yes, you have to fill it up through the dipstick hole. make sure you install a new gasket for the drain plug when you change your atf.
regarding the diff, as camry's are fwd the transmission and diff is all in one
for any workshop stuff like this, www.camrystuff.com is good. it has a lot of manuals for a lot of different things
I thought I had to reply to this because not all camrys have common transmission and diffs. The 1996 4cyl Camry Auto has a separate Gearbox and diff. The are drained and refilled separately.

Hi Guys
I have a 96 Camry with the seat belt warning light always on. The problem is in the switch in the seatbelt. If I push the buckle further into the socket (that has the switch) it turns off. Can you pull the female connection apart to repair it?
It seems to me that the switch has come loose.
Thanks

toyota engines; the most reliant IMO
dodgy gearboxes though..
What gives with the gearboxes. Mine is auto and apart from a harsh upshift from 2nd to third is good as gold. 268000km

Hi to everybody.
I have a Toyota Camry that I bought new in 1996. It is still going strong and has 268000km on the clock. I hope to have it for some time yet. It travels 80 to 90ks most days and hardly complains.
Front Door Lock Actuators

Hi
I have Toyota Camry Sedan Auto 1996. The alarm system sounds when the remote is used to lock the car. When locked its ok for about 3-4 seconds and then sounds. I have tracked it down to the left front door actuator. It seems that the mechinism in the door is not pulling the rod far enough to lock and the security system sees this as an unlock condition and it goes off.
I have pulled the actuator out and the levers in this thing have a lot of muck like hard grease etc. The reason for this post is to see if anyone has any experience at fixing them so I can get a bit of an idea on repairing it. Is it a common thing. Any ideas would be much apprieciated.
I have not priced out a new one, but I'll bet its worth a fortune.
Thanks
