Yes the Clarion unit we have has own navigation chip, we added it when we purchased the unit ..I went to Monster Audio and they installed it perfectly..all wheel functions are use-able except has external mic for phone instead of the standard one in the car..as you said money isn't the issue I would recommend visiting a top quality audio store and seeing which unit fits your needs.

Thanks - I figured there are people who can advise and fit the unit to suit my needs. Incar audio in Burwood (melbourne) looks like a good place.

We installed a Clarion unit to our Presara and it has performed flawlessly..Lots on here have used other units also with success..I am sure you will find the unit you are after..But like most things you get what you pay for.

It also appears the Clarion has its own navigation system that requires its own maps . I definitely want one that can use google maps as its free and its the best.

  3. It appears the the three units I mentioned are considered cheap chinese junk according to these forums. I'm not so concerned about price. I just need something that is compatible with my car and that works well.

Im wondering what OS these units have. If its Android then I can go to the google play store and download any app? The Kenwood seems to be android compatible but Im not sure what that means. Basically what is vital is that I can use Google maps, music services such as spotify and pandora, am and fm radio (DAB+ would be good), bluetooth for multiple devices. Obviously it would need to automatically cut into the rear camera when put into reverse. Are these units basically fully functioning touch screen android tablets?

    Thanks

Do you have a link to an Aurion compatible clarion unit please?

  5. ATX and Prodigy are the only two variants that come with a Steel Wheel as a spare.

    ATX - Full Size Steel

    Touring - Full Size Alloy

    Prodigy - Full Size Steel

    SX6 - Full Size Alloy

    ZR6 - Full Size Alloy

    Presra - Full Size Alloy

Thanks. I take steel means black and alloy means silver. In which case i wasnt dudded. Thats good to know....

  6. Hi,

I have a 2010 aurion prodigy and I had to change a tyre for the first time yesterday. When I looked at the manual it said to remove the silver cap thingy with the bevelled thingy. That is what I have done with cars in the past. However with my aurion I couldnt remove the silver thingy as it seemed to be a permanent attachment to the whole tyre metal thing. My spare tyre however was black so its looks a bit funny compared to the others. Was I dudded with the spare tyre when I bought the car new in that they should have included a spare which had the same silver metal assembly as the other tyres? Or is it normal for the spare to be different to the four tyres?

    Thanks

  7. There were two procedures listed in the links. One said to press the off hook button on my steering wheel. I do not have an off hook button on my steering wheel. The other said to press the INFO button. I do not have the INFO button.

I take it then that you don't have the Navigation unit? Both Navigation units with Bluetooth have the INFO button on them. In that case, try what Adamsy has said.

Well I have the prodigy which doesnt come with the Nav unit. My Nav unit is called a Melways :-)

Ive tried what adamsy said and it still is no good. Looks like a warranty fix.

  8. Thanks. It appears that those links do suggest some fixes but they are not applicable to my model. They seem to be for a presara only or for an earlier aurion model.

Before coming to that conclusion, did you actually try to follow the instructions first?

  9. Greetings,

When I bought my 2010 Aurion prodigy, the sales person said "only needs a service every 15k - any other time is a waste of money". My mechanics however said that at least an oil change and basic checkup should be done between each 15k service. Who is right? Also, I once heard that with brand new cars they put in some special oil and that you MUST NOT change the oil until the first 15k service otherwise its bad for the car. Is this true?

    Thanks

  10. Greetings,

As this is my first automatic car Im not used to how the accelerator can control the automatic transmission. I recently entered a freeway and decided to see what would happen if I put my foot to the floor. Well it certainly was nothing like my previous 4 cyl manual camry. However, it seemed to go down a gear and rev up high. Does planting the foot change the gear down? Is there other ways in which accelerator action alters the gears?

    Thanks

  11. i've got the satnav unit, and its also got the ASL in it! like the guys said above, if its on (HIGH MED or LOW) the volume will increase as the speed increases. you can start to hear the difference above 60kmph, then at 80kmph, and above, IF your audio is turned up far enough. i find that a good volume to test it on is about 7 or 8 and as you increase speed you'll hear it increase in volume. i think the whole idea of it is so that if you got kids, grannies etc in the car and you pull up to a lights or something after coming from a high speed, you don't deafen them! if you don't however, just turn the ASL off.

    Thanks

So whats the difference between high, med and low?

  12. My new aurion prodigy is the first automatic Ive ever owned. So Im thinking then when its set to D and Im stopped at the lights, that there is some kind of friction happening which is not good and would wear out parts. In which case would it be better to put it into neutral when stopped at lights and then back into D when Im ready to go? Or have I misunderstood how the Auto works when your foot is on the brake and you are in D.

    Thanks

    David

  13. I had another look at the manual and it says the car is "ipod ready" and to connect the ipod via the usb. Obviously my ipod touch didnt work. As it happens I have another ipod which was the model before the ipod touch so I figured maybe the ipod touch software was to modern for the car. I connected the older ipod via the usb and it worked! I can use all the on board and steering wheel buttons to control and select songs direct from the ipod.
