  1. Hi Guys

I must concur with the fuel consumption figures you guys are quoting. We purchased our SX-6 in June last year with 18k on the clock. It has just had it's 40k service and we are regularly getting low 8's on the highway and 10-12 in the city. I'm "really anal" about fuel according to better half and run on Shell E 10 most of the time, and a lite right foot seems to make all the difference. The car is VERY responsive and when I was running on

on Premium Unleaded the thing would have done 0-100k in 6 seconds I reckon!!

  2. Hi Guys

Just received this in the mail (from Toyota. Bertie Street, Port Melbourne)

Ëngine oil supply pipe assembly for the VVT-i Actuator located on the left hand rear cylinder bank may develop a small crack inside the rubber hose due to an unsuitable material.Engine oil contaminants from blow by gas combined with the hose material, can result in the crack developing. If the vehicle continues to operate in this condition, the crack can expand due to oil pressure fluctuations and engine oil may leak from the hose.

If you weren't aware before...you are now!!

Doesn't sound to serious but I'll get mine done ASAP.

    Good Luck!!

  3. Just wanted to know if anyone in the Forum has put the latest 19 inch Kluger wheels on their RAV4

Im keen to buy a set of 4 x 19 inch kluger wheels as i need to change tyres in the next 6 months so i thought good opportunity to add some new to the RAV4.

i called a few places and getting mixed messages, Tempe Tyres say no problems it will fit, but Bob Jane say it will not fit unless some modifications is done.

apparently they have a different offset which i dont know what that means.

and finally Beaurepairs wouldnt even give me an answer unless i bring the wheel over for them to try it out.

any help would be great, if i cant fit them in i might just replace the tyres when it comes time to changing it.

    Bruster

don't forget that 19"rims could do bad things to the accuracy of your speedo.

"offset refers to PCD. Pitch Circle Diameter. Which is "the distance from the centre point to the centre of each wheel stud hole and the distance between the holes in relation to each other."

Sometimes otherwise known as "the stud pattern." If you are getting conflicting info from tyre dealers, I would say take it to the guy who says it can be done and hope he's right.

  5. Morning All

Bit of a random thread – I am heading to Port Douglas in a few weeks and need a hire car.

I have found this mob called Vizivo – http://www.vizivo.org/

who have great prices – $412 for 7 days..

    Question is, My family is 2 adults , 1x 5 & 8yr old, 1 x 20 month yr old + 2 cases, 4 hand luggage and a Mclaren stroller – Will the RAV4 be suitable?

We will only use it a few times but getting a Taxi for 5 with a trailer for luggage is $190 each way so the car makes sense. The main journey is Cairns Airport to Port Douglas (70KM)

Hoping a RAV4 owner can advise??

    Cheers

    Jeloz

PS - I do belong here as my wife drives an 08 Kluger!

    Jeloz

should do it without any dramas

I was amazed at the level of space in the rear compartment of our SX-6 when we picked it up a few weeks ago...

check out the area under the rear carpet for storage...you'll fit plenty of stuff in there, even before you start putting bags in...

the kids will be OK in the back too...we fit my 3 strapping 20something boys in the back without ant probs...and they are ALL footie players over 6ft.(bit light on in the rear footwell space that day...but ahh well)

    have fun in Port Douglas

  6. My SX-6 could benefit from cold-air intake and headers with a stainless twin system...

but the cost/benefit analysis would come in too heavy on the cost side and a little light on the benefit side

having a 4WD with the power-to weight ratio of my RAV is a real bonus. I'm not sure I need the extra power

I'd probly be better off looking at mods that might lower the fuel consumption a little

    but then again.....

  7. i was just thinking of "Rav 4 Club"or "Rav 4 Club Australia"

    nice and easy

    Rav 4 Dave

    hey boys

Girlie n I are takin our newly acquired '07 SX-6 for a spin to Tenterfield on the 24th July.

    We are from Bris Vegas.

    Anybody wanna tag along?? :D

  8. Living in sydney - city areas and driving a V6, - turns it into a fuel guzzler....

    27.5 litres drove 161.5Km = 5.87Km per litre, => 17 litres / 100K, - that's with a BP 95Ron

I wonder what stats are out there? - do I have a heavy foot on the pedal.... :whistling:

Driving a V6 in Bris Vegas...trying REALLY hard to keep my foot off the throttle...and the tacho BELOW

    2000RPM...and I'm still returning 11.68L/100k's over 1500k's (which included 500k's freeway driving)

using Shell V-Power 1 in 4 tankfuls and E-10 the rest of the time... I think that's pretty reasonable for a V6

    Wifey's Mazda 3 is getting 10.4L/100k's

Thats about right stapo - similar to my figures. Correct me if wrong, I think Shell V power is 98RON. Try using a 95RON from BP or CALTEX and see if your figures improve - mine did.

  10. Hey Bruster

sorry u r havin trouble. Mine works fine and guidance is constantly updating...

maybe bite the bullet and go to back to your dealer for a lesson, you've got a ZR6 so they shouldn't mind helping you out

I've spent 10 years in the car game in parts and service

find someone helpful and pick their brains...they won't mind
