that? Because for a couple of hundred dollars to lower your car against a couple of thousand seems too good to be true ;)

  6. I would not turbo the 2zzge not recommended I have seen an attempt of a turbo on a celica. The car runs like crap. My Corolla with all it's mods produces more power than the Celica.

For a moment I thought he was using our 2zz engine.. didnt know he was using the 1zz :P
