Spotted a White ascent or conquest corolla zze on parramatta road five dock saturday night around 10 pm heading city bound.
had stickers everywhere on the car. literally stickers on every panel. and a tiny canon exhaust? anyone ?
-
yea thats what i was scared of not enough back pressure and losing low down torque for everyday driving.
but i hear that theres like 3 settings? closed, Half open, full open?
So being that you have a varex would you say its close to stock quiet if not quieter when in full closed position?
-
Hey guys,
looking at getting a Cat back system Varex on my sportivo this weekend.
I was searching up on some old threads and alot of people are using 2.5" systems.
Now I've been to about 4 exhuast shops and each 1 thinks that a 2.5" system is too big on 1.8L..
should i still press on and get a 2.5"?
Also is there alot of greater advantage of a mandrel bent system over press bent?
And will anyone with a varex like to share stories or more specifically if the noise output is close to standard when in quiet mode? and how much?
cheers

i know that after i replaced my tyres my steering got alot lighter

NRG, i think you missed the point of Fads post. The ecu senses when the oil is warm enough, and then once the engine reaches 6000rpm it triggers oil pressure to push a pin out to "lift" the engine onto the high cam
ohh i was kind of thinking that we would have a solenoid that is activated by the Ecu when the settings are right
e.g. Rpms, oil temp etc
then to which the solenoid open up an oil passage that allows oil pressure to be applied to the pin to which engages the high lift cam?
lol might sound intimidating but always wanted to know how it works in our cars as it is a very similar system to vtec
-
thought i saw the lift solenoid last time i took my engine cover off..
just a thought that possibly the ecu is connected to an oil temp sensor to which then the ECU recognizes a warm oil temperature
and engages lift only when this oil temperature is high enough and when u hit "WOT"
otherwise if it oil driven lift would always be activated wen the oil is warm enough

i take it the car is fuel injected so possibly run a diagnostic check?
if nothing shows up there i would say fuel problems..fuel pump, injectors etc..
just my 2cents

sorry man the guy hasnt been on msn since
and he doesn't come on these forums much anymore coz he aint got a toyota no more.
his system before was running a 4 channel amp
so i take it he amped the fronts whilst running a sub as well
-
haha yea the car was serviced well i think....
not too sure on the thrashing side..but everyone will say they dont thrash their cars
i'll ask him if he can contact u via msn or sumthing
but i can tell that ur worried haha
he was asian and he was 18 or 19 wen he got the car
how much u pick up the beast for?
and welcome to the forum
-
i think i may know who owned this car previously
i think it should have around 70000kms on the car
and running sumitomo tyres?
if it is he should be on the forum as well.
-
thanks .... awesome feedback
picked up the car hopefully it turns out fine when registering it
-
thanks for the replys, very useful info
in regards to a receipt of purchase would that be an equivalent to the owner writing a letter that he sold the car to me?
-
Interested in buying a car that was previously registered interstate and now is in NSW
since this car hasnt been registered for about a year now
does anyone know the process of changing name of ownership on the car whilst unregistered?
do i just use the interstate papers to change name?
thanks
p.s wouldve rung the RTA but they are closed and wanted some opinions
-
also that pulley sound that you complained about earlier
is most likely the tensioner pulley.
a mcchanic at toyota told me he has replaced a few celica ones.. hope that helps
-
whoa thats 6k i take it?
just enough blue when you look into it and a white output... awesome work.
-
lol sorry as stated above
thats a car with the 1st rims on it
IMO doesnt really suit it
4th ones are HOT
-

i currently have an 05 sportivo with about 35000 kms on the clock
i've had this problem with my gearbox where in the morning on a cold start.
In the first 5 mins of driving if i want to shift back down to 2nd to take off again,
it feels as though there is alot of resistance in letting me put it back in.
i try to nudge it into first and still wont let me put it in (at less that 5km/h).
i have to come to a complete stop to put it into either 1st or 2nd gear
after it warms up everything is smooth
i was told that the 2005 sportivo's had the clutch problem fixed already?
could it be the clutch plate or otherwise?
hope to get something out of warranty for this
anyone else have this problem?
cheers
