  1. Luke, I am glad that you are happy with the K&N, as I said - best money ever spent. :D

For the exhaust note, did you take off the mid resonator? The factory one was designed to kill most of the noise. Not sure if they are the same but mine was huge, even w/o the rear mufflers my car was not loud at all before taking it off.

  2. Just sold my TRD Aurion recently in exchange of a family wagon. Took off all the mods and put the originals back before selling it.

Now I have the following bits for sell if anyone interested. You can watch the vidoes here http://www.youtube.c...2?feature=watch to see/hear them. The parts are also suitable for none Supercharged Aurions. They are all in close to new condition.

1 x K&N Typhoon short ram induction kit. (Modified to fit with the supercharger, refer to video Pt3&4) $200 (bought for $350) - Sold

    1 x K&N panel air filter $50 (bought for $125, barely used) - Sold

2 x Magnaflow stainless steel rear muffler. (refer to video clip Pt2) plug in and play with any Aurions. $350 (bought for $700, decent quality) - Sold

    Bonus: TRD, Sportivo badges/stickers (small)

Just added: H11 55W 8000K nearly new HID conversion kit with instructions (see post #8 for details)

  3. When I was travelling in China this year, I found out their Camry is the same as our Aurion, but only 4 cylinders with single exhaust, no sportivo model. And they don't have our Camry model. So to them, I drive a Camry with two exhaust pipes. I tried to explain to them what TRD is. We ended up settling with "I drive a powerful Camry".

  4. The SRI might not be street legal in NSW, besides I have already got a K&N panel, don't want to waste that.

    You said,

There is barely any restriction after that front y-pipe by the way. Changing the rear mufflers alone isn't going to help anything towards this 'engine suffocation' you say is there.

I have to disagree on this one. any muffler will restrict air flow even the straight through ones. And muffler is a big factor for the sound the car is making. I understand that you can only increase the max air flow by changing the whole system but changing the stock rear mufflers will definately help, agree?

I did a search on youtube recently and find some really nice ones such as MTM Audis, too bad it's not available in Au.

  5. No happy with the exhaust sound when in hi rev. It's quiet when drive normally,

It sounds ok when I keep my foot down, but once it's over 5k rev I could hear the engine

suffocating, awful. Thinking of replace the two rear mufflers. I still enjoy the quietness when doing everyday driving

but I want it to scream when in high revs if you know what I mean.

Any suggestions? No Varex or similar please because I know I will never open that valve.

    Chheers!

  6. I tried to order a K&N filter today for my TRD. No luck. They said that rocket dont have a part number for that vehicle. Does anyone have it?

Mate look at the earlier posts on page one. QUOTE (SecaBoy @ Jun 6 2009, 02:22 AM)

    the part number is 33-2326.

I just got one not long ago. got it from ebay. much cheaper than the TRD filter.

A Toyota dealer in Sydney sales the TRD panel filter for $180 I think.

  7. My advice: stay under the radar.

Loud music, loud exhaust, fog lights, fancy stickers, big wheels... all draw attention from the COPs,

Do you know how many ways you can get fined if you get pulled over?

A simple "not comply with vehicle standard" could cover everything you've done to your car.

In addition if you are P plater with a little attitude, you will have less chance.

  8. Just got mine in today. Feels no diff if driving normally.

However when it rev past 4k, the whistle noise from the s/charger is louder. and that's what i like :P

btw any side effects if the carbon filter is removed?

Hey mate...i fitted the K&N filter just by itself for one day, hardley noticed anything...then the following day i removed the carbon filter (just ripped it out) and changed vac hoses as per DJKOR's diagram and instructions, now it breathes heaps better and that 4000rpm mark is the magic starting point,as for any problems i can't see of any at the moment other than my missus raised eyebrows,i forgot to tell her and she noticed (lol).

I switched the hose today, does feel better on low revs. haven't had a chance to "rip out" the carbon filter yet. What's the easiest way to remove the carbon filter w/o destroying it?

  9. My stereo is still working but there is no display. All the keys are not responding. I can still control it from the steering wheel though.

Anyone exp the same problem before? Might be a way to quick fix it before I have to send it to Toyota.

It's the six cd one, like the SX6, not the one with the LCD screen.

    Thanks

  10. It does make the intake noise sound slightly better - especially if you have the TRD the supercharger whine was a tad louder. But don't expect any increases in performance. When I put mine in, it felt faster but I think it was only because I spent almost AUD$100 on the filter and wanted it to feel faster.

Hehe it's called the "Mental horsepower"

  11. the part number is 33-2326.

I have the same K&N also and love it, I could not find a good deal on ebay so I found a discount coupon here: K&N 33-2326, or you can try one of the vendors on the forum here, you can usually find a good deal that way as well. This was very easy to install and I love it. :yahoo:

Thanks mate. I ordered on eBay a few days ago, now I am just waiting..... 2-3 weeks I was told

  12. I swear I mentioned getting this done on my Aurion ZR6.

All I did was grab the K&N part number from the website (panel filter, not the pod filter unit) for the Camry V6 '07.

Then I just went to places like Bursons and Autobarn. Bursons wanted to charge me about $140 for the unit plus $25 to get it shipped from one of the other shops in Newcastle. The part number when they bought it up it said it was for a Camry 3.5L V6.

So I went to Autobarn and did the same thing, this time on their computer it actually came up as Aurion V6 3.5L which is a better sign. They charged me $115 for the filter and no delivery charge. Took 2 days to get here from wherever they got it from, installed and fitted like a charm. :)

Do you still remember the part number Tofu?

Do you feel any difference after using the K&N?

  13. here is the link:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/K-N-Air-Fil...sQ5fAccessories

works out to be about AUD$100 to AUD$110 including postage i think...

    not bad, imo...

and for those that are interested, here is the short ram intake system from K&N for the aurion...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/K-N-Typhoon...sQ5fAccessories

its for the american camry which is a 3.5lt V6 too... same engine, so i cant see why it wouldnt fit... BUT DONT TAKE MY WORD ON IT!!!

Thanks mate, I am getting one for sure. hope my paypal account is working. $110 is cheaper than the TRD panel filter. ($180 from TRD dealer).
