  1. Hmmm... Ok, my 2003 didnt have steering controls so I didnt have to worry about that but the other plug to connect to speakers, light switch, etc fits in 100%. I would think the plugs for the steering controls would be similar too but I can't be 100% sure on that.

  2. For your Camry though you'd need to buy some plastic parts to over the sides as the units that came with the face lifted acv40 is smaller than what you have at the moment.

EDITED: just re read your original post and you are aware of this already :)

  3. Hello. Anyone here can tell me how their rear tinting look please? Got an Atara and noticed that when I look at the rear view mirror, it doesn't look 100% clear. The side windows are ok... It's just the rear that seems to have some distortion - like if you look at a straight horizontal line (ie roof of the car behind) it doesn't look clear.

  4. Ah OK, thanks :)

I noticed that the update process for the SatNav units on the new AtaraSL/HybridL are different to the older Camry's... just hope that updating it won't be more expensive :P Considering we just bought a GPS for the wife's car for under $100 with free lifetime map updates - and this GPS unit has spoken street names, which I'm surprised that the built-in ones didn't.

  5. Hello... just want to find out from other Camry Atara SL and Hybrid L owners what version of the map was installed in your Camry's Sat Nav unit.

Was trying to locate a place here in WA the other day and it couldn't find the address. When I checked the map version, mine was dated back in July 2011. I got the car in Oct 2012 so was expecting at least a 2012 map version.

    Just curious....

  6. Thanks for all the replies. Make sense now as to why the dealer said it can't be done on the Camry unless they have another button put in to turn it on/off... since the existing one only controls the rear.

Just did a quick test on my Camry and the rear sensor has an on/off switch but even in on position, the rear sensor is only activated when on reverse - which makes sense but why the on/off switch I wonder?.

  7. That's cool... was just wondering why they can't put the front sensor in the Atara SL when they can for the other Atara's.

Also, the wiring shouldn't be an issue as the Aurion Presara & Sportivo ZR6 both have the blindspot monitor and auto diming high beam and both of those cars came with front sensors.

Oh well.. just gotta get used to the car - the view feels quite different to my old 2003 Camry Sportivo. I was parking the other day and the front looks like it's quite close to the car in front but when I got out of the car, I was still quite far away :P

Yeah they CAN'T be installed on the SL because or sports bumper and sports headlight. Different wiring for the headlight and different bumper :)

Check the site you will be able to see the comparison:

    http://www.toyota.co...y_RangeandSpecs

    Sorry I got it wrong.

Basically the SL version has the following:

    • Blind Spot Monitor and Automatic High Beam
    • Rain sensing wipers and electric rear sunshade
    • JBL premium audio system with 7" display and Satellite Navigationand SUNA™ - live traffic data updates
    • Reverse Camerawith path prediction reference lines and auto dipping side mirrors
    • Dual exhaust
    • Sports driving mode with quick response paddle shift technology
    • Power output 135kW

Basically its needs more wiring for Automatic High Beams and various other electronics that it has over all the other versions of the Camry.

  8. Hello... just wondering if anyone has bought the new Camry Atara SL and got front sensors installed?

Asking as I was told that the front sensors can be installed on the Altise, the Atara S(&R) and the Atara SX but NOT the Atara SL due to wiring at the front bumper - which I found a bit strange.

  9. My 2003 Camry Sportivo had central locking issues every now and again since early 2011 and the Service Dept couldnt find anything wrong with it...

In Oct 2012, I had a flat battery in which I got RAC to come and have a look at it... being under warranty and the batt showing as faulty, they replaced it. Within 2 days, the battery is flat again. So they checked the charge and when idle, the alternator is doing its job but when the aircon, headlight and stereo is on, it is draining the battery quite quickly. Very strange that the batt light is not lighting up as this is a sign that the alternator is not working properly!?

Anyway, had the alternator replaced and since then I noticed that the central locking is heaps more responsive so not sure if my alternator was starting to play up over 12 months ago and only really crapped itself out this month.

The mechanic I spoke to from Toyota told me that they are getting quite a few Gen5 Camry's with bad alternators in the last year or so?!?!

  10. Hi,

I have one of those new head units from Toyota (the one with 6-disc changer, bluetooth and USB). Anyway, anyone have any issues with them? I'm asking becoz every other day or so, when I start the car, the unit seems to scan all the discs and start playing from Disc 1. I had one of those older units (the one without the USB feature) before and it always remembers the last dics/song played.

Just wondering if it's my unit or has anyone experienced this before too. Hope there's nothing wrong coz this is the 2nd unit (1st one didn't even want to accept any discs - the green light doesnt want to come on).

    Cheers.

  11. Wow... I haven't seen that amount for servicing in a long long long while... Most of my service cost around $200... The basic cost of my 90000 service is $450 plus the fix they're doing which is estimated to be 5 hours of labour so I'll know the total when I pick up my car this afternoon (guess it'll be around the $1100 mark).

for my 2002 camry sportivo 2.4 for my 105,000 sevice was only $130 from castlemain toyota in vic,

it was $60 cheaper then bendigo toyota my local one so i think it varies from dealer to dealer

  12. Hi...

Just wondering how many of you take your Camry's back to Toyota for servicing? My family has owned a few Toyota's and have taken our cars back to the dealers for servicing for over 20 years now and the cost has always been reasonable. However, the last 2 times I took my Camry in for service has been quite expensive (the 82500km minor service and the 90000km service)... the basic service is OK but for the 82500 service they recommended a complete clean of the aircon system which cost an extra $500... and for the 90000 service, they've indentified a leak underneath the engine and labour for that is about 5 hours.

Just want to know what other Camry owners have experienced with regards to servicing cost when they bring their cars back to the dealer.

By the way, I used to own a 94 Camry 2.2 and servicing for that one was way way cheaper than my current car (part of it is probably inflation but I thought having to do a major service every 15,000 instead of 10,000 would bring the cost slightly down a bit).

    Cheers,

    Stein

  13. Hi,

Had the same issue as you with my central locking. In the end I just reset it by setting my central locking to 2-stage (drivers door then the rest) and back to the 1-stage locking. After that it's working back to normal... So not sure what happened in the first place but keeping an eye out on it.

    Hi All,

I was wondering if any of you had come across this issue.

My car's central locking started playing up some months ago. To describe the problem, when I press the keyless entry button to "Lock" the doors, the car flashes indicators twice (after a few seconds) and chirps the horn twice. The doors do not lock (this happens when trying to use the key to manually lock the doors as well).

I have found that trying to lock the doors using the door lock feature inside does the same thing. The doors do not lock, and then the hazards flash followed by the horn chirp.

To sum it up, its exactly what would happen if you were to hold the door open and try to lock the doors. I can confirm there is no "Door Open" indicator on the dash. The problem seems to be getting worse now, to the point I have to leave my car unlocked.

Anyone come across this? Or know what it could be? Fuse maybe? Electrical Fault? I've tried spraying with RP7 on the door latch, but doesnt seem to have any effect.

Any help / suggestions would be great!.. Thanks. Toyota Camry Sportivo 2004 4Cyl Manual Model.

  14. Yup, have checked it by unscrewing the 3 screws but didn't find anything unusual about it.

    Thanks for the replies...

u can easily check wat is happening to it foglight before buying a new one, crawl under the front bumper, unscrew 3 screws, then the rest just look and undo, then look for any **** happened or not, crack? just use silicon... $10 or less
  15. Hi...

I have 2003 Camry Sportivo. I recently noticed that the driver side fog light have some water mist in it. I've had the car since new and I've never had to change the bulb in the fog light so didn't think that the rubber seal is the cause. There's no cracks or anything obvious like that.

My question is, can I leave it like that (ie. wont have any long term damages like rust in the wiring) or should I get a replacement? If replacing, does anyone know how much they cost?

    Thanks,

    Stein

  16. Hi,

I've just installed a new Toyota CD changer with mp3 & bluetooth in my 2003 Camry and was wondering if anyone else with that stereo have noticed that there's a big volume increase when switching to CD (especially newer discs ) from the radio. In my old deck, the CD is a bit louder than the radio but it wasn't as much of a diff as this new unit.

Anyone with the same experience or feedback or suggestions...?? Thanks :)

    Cheers...

  17. Hi all... with regards to the head units... are the plugs at the back of the head units the same for all Toyota's? For example, would the head unit on the new Corolla's fit in to a 2004 Camry?

Asking as my current head unit is playing up a bit and wanted to upgrade it. I want a double-din unit so that reduces my options - and I'm not willing to spend over $800 so that took away those double-din units by Pioneer, Alpine and Eclipse.

Saw the new Corolla's and really liked the head-units 6-disc changer with built-in bluetooth, mp3, input for mp3 players, etc..
