  1. So I have lost my 1 set of car key due to break in - and I have now gotten a brand new OEM blank key re-keyed including the door barrel and ignition - so the missing key is redundant & of no use.

As the new replacement key is the non remote version ... does anyone know where can I get an after market remote to attach to my key - and if I can re-program the remote myself or do I need a locksmith?

    Thanks

  2. I see no point getting the 2WD Rav4. It's pretty much a Camry with a higher ride height. Either get the AWD version or don't get the Rav4 IMO

this rav4 will be a family car driven by missus and will not go off-road, and want to make use of the 3.9% financing while using the cash in the homeloan account :)

so does not want to spend in excess of $35k.

  3. hi all

seeking forummers' advice if the following quote for new 2011 rav4 2wd is reasonable?

    1. CV 2wd Auto with safety pack $34990 driveaway.

    or

    2. Altitude 2wd Auto (no safety pack) $35270 driveaway.

    appreciate any feedback ...

  4. I shall look at the manual on the Engine_hood_door pdf for assistance then

Actually, from what I recall (my laziness is preventing me from loading the manuals), I think the manual you are after is the Interior.pdf

Weird enough ... it is actually on Exterior pdf (EXTERIOR – FRONT DOOR BELT MOULDING) which reference to ED ... which is the Engine_hood_door pdf ...

    cheers :)

  5. Hi all

I opened up the door light cover but could not find the wiring connected to the bulb holder (initially thought the bulb has blown). So the wiring could be inside the door trim but I need guidance on how to remove the door trim.

tried searched 'door trim' but could not find anything on how to remove door trim :(

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Cheers

  6. $640? I would have shoved those fluids up there a$$.

I got the same quote from Melbourne city toyota. I almost told the guy to F off but I just said NO thanks and hung up straight away.

What the hell are they doing, pouring liquid gold into our cars? wtf.

Bad choice of words mate. Sigged now.

    Why?

Pretty sure my words 'choice' were fair. Almost $640for engine oil and brake fluid is highway robbery especially for a job that takes about one hour.

Lets say you did not supply your own fluids and they charged you $300, that is still $340 extra for fl00d. I really wonder what they're reason is.

I was quoted $380.00 for 60k service by Toyota dealer in Berwick.

  7. but dosent the presara come stnd with 17x7's and share the same body as the ATX?

damn, was wanting to get the adrenalins again when they wear out too! :(

Tyre placards (which dictate standard tyre size and load rating) are usually specific to each individual model.

yeah, looks like the only potenza tyre is the RE050A which has a 98 load rating.. *sigh* more cashola goneee

sorry Davo for bringing this tyre thingy ...

    I can't get the tyre & wheel 17" kappa deal ... so going for 18" kappa :)

  8. I am hoping to get the sport grill from Thai ... is this something that can be easily taken out and replaced? I presumed the grill comes in 1 size and fit ATX as well?

One size fits all pre-facelift. Be careful, it might be one size fits all but not all suit well. Choose wisely, the ATX doesn't look "sporty", it is a chunky family car.

You are right ... that's why I want to check if it fits first and then decide if really suitable to atx ... also considering the other one vip2.

so amazed looking at all the nice mod aurion ...

  9. I am really amazed with how the sports grill make the car looks ... most of you put this on a sportivo ... how will this look like on an ATX in burgundy colour ? :)

The sports grill ... do you need to colour coded it? or it is originally come in matt black?

  10. if you get that package, just be prepared to buy new tires... the 45 profile tyres wont work on the aurion...

215/55R17 is the most economical size to buy that will work... expect to pay approx 200ish per tyre (RE001 adrenalins)

215/55r18 for re001 comes with 94 load rating but aurion atx needs 95 ... from redbook specs, sportivo is 93 so it's ok for sportivo and not atx?

  11. Well I was nicely pointed to these kappas: http://www.nunawadingtoyota.com.au/generic-specials.php (click on the forth box). For the tyre and wheel package its only $880. Is this a good price as I have no clue when it comes to tyres except how to put air in them and to check tread.

It says its for Corrolla, but does that make a difference, is there any difference the Aurion kappas or the Corrolla kappas or did they just advertise these as corrolla for no reason?

since they are going to change it, will it be possible to sell my old wheels on ebay or should I keep them just in case?

also, I will these effect handling, fuel consumption. safety, legal issues etc (ie, make it worse)

Just wondering what size of tyre that fits this 17" x 7" kappa wheels for Aurion? Based on the tyre calculator the one comes in this package is 225/45R17 does not match the stock for aurion.

  12. Talking abt 60k servicing ... mine should be due soon as mine last done was May-09 @ 45k but now only did 55k, so I suppose I need to do the next servicing soon.

Just wondering if I bring 2x 5L of Castrol Edge Sport 5W30 to Toyota dealer - how much should I expect the dealer to lower the servicing cost, assuming the servicing cost $320.00

    Cheers

  13. sorry vick, cant help you with the clearing of the sportivo holes.. but using sikaflex and some silicone sealant around the edges of the spoiler along with the double sided tape seem to give a pretty solid hold...

BlueBird - heres a photo for you... colour coding can be done from $100.00 here in perth..

thanks. I searched the forum and most pple here got the duck tail from Thai ... theirs is camry ... does it fit exactly the Aussie aurion - I believe it shd be, right.

Do u guys just use double sided tape ... sturdy enough? No other glue ... ?

  14. Also I am interested in getting a alloy rims from SX6 ... which is 17" ... what tyre is recommended?

It's dependent on how you plan to drive, the conditions you will come across, your budget, whether you prefer comfort or handling with the willingness to sacrifice one or the other, etc.

    hi djkor

this is a family car and weekdays only drive like 20km per day, and more during weekend. I would prefer comfort as I tend to drive slow and within limit

budget ... value for money :)

    Cheers
