  1. Trust me the genuine bars are MUCH better than the aftermarket crap. The genuine bars have more support while the aftermarket offer minimal support. I found out when i bought both genuine and aftermarket for fun. There are also a lot of other things to talk about but you can find real genuine bars on ebay for cheap. It's not like you have to go to a dealer to buy accessories.

    thanks for the info Buff'

  2. That bar won't fit because you have the newer revision and that bar is designed for the old revision.

Do you drive in areas where there are lots of animals or do you intend to hit a few pedestrians? There is no point getting a nudge bar if you are in the city.

Also i would avoid getting an aftermarket nudge bar as your airbags may not work when they need to.

Oh OK thanks for your reply.

I didn't know there was a difference between 06-10 rav4, I thought 2011 build would be the same.

No animals, just a looks thing, mind you a few pedestrians wouldn't hurt either. Better the nudgebar than the bonnet etc.

I read in the manual that fitting non genuine nudgebar MAY affect deployment of the Airbags etc. I have often wondered about the validity of this claim. Toyota obviously want you to buy their overpriced bar as apposed to non genuine. I'd love someone to explain how an aftermarket nudge bar in all reality is different to the genuine thing. Must be steel thickness, weight, weld quality bolts etc which will affect the precise deployment of the Airbags.......YEAH RIGHT!!!

What then for all the localised aftermarket accessories fitted to vehicles etc.like east coast bullbars ARB etc.

  3. Hey all, long time Lurker, first time poster...I think.

I have purchased but not yet received a 2011 MY11 Rav4 CV 2WD 2.4l Wildfire Red, what a mouth full.

I will need to make sure the vehicle I pick up is indeed a MY11 as that is what I was promised.(not a MY09)

Can anyone tell me where I will be able to locate this information? eg, On the compliance or build plate, or on the Registration papers or vehicle books/manuals.

Thanks in advance, looking forward to getting the car and contributing to the forum.

  4. Hey guys can we have some pics, I've checked out alot of your galleries etc, but not a lot to look at.

I've collected up a hand ful of pics of AT-X models with Wheel and spoiler enhancements but would like to see more...

Any one recommend any links where I might be able to find some more?

I myself will be in the market fairly soon and have been watching carsales and the like here in Tassie but mostly looks like I will be picking up an ex government vehicle from pickles.

Yesterday 2 went at the auction house, the first 10/08 with 38k silver for $18,000 and the second was a 10/07 with 43k for $17,900 in white. Both I think were very good prices from my research over the last couple of months.

My budget will be about $20k initially and then to add some wheels etc. like the 18 Osaka Mannus look great.

Thanks guys I'm watching with interest.

ps was set on the 2.4 Camry, but I think the extra power of the Aurion would suit me better.

  5. Thanks DJ.

This should help me alot, i'll do it first thing tomorrow when i can get some light. It amazes me on how it got jammed.. first it was just twisted then i gave it that "good ol' tug" that made it even worse! Makes me wish for the simpler times of 1979 when my fathers old Honda accord's belt. which was just the retractor and the shoulder anchor assembly which was just one big loop and one big bolt, all visible and easy to reach.

Are you able to unbolt it from itsanchor point?

So you have more belt to play with.
