  2. Thanks for all that great info sherwin. my car only came with one set of keys as well.

and from toyota i was quoted around $160 for just to cut and program the key itself, no remote.

so i will do what you have done, no problems with the remote and key?

Remote works perfectly and arrived quite quickly from the Seller on Ebay.

The Key took about 1-2 weeks to arrive.

I will let you know on Monday Afternoon how the key goes.. it's getting programmed then.

Monday 1st March 2010.. hoping all goes to plan

  4. Hi Everyone,

I have made some progress here..

Now I have the Blank Key from EBAY.. (Genuine Toyota)

I have gotten it cut by a Locksmith (Cost me $27.50).

And I have it booked in to get Programmed by Motorama Toyota ($30)

So it will cost me $57.50 to Cut and Programme the Key, Whereas, Toyota wanted to charge $65+

  5. Hi Guys,

I have a corolla 05, and one of the remote has not been used for a while and the car no longer recognises it. I have lost the original piece of paper printout that came with the car and hoping someone on the forum would have the reprogramming code. I have tried looking in the forum and all over the web but all the code refers to remotes with LOCK & UNLOCK buttons. But I only have a remote with one button and it is a Toyota remote. It looks like the one on this ebay site.

    Ebay Aus

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Ice2007

I have the instructions in my thread..

  6. Bro, im just curiious...

isn't your car with a two button key? [mine is]

thts weird that ur car has a separate remote attached. maybe its aftermarket..

    or isit different for zze123 - zze122

    hmmm

    Different for sportivo keys

The plastic surround snapped on my key the other day, so i rang toyota and the guy reckons they only sell half the surround, otherwise its $300 for a new key, .....went on ebay, found a new case for $10.

    Gotta love ebay :D

Yeah, my car is different to that.. I saw the "All-In-One" keys on ebay and was wondering if I can get it changed over..

In the end, I decided best to keep it the same as standard.

I have a Seperate Single Button Remote and a Black Headed Toyota Key (Master Key I think).

    Regards,

    Sherwin

  7. Ok I have bought a new remote from EBAY..

Cost me $69.95 + $3 Shipping and took me literally 2 mins to complete the Remote Programming..

I am now waiting for my New Key to Arrive from Ebay and then I will be getting quotes from a few locksmiths, etc. to find out the cheapest way to get a Second Key Cut and Programmed.

  8. Are they readily removable without messing up the paintwork? Also, which part lights up??

If you look through here Linky that shows you what lights up.

My ones do not light up. They are just the stainless finish ones.

They are removable as they are stuck on with double side tape and it doesn't sit on the paintwork anyways so no worries with damaging paintwork.

Haha, no wonder I was looking at the pic thinking "how the hell does solid metal light up?".

Thanks for the link, I'd seen these on eBay but wasn't sure how good the quality was, as with many parts on eBay. Sounds like there are a few happy campers here though, so I may just take the plunge.

I have been considering getting them off ebay Also!.. just wasn't sure on what the finished product would be like.

After seeing all those pics, I think it would be a nice subtle mod.

  9. Hi All,

I am not sure if this has been covered or not.

I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla Ascent Hatch earlier this week (Private Sale)

And I only received 1 Key and Remote from the seller..

Now I was wondering, If I wanted to have a spare key...

Would I need to go to Toyota and Buy a Key and Remote from them and get them Programmed and Cut to suit?

Or can I buy a Blank off Ebay and get it done at a Locksmith, etc.

Been quoted. (Toyota Dealer - Motorama Toyota)

Approx. $60 for the Key Blank

Approx. $65 for the Key Blank to be Cut and Programmed

    Approx. $70 for Remote

Totalling Approx. $195 so I can have a Spare Set of Keys.

    Been quoted. (Mister Minit)

$160 for the Key Blank and Cutting and Programming

$ 80 for the Remote with Instructions to be programmed myself

Totalling approx. $240 so I can have a Spare Set of Keys.

  10. buy a new one

ask toyota to look up their history and get them to stamp it??

Would that be the same for someone who has bought a '05 Model which had no logbook / service manual.

It has the owner's manual, etc. just not the service manual.

Has 92xxxkms, do you think it is worthwhile getting a new one from Toyota and getting all the services marked from now on?

I doubt it has been logbooked serviced by the previous owner.

I was also thinking of bringing it into them and getting them to check it over to make sure everything is up to date.

  11. Welcome!

  12. Hi All,

I am new to these forums and actually have a JZS147 Toyota Aristo..

    I frequently am on Boostcruising.com, Skylinesaustralia.com, Nissansilvia.com, JZS147.com.

However, I have decided to 'branch' out as such and see what else was out there..

    Regards,

    Sherwin
