  1. There is a front point for the hook behind a plastic square in the front bumper but if you have the nudge bar fitted it is covered up by the bar so not sure what to do in that instance

the plastic square pops out and you screw the hook in to the thread

  4. Hi all

Have just done the return trip

Filled up a sutton forest with 91 unleaded averaged 9.9lt per 100kms filled up at Avenel. light came on with 29 kms to go and it indicated i had already done 599 so

    by my calculations i still had a 127kms to go eg 72 lts / 9.9lts = 727km

I think the light my be linked to the display ?? not sure though

Would have easily made it to Tallarook service station but the next services may have been a bit to risky with out some better knowledge of the area as there is some new services popping up between Melbourne and waggarata and I havent been up that way for a while plus having the kids on board I opted for the sensible approach.

After filling up at Avenel we got 9.0ltrs per 100 for the remaining 160 km to home, (going by this distance may have made the out skirts of melb)

Whilst in Bundanoon got my father in laws GPS out and compared the speed. there was a 5kph diff So again i adjusted the cruise to reflect this although i was most likely under the setting i used for the trip up by a few Kph. This time I also let the cruise do most of the work only took over if I felt it was going to drop down to far and rev beyond 3500 rpm

With the E10 i got 10.4 for the same trip will give the 98 oct ago for the next trip around christmas time

But overall very happy with the result considering the size of the car and the hills on some parts of the hume in NSW

It will be much better when the roadworks are finished spent some time at 80kph

I also believe that the higher the cruise speed the higher fuel consuption as when we dropped back to 100kph the averaged dropped only to rise again once we went back to 110kph

hope this info helps refer to previous post for info on trip up

    See ya

  5. Hi everyone 09 kluger alttitude

I have just arrived in Bundanoon in the southern high lands of NSW

Left Melbloune with a full tank of e10 from coles service station and 940kms on the clock filled up at albury with e10 again from united arrived with just unerd 1/2 a tank and a total trip of 700ks (therabouts)

averaged 10.4-10.6 with 2 adults and 2 kids couple of bikes on the back and enough clothes for a week very happy with this considering the weight of the car being close to 2350kgs (guessing here but close) loaded

went up the hume so sat on the 110 to 112 on cruise turnrd off the cruise on some of the bigger hills.

Checked the speedo on one of the overhead gantries on the way out of Melboune had the cruise right on 110 and the gantry said 104 so did compensate for this when setting the cruise control not sure if this effected the overall result?

will try normal unleaded on the way home next week and report back

Would love to get the figures better than 10 like the some others in this thread. Will it happen ???

  6. Hi guys,

Im close to ordering a new Altitiude and want to upgrade the standard system with a 6 CD / ipod capability / bluetooth function system. Obviously, I can upgrade to the Toyota 6 CD / bluetooth system or go aftermarket which is probably better quality and maybe even a little cheaper.

So, who has installed an aftermarket system and what did you get? Is the aftermarket system compatible with the steering wheel mounted controls? And for those who have gone this far, have you replaced the speakers (what size are they)?

Just trying to get a little info up my sleeve before I head into the dealer to order.

    Cheers in advance!

does the dealer actually have one as i heard that they are not bringing them in any more (some one may correct me on this) but they are still advertising them.

I hope they have one for you as we got ours 2 weeks ago and it was the one of a handful left in melb

  7. I went down to my local dealer today to get a quote for an AWD Altitude (white) with;

    nudge bar

    side steps

    roof rack kit

    bonnet/headlight protector

    reverse parking sensors

    weathershields to both front doors

carpet mat set and rear cargo mat

Under a business registration the total came to $58,500 on-road. The saleman stated they could probably throw in most of the extras for free bringing the price down to the $53k-$55k area. Now, to me this seems pretty steep. Particularly when people seem to be getting KX-S AWD models for low $50k prices. Salesman said there was less margin in the Altitude model. When I put to him the high price and the option of upgrading to a KX-S AWD for not much more $$, to his credit he didn't try and bulls*#t me and had to agree. Seems perhaps the Altitude is not all value for money? At least when you consider the drive-away prices people are getting for the next model up.

Was told by the dealer i got mine through that is i was to buy a kxs i could get a gold fleet deal which was about $6500 off plus trade in then asked about the Altittude and was told that fleet pricing was not available due to all the extras that they had put on it (they called it a retail car) still managed $2000 off with my fleet discount which i was happy with as by the time we added the extras on the altitude to a kxs it was way over my limit

  8. My kluger has 500k on it and I have been trying not go over 3000rpm have used the cruize abit only to get use to it

We have been getting 11kpl around town including school pick ups etc which ias better than my 2lt v6 mazda lol

Was told by the dealer to bring it back in a month for a check and that there was no need for an oil change until 10000ks unless i wanted it

I have been told by a friend at toyota to change the oil when it goes in for the check

What is the right thing to do ??

I hope I can get the same economy as mayhewga on our trip to sydney soon that means about 750 ks to a tank

    Thanks

has any one got a set of the kluger carpet mats do they cover the middle seat in the middle row as the rubber ones thay gave me are very average

    Twiggy

    Twiggy,

  11. Thanks Speed racer for the pics they look great

I am not fussed about which ones i get I just like to see how they look on the car first

I will be keeping an eye out on ebay for the ones like yours aswell

I have asked the guy with the straight ones to send some pics but he must be a shop or something as he is waiting for the purchaser to e-mail him some

so i am not getting my hopes up about a timely responce.

If I get them i will post them asap

    Thanks

  12. Hi All

    Thanks for your replys

Those ones on ebay were the ones I was thinking about but I agree with the comments that a picture would be good prior to handing over the cash

I think the straight end wouldn't look to bad rather than the curved ends

if any one has any photos it would be great

Speed racer what was the brand you brought ????

here is a nother type from powerful it is the aluminium side step

    Thanks

  13. A friend bough a set for RAV4 and was very happy with the next day delivery to Melbourne and the way these fit the car.

Personally, I see no need but I am tall

    Hi there Kwach10

Do you happen to know which brand they brought ?

Was it the powerful brand ??

    Thanks

  14. Just wondering if anyone has brought any after market side steps for their Kluger

We pick up our Altitude tomorrow and I would like to get a set of side steps but the 1000 bucks for the one from toyota was a bit to much

does any one have any recomendations

    Thanks

    Twiggy

  15. How many people have been quoted/signed the dotted line for an AWD Altitude? Given the vehicle is a 'special addition' are they still giving reasonable discounts and what variation in prices have you been offered? Im about to started negotiating with dealers for an AWD Altitude and to be forewarned is to be forearmed! I was originally looking to purchase a Prado GXL D4D, however, dealerships have dried up the massive discounts they were recently giving due to the sudden rarity of diesel Prados in the country at the moment (Toyota is suffering financially). Hopefully, this won't have the same affect on Klugers.

The lowest quote I was able to get for a Altitude FWD was $47.5 drive away, he would not budge even a little , said very little margin in it the Altitude. good luck.

Hi there this is my first post

We are very excited about picking up or 2wd altittude tomorrow

on road for $48700 with tinted windows front and rear, tow bar, front and rear parking sensors, carpet mats and nudge bar after trade in of $2500 $46200 last one on the show room floor

not many left now really looking forward to haveing our first new car

    Thanks

    Twggy
