  1. I have arranged to meet with him in the next fortnight when he plans to be in Melbourne to look at the Australian version.

I will let you know when this is going to happen and the results. Hopefully I will be able to take pictures and test the unit's functions etc.

If you have any questions you think I should ask let me know?

    Kind regards

    Hado

    Hi Hado,

Just wondering if you had any updates? Do you know when you will be meeting with EasyPark - George?

    Thanks

  2. All

    A further update.

I just spoke to the owner of EasyPark - George - his supply of units are ariving in Australia next week.

He has looked at the USA version, but has yet to have a look at the Australian version.

Therefore, he doesn't know about the hazard switch issue.

He confirmed it does operate WinCE 5.0 - which means we can used most GPS software - but he will also supply Australian maps and software. He said the system is much better than the double din polaris (Caska) unit and the software was very impressive with lots of upgrade options.

I will let you know when this is going to happen and the results. Hoepfully I will be able to take pictures and test the unit's functions etc.

    Hi Hado,

If George can confirm how the hazard switch issue can be solved and guarantee correct operation in aussie Klugers then perhaps we can try and run a mini-group buy and hopefully George can sharpen the price up a bit?

If George can do this then in my mind it has eliminated the risk and the need to do a test car first, therefore, it’s a matter of who wants one! What do you think? There could be a few of us here that want one and perhaps the price could drop to under 1k?

The seller claims the system has the following functions which includes rear view camera inputs:

    • 7 inch TFT
    • With touch screen interface
    • Motorized panel with 5 angel positions
    • TV TUNER BUILT-IN, NTSC/PAL/SECAM
    • DVD/VCD/HDCD/SVCD/CD/MP3/MP4/DIVX compatible
    • AM/FM RADIO
    • SD/MMC CARD SLOT, U disc supported
    • Support external hard disc player
    • Rear-view parking camera input
    • Subwoofer output
    • 1-way radio/video input
    • 2-way audio/video output
    • Power out 25walts*4

Caska makes a model that can use an Intelligent Parking Assist System - but it is much more expensive - and I'm not sure if we can get it in Australia. :(

I am still trying to find the US part number for the 'hazard light switch assembly' I need, before I put an order in.

If anyone is a regular poster on the Toyotanation forum maybe they could ask for me? :help: I don't really want my first post to be a request.

    Kind regards

    Hado

    Hado,

I was wonering if it was the same as the unit on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-KLUGER-09-Di...id=p3286.c0.m14

Good find Ham! It looks like it comes with the hazard light switch assembly too!!

  4. Hi Hado,

That unit looks great and at a very attractive price! Thanks for posting. I too have been hunting around for a replacement but I also would prefer Grande style rather than a Double Din. I am interested to know how you go with solving the switch bundle issue. Please post your progress!

  5. Depends a lot on your financial position and the value you place on the extra features that the Grande has. If you have the money then go for the Grande! It has everything you could ever want. If all you dislike is the wood grain trim in the Grande then I'm sure the dealer could do something about it.

I went through a similar process recently, and although I would love the Grande I decided to pocket the 10k-ish difference and leave it on my (very sizable) mortgage. For me, the main feature from the Grande I wanted was the roof mounted DVD player (for the kid). However, this can be easily fitted aftermarket and if you search through the forums there is a KX-S which has an aftermarket roof mounted DVD which looks fantastic. However, if you value the auto boot, auto headlights and smart entry I think you are better off getting the Grande as I would be nervous about getting this fitted aftermarket (just my opinion).

  6. Hey,

It fitted straight in where the old stereo unit was, same size and shape exactly.

    Cheers

    Hi Wilsact,

Do you have a picture of the Polaris installed in your Kluger? If so, would you mind posting the pic? I have been looking at the Polaris as well recently but wouldn't mind seeing a pic of it fitted before I look at buying it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Thanks Kesawi ,, great links..

I will be getting same colour as you ' metallic silver'.. My previous car was black & I used mequiars new tech wax which was fantasic.

Hope the silver comes up just as good..

Glad to be of assistance. This is how a metallic silver looks with Meguiar's NXT Wax 2.0. Still need to get a DA polisher and remove all the minor swirls, but silver is good like that.

    Hi Kesawi,

Your car looks fantastic after applying the wax! You have inspired me to purchase wax for my KX-S which is silver as well. Looks like Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 is the way to go!

Can I ask if you clayed your car or polished it prior to waxing? Or did you wash then apply the wax straight away?

  8. Twiggy, here's a few photos of the ebay side steps. The main noticeable difference is the bolt under the side step that attaches them to the brackets. Apart from that, they look pretty close to the originals.

They look good!! Thanks for taking the time to post the pics.

  9. I ended up buying a pair off eBay. They were $380 + $30 postage. They turn at the ends, like the Toyota ones. Easy to fit (although instructions are in Chinese, but the pictures do the job) and my 2 yo can climb in easily now. I think the seller's name is newgenerationimports or something to that effect. They look pretty close to the originals.

    Hi SpeedRacer,

Great to hear! Thanks for posting with your feedback. If it's not too much trouble would you be able to please take a picture of them fitted on your vehicle and post it in this thread? I'm interested in buying a set for myself but would prefer to have a look at a picture of them fitted first.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Warwick

  10. Call Toyota spare parts and see how much they cost. Might be a difference and you could save by installing them yourself.

I tried a number of Toyota Spare Parts, the cheapest I found was $895 plus delivery from Castle Hill Toyota, still a bit too high for my liking.

  11. try ebay - should be about $400 with delivery from Sydney ;)

Are you referring to these ones?

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/07-09-Toyota-Kluger...%3A1%7C294%3A50

They look quite good for the money, however, one thing to watch out for is that (in my opinion) the graphite Kluger Grande pictured has the genuine Toyota side steps fitted rather than the aftermarket ones they are selling. If you look closely at the picture you can see the Toyota symbol on the black non slip surface. On the aftermarket side steps there is no logo at all. Furthermore, in my opinion, the genuine Toyota side steps don't have a straight flush end to them like the aftermarket ones do.

I'm sure they may still look very good fitted but I would prefer to see an actual photo of them fitted first before I considered buying them.

  12. ... but at the promo price im sooooo tempted to do a trade on my 02'camry ... if only it came with leather i would be handing over the keys... like NOW!

When I was looking at the Altitude the dealers were offering to put leather in it for $2,300 from memory. They get Blackmans to do it. I have used Blackmans previously in other cars and they do an exceptional job. The dealer also mentioned that Blackmans can leather wrap the steering wheel (another KX-S feature over the KX-R) and apparently they can do that as well!

  13. Hi all,

Informative site (well I've only ventured into the Kluger part so far)

Anyone seen the aftermarket running boards on eBay? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=120403557540

They're so cheap, I'm wondering what the quality would be like. On the other hand, they wouldn't cost a great deal to manufacturer once copied for the original.

I'm hoping to get some feedback on these as well. They look pretty good and less than 1/2 the price of the genuine ones.

  14. Fleet pricing seems to vary at different dealers. I went to 2 dealers regarding fleet pricing, quotes were 47k and 50k respectively for a KX-S 2wd with mats. Ended up getting an 08 (non fleet pricing) instead as it was marginally cheaper.

  15. Picked up a 06/08 KX-S 2wd yesterday (brand new - only 42kms on it) with cargo/floor mats with full tank of fuel and the $150 service cap. I traded in a 03 Astra CD Auto with 103,000kms on it and the change over price was 37.5k. redbook.com.au suggests the upper trade-in price for the Astra is 7.7k, I’m sure the dealer gave a bit more for the trade-in to secure the deal so that works out to be between 45.5k – 46k for the Kluger. I was pretty happy with the deal. While it may have been possible to squeeze a bit more out of the dealer, I was very happy with their service so I decided to sign the deal without over haggling.

I must admit that it took a bit of shopping around to get that price. Quite a few dealers were only interested in doing a change over for around the 40 mark. The choice was between 2 dealers. 1 for 38k change over and the other 37.5k change over.

Thanks to this forum for letting me know what prices could be obtained out there.

    :) :)
