  1. Ok guys, I've decided. Actually, I've done better than decided, I've bought the Honda Accord Euro Ltd Ed.

I really like the Lib GT but it's way too expensive brand new and too many kms on a 2nd hand one for the price that I'm willing to pay.

I'm pretty happy with my buy and will most probably be picking it up on Friday.

I'll definitely still be on this forum as I think that my relationship with some of the members here have gone beyond Corollas. It's good to see friendships form even if it started out just over cars.

Congratulations E-Gene for becoming a dad soon. And also congrats on your purchase on Accord Euro. I had a 2005 Corolla Conquest before and it was sold to make a way for Accord Euro standard. Euro's 6 speed manual is a gem :) B)

  2. nice buy the EUro

but what do u guys honeslty think >> i drive a sportivo

and my old man said he wants me to change to the euro and he would pay the difference because he is a honda man and doesnt like the rolla

would you guys swap to a euro from a sportivo ??

i personally feel the sportivo is more fun to drive and is quicker then the manual euro (my dad drives one)

i guess he is just thinking about resale value etc etc but i feel the euro is too common and has a too family car feel

Euro has bits of sporty edge, although not as sporty as the Sportivo. I got the 6 speed manual version, the gearchange is just smooth and precise, while the previous Corolla was not smooth at all.

Although Euro too common, but Corolla far too common on the road...does not matter if you're driving Sportivo or non Sportivo, it's just basically a "Corolla"

After driving Euro for a week, it drives better. Close to European feel is all I can say :)

  3. That's great man. Good luck with it :)

Btw, how much did you purchase the Euro for? A family friend is interested in one ATM.

Purchased black Accord Euro standard 6MT for $33,900 drive away (brought down the dealer's original price by some $4,000). That's including 12 months free comprehensive insurance, tint, metallic paint, mat, rear parking sensors.

yeah, that deal was advertised on the radio, 12 months free comprehensive insurance, did you get the 5 year/24-hour Roadside Assistance as well?

Yeah that 5 yr / 24hrs Roadside Assistance was part of it too :)

  4. That's great man. Good luck with it :)

  5. Last Saturday I have sold my Corolla Conquest. It's still a very good car to drive but have to sell it, need a bigger car. So I bought a 2007 Honda Accord Euro 6MT, it's just what I need. It does not mean I will leave this forum as I still have Camry so I will visit here some time.

  6. I'll be driving to Sydney (from Melb) next month on Corolla Conquest manual. Since it will be my first longest drive ever, I'll make sure the oil, coolant, then especially tyres and its pressure are fully checked. The car will have a rest when it comes to fuel station for 30-45 mins before continue journey. Any other advise would be much appreciated.

  7. At least it looks much better with the lines on the door and the horizontal grille as well as the headlights. I hope our version will be similar to theirs.

    This is their version.

...while compared to this JDM version. IMHO I prefer their version, so what's your opinion?

    Press Release:

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today the Japanese launch of the Auris*1, a strategic compact passenger vehicle for both Japan and Europe. In Japan, the Auris is available through "Netz" dealers nationwide; its European release is scheduled for the spring of 2007.

Created with "performance you can feel" as its development concept, the Auris is designed to transcend the conventional notion of a compact vehicle, with individuality and exceptional performance that convey its appeal the moment you see it, as well as when you get in and drive it.

Under the notion of "a five-meter impression"—with sights set on creating a positive impression even before the car is driven more than five meters—the Auris strives for a sense of expectation from the moment the key is in your hand. It does this with attractive European styling on the outside, innovation and quality that can be immediately sensed on the inside—thanks to a center instrument cluster integrated with a bridged center console—and driving pleasure that can be felt as soon as the engine is started and the car begins to move.

A newly developed platform, new 1.8-liter engine and newly designed suspension provide outstanding vehicle performance and engaging driving pleasure, while also achieving balance between excellent maneuverability and a spacious, highly functional interior that rivals that of a medium-class vehicle. The Auris also boasts safety and environmental performance at the top levels of its class*2.

*1 The Auris name is derived from the English word "aura" meaning "a distinctive quality or atmosphere," which expresses the distinctive sense of presence of the vehicle.

*2 Compared to vehicles of similar engine displacement

    Vehicle Outline

Distinctive, European-Style Exterior and Innovative, Highly Functional Interior

    Exterior

Created by ED2 (Toyota Europe Design Development S.A.R.L.), Toyota's European design base located in southern France, and based on the Toyota-brand design philosophy of "Vibrant Clarity," the exterior of the new Auris boasts an individualistic short and wide form that is recognizable at a glance, even from a distance.

Combined with headlights extending to the sides, the vehicle's front end has an impressive, unified form that integrates the bumper with the hood to create a front view with a sporty and open feel.

The side view, with a low, forward-leaning beltline and sloped quarter pillars, evokes an energetic feeling that expresses the vehicle's powerful driving performance.

When viewed from behind, the car's staunch rear creates an impression of action.

    Interior

An advanced image is conveyed through an innovative design that integrates the shape from the center instrument cluster to the bridged center console, using the European architectural form of a "flying buttress"* as a motif.

The high position of the gear-shift lever and parking break and a comfortable, close-fitting cockpit create a sporty feel.

The main controls, including the gear-shift lever, have been concentrated within easier reach of the driver's seat to enhance operability and functionality.

Close attention has been paid to every detail to create a sense of quality from the substantial sound of doors closing to the smooth operational feel of the audio-system and other switches.

    * A gothic architectural technique that uses arched supports located outside a structure to hold up the roof, thereby creating a more open interior space

Outstanding Driving Performance and a Comfortable Ride Refined in Europe

A newly developed platform and newly designed suspension achieve outstanding handling and stability as well as a smooth, comfortable ride. The suspension has been tested on roads and circuit courses in Europe to achieve optimal tuning for exceptional performance under various conditions, from high-speed driving on winding roads to highway cruising.

High-rigidity body construction ensures steering responsiveness and quiet operation.

A 1.8-liter Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) engine that provides excellent acceleration performance, high fuel efficiency and outstanding environmental performance, and a 1.5-liter VVT-i engine that boasts excellent performance and high fuel efficiency are available.

The Super CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) supports outstanding fuel efficiency and smooth driving. An easy-to-operate seven-speed Sports Sequential Shiftmatic transmission that provides the feel of a manual transmission and takes "fun to drive" to a higher level is available on models with the 1.8-liter engine.

The four-wheel disk brakes, standard on all vehicles in the series, provide excellent braking performance and feature superior control with a high-quality braking feeling.

Spacious and Highly Functional Interior and Superb Maneuverability

An excellent package created through the adoption of a newly developed platform allows for a spacious cabin on par with that of a medium-class vehicle and relaxing flat-surfaced legroom in the rear (on two-wheel-drive models), as well as a roomy rear cargo space, while also achieving superb maneuverability. Stow spaces abound.

The rear seats, equipped with a reclining function, have backrests that fold in a 60/40 split and a single-motion tilt-down mechanism that allows both the seat cushions and the backrests to easily fold and stow away, creating an expansive and flat cargo space.

The Smart Entry & Start System employs a key that does not need to be pulled out to lock and unlock the doors, as well as a push button for starting the engine.

An automatic air-conditioner with a pollen-removal mode filters out pollen, dust and other impurities from the air. An additional air conditioning vent is incorporated at the top of the center instrument cluster to enhance comfort throughout the vehicle.

Safety and Environmental Performance at the Top of its Class

The GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) construction has been further evolved to create an advanced collision-safety body structure. During collision tests under stricter-than-normal standards, the speed was set at 55km/h, and the vehicle was subjected to omni-directional, vehicle-to-vehicle collision tests with a vehicle up to the 2-ton range. Through the use of a body that effectively absorbs collision impact by diffusing it throughout its structure, Toyota satisfied all independent targets for survival space and dummy injury.

The pedestrian-injury-lessening body structure has been evolved to further reduce pedestrian head injuries, pursuing a class-top level of protection.

The front-seat structures are based on the WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) concept and come with stronger seat frames and greater backrest give. They were designed based on analyses using THUMS (Total Human Model for Safety), incorporating a structural design that reduces stress on the neck during low-speed rear impact.

All vehicles in the series have been certified as having emissions levels 75% lower than the 2005 standards under the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles. The 180G "S-package" vehicles boast fuel efficiency that is 20 percent greater than the Japanese 2010 fuel efficiency standards* and all 1.5-liter vehicles and 1.8-liter four-wheel-drive vehicles achieve fuel efficiency that exceeds those standards by 10 percent, thus qualifying for incentives under the Japanese government's Green Taxation System.

Eco-VAS (Eco-Vehicle Assessment System)—Toyota's original comprehensive environmental impact assessment system—was implemented to achieve the overall reduction of environmental impact throughout the vehicle's entire lifecycle as efficiently as possible. Environmental targets were set in the vehicle development stage and a life cycle assessment was carried out, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions and other atmospheric pollutants, not just during the use stage, but also through all stages of the vehicle’s life, from manufacture to disposal.

A review of the materials, processing methods and adhesives used for interior parts resulted in a reduction in the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) used, thereby also reducing the discomforting odors emitted from such compounds.

An Eco Drive Indicator lights up when the vehicle is being efficiently operated to raise the driver's awareness of environmentally considerate driving and contribute to higher fuel efficiency.

  9. Yesterday I just test drove the Mazda 3 MPS at Mazda dealer, and the guy I met was so kind enough to let me test drive Mazda 3 MPS B)

I had a little trouble launching the car from the start, as I stalled the engine two times, because the clutch wont let me release my left foot quickly as I did on my Corolla manual :D

    Honestly I love the turbo rush, from 3,000rpm onwards...and the acceleration is breathtaking :o :o :o :o :o

I did not realize after I had fully accelerated the car, I have done 120km/h in 70km/h zone :ph34r:

Yesterday the weather was hot in Melbourne (30 degrees) and I don't think this car perform the best yet, all it need is cold weather and voila! :D

And now the price, it is just a bit above $43,000 driveaway for the basic version, that works out around $935 monthly payment (that is without balloon, without deposit as well) for 5 years term.

Just wondering to those Mazda 3 MPS owner, how much you pay for comprehensive insurance annually if you don't mind telling? I'm on Rating 1 and I'm just curious to know.

Well that's my short review of Mazda 3 MPS test drive. I love to have it but I think it's too far beyond my budget :D

  10. On mine, the best I can achieve is approx 512km on a full tank, that's with the fuel light already on and the needle just above the first line above "E".

    Auto?

I just got to 520km and the needle is just at 3/4 and I haven't been gentle lately. (BP Ultimate)

Manual, running on regular unleaded. I could achieve more with Ultimate / Optimax fuel but couldn't afford it for now.

  11. Even if you asked me the $35K sticker price is so dear for Camry Sportivo, the dealer told me the top spec Camry, the Grande with same engine as the rest of Camry range retailed for $48k drive away (Satellite navigation included):blink:

  12. I was invited by a dealer sales rep who sold me Corolla last October. So I came that night to New Camry launch at Chadstone Toyota. I was impressed by the external looks of the car (particularly the Sportivo). It looks really nice when viewing in person. Looking at the interior, pretty well done design but the knobs and buttons feel cheap. He then came to me offering me a test drive which I would love to. He gave me the key to automatic Sportivo and let me drive, accompanied by my wife (he didnt came along, was too busy with other guests). It rides so well on the road, quieter than previous Camry and suspension is a bit firm (given this is Sportivo model). With only about 185km on odometer, I decided to floor down the pedal to see how it goes. Unfortunately this car is really slow, even slower than my manual Corolla Conquest. The car feels heavy and I think that the Sportivo could handle more power (I wish Toyota could put the forthcoming 3.5L V6 from Aurion release later this year into this Camry, only for Sportivo model. Like the Corolla Sportivo that have Celica VVTL-i engine to differentiate from the rest of Corolla VVT-i models. It feels quiet inside, pretty close to a Lexus car. When comes to braking, it bites so well even I brake really hard. Back into the dealer, he asked whether I really like the car then said it's pretty nice. He asked me whether I want to trade my Corolla in for the new Sportivo. Well I want to find out more about the pricing. And now comes the price, manual Sportivo priced at $35,363 drive away. He told my car will be sold between $16,500 to $17,000 and he will take it for $17,000 if I say yes to buy new Sportivo that night. Well, I don't really think it's worth the money to get a slower car. I'd rather stick to my Corolla and looking forward to keep it for another 3-5 yrs time. By that time hopefully more affordable new cars with more new features will be rolled into Australian shore. That's all for my review, and next will be Aurion :D
