  1. Spotted my old Sportivo on Sunday on the Cunningham Highway. He was coming back from Powercruise plates are 852-JWA. Has anyone else spotted it??? Black 04 Sportivo, lowered, eyelids, has a cannon and large TOYOTA sticker on the front window. . . . Seems like a nice guy, but dont think he is on here.
  2. I got done for the exact same thing!!! I was coming onto the highway and yeah well you know the rest..... I got a noise test done thanks to Trev at CES. Wrote a letter and sent it to the Officer in charge of the nearest Police headquarters.... I got off. But they basically said it was illegal but dont do it again. I still have the letter and plan of framing it just to show that the police will try to get you for anything.. Just on a side note: The officer who booked me was in an unmarked Accord Euro, and told me he saw me be "B-line" the rather large round about that i used to get onto the highway. And in his efforts to catch up to me (i did not exceed the 110 speed limit), he wnt through a speed camera. And yep it went FLASH!!!! Not that he will ever get that fine..... Oh that was a fun night hey Dee
  3. well if u consider that the astra is turbo'd and the stivo isnt i would go the stivo. therefore im pointing towards stivo....wouldnt the insurance be less cause its a non turbo car, seeing as shes a younger driver (below 25) ? The Astra, being turbo, would be easier to squeeze more power out of. And the insurance on my Astra is $200 cheaper then my Sportivo... I dont understand why, but it is..... The Sportivo is more individual i think, but the Astra is sexier, im my opinion
  4. They have a timing chain.... Just because they are Euro, doesnt mean that they are expensive. Service's are comparable to the Corolla. I am 21 the insurance on my Sportivo was $1600 through RACQ. With the Astra i am paying $1400, go figure
  5. Having owned a Sportivo, and now an Astra SRiT. I do think they both have their own strenghts. The Sportivo was a fun car because of the noise and people didnt expect it from a Corolla. The Astra however has the best quality interior and overall finish out of the 2. As for power the Sportivo has 141kW and the Astra SRiT has 147kW. So almost identicle, but the Astra has it over the Sportivo because the power is there down low, but you have to wait for the power in the Sportivo. As for looks, i much prefer the look of the Astra to the Sportivo. In the end it comes down to what you prefer Klara, and what you are willing to pay. When modifying the Astra performance parts are becoming more readily available. I know that Walkinshaw Performance in Melbourne have parts for the SRiT, including exhaust, CAI and lowering springs. And there is always Ebay.... Check out www.opelaus.com if you have any questions. Here are some pics i have of both my cars, just to help you choose :D
  6. I was told by the lady who did my tint, that paint protection is a waste of money. She and her husband to alot of the Zupps dealerships out my way. She told me it only last's for one year, then you need to get it dont again. Thats why i didnt waste my time with it.
  7. I prefer the look of the sedan to the hatch :)
  8. There is no point to this thread. It wasnt a Sportivo he had, rather an Ascent Sport. Most of the problems he whinged about, were in his head. He flogs the SH!T out of his cars... which is why they have all broken at one stage. He went on and on in this thread about how good the Lancer was, but by the time he sold it, he was telling everyone not to buy one because they were a bucket of crap. I never had a problem with my Lancer. The only reason i sold it, was because i wanted something with more go. He recently lowered his Rio, by buying King springs and getting them cut. He had to take them out when he snapped a strut
  9. LOL I know this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He sold the Lancer within about 12 months due to a fire in the engine bay and a ****** gearbox!! I think it all has to do with the way he drives the car Also he drives a new Rio now...
  10. And they still managed to put a cannon on it
  11. That would have to be one of the nicest Corolla's i have EVER seen
  12. I have a MY06.5 Astra. It just means that it is a 2006 model car, and the .5 is an update model. Alot of manufacturer's are starting to use this method to define the cars. Just like how the Commodore and Falcon have the Series 1, 2 and three.
  13. I know what it is!!!!!!!!! But im not telling
  14. I went to the Brisbane Motor Show for the first time on Saturday night. It was quiet interesting how i would rather look at the more affordable cars, then the exotic ones. But i did have a good look at the Lotus display. I only got to take a few pics before my camera batteries died.... Holden Epica (Daewoo replacement for the Vectra, i dont like it) Mitsubishi TMR 380 (which looks like the replacement for my dads car). I personally love this car The optional 19" mags that i didnt know were an option for my car! Ralliart Colt Turbo, which had been specially modified for the Bris Motor Show (i love this car) It also had a very interesting sticker on it.... Seems Trevor is getting very well known for his work! The Colt alo had full Tein coilovers, alot of other Ralliart engine work. A full Blaupunkt stereo by Maroochy Car Sound, Volk Racing TE37 rime, and a custom body kit by Creative bodykits.
  15. Cant wait to go for a ride in the new one! Even though they may put **** on you because its not what they drive, i still love it, and think its really hot!!!!!!!!
