Your given 10 years/240,000kms to make a claim. What more do you want?

Not really . I took my car in for service at 3 years old and mentioned that the dash was getting sticky . I was told that It was just me . At 5 years it had begun to turn to chewing gum and still it was just me . At 8 years it was literally starting to run and they had finally admitted that there was a problem . So really there was a ~2yr window where they were offering to rectify the problem before the 10 year limitation . Then they offer a solution but never notify anyone of it , I received all of the recall notices . The only way I found out about it was through these forums .

I think 10 years is fair but I think the dealers should of notified their customers rather than banking on most customers being unaware especially after denying the problem existed for so long .

Their could be an issue with the new transmissions looming here like the pathetic sticky dash issue of the 40 and camry variants.

Mechanics are told what to say, so If I were you ,  take it up with management and make them sweat.

Let us know how you get on .

This is so true . I waas told on 3 occasions when I was at the dealership that my rapidly melting dash was the only one of it's kind and was due to something I had done to it . Turns out they were selling the same cool-aid across the country .

  3. Finally got my Dash replaced by Morley Galleria Toyota . Dropped the car off about 3 weeks ago at 8am and they rang at 12:30 to let me know they didn't have the dash , "we'll give you a call when we have it ". Took it in yesterday and they replaced the dash . Only thing is now my aircon and stereo are not working and are saying that they were not working to start with . The stereo is constantly on even when the keys are out so I'd have to disconnect the battery every night which I did do last night so I could take it in today . So very ****** off , but I guess it's their word against mine .

I posted this on the Sticky Dashboard facebook page as well . I rang head office at 2pm WA time but apparently Toyota are closed so I'll try again tomorrow .

The cars nearly 10 years old and the radio is probably nearly 8 as It's a chinese DVD/NAV computer that i installed myself . I realise **** happens but having the guy stand n front of me and accuse me of being some sort of scam artist because my radio was non functioning when I took it in really steams me . The Aircon already had a problem where it wouldn't turn off except if the fan was turned off but it worked fine otherwise . In fact it was still working when I left the dealership yesterday . It stopped working after I disconnected the battery because the radio screen would not go off , and now it's as dead as a doornail . The fan comes on but no cooling . Maybe that's not their fault as it was still working when I left the dealership , I can take that one on the chin despite being a huge coincidence .

I'll take a sticky dash over no aircon or radio anyday .

  4. What have you guys been cleaning your dash with? I've seen Aurion's that have been parked in the QLD sun nearly every day for the last 4 years without a single issue. I would be suspecting the care that has been put into them if they are deteriorating.

Maybe the newer Aurions had the dash material changed . A bit like they changed a few of the oil pipes when they realised they were dud .

I've seen the same problem mentioned on other forums with 2007 camrys as well .

I've used the same armourall (probably about 3 times) on my wife's 11 year old car which we have had since new and that's still fine .

My dash is like chewy gum on a hot day and you can stick your finger right into it which means the armourall I've put on it has soaked in a very very long way .

  5. Same here . 2007 model and the dash began to get sticky in about 2012 . So it took 5 years . The car has never been garaged and I live in Perth , So it's had a lot of sun . I actually had a dashmat for a while but it had a great big hole over the airbag which made it an utter waste of time . For a car made for Australian conditions it seems like a manufacturing fault to me .

I will not be buying another Toyota .

  6. Switch is dead ?

Goto wreckers obtain the matching panel for your model and try it out, might work or find someone to borrow from as a test :)

Both the recirc and aircon don't work so it's not just a switch . It's possibly the board that they are on , but every other switch on that board works such as the demister and fan speed . i think I'll give that a go though as I've got nothing else and it's an easy swap .

  7. My 07 Aurion Aircon is not working . My mates an Auto eclectrician and had a look today for the second time but this time with his techstream setup .

Weird thing is he can turn the aircon on with the laptop and it works fine , light comes on nice and cool . But will not work using the switch . The recirc switch can be operated via techstream as well but once again can not be turned on via the switch .

Any one have any ideas ?

  8. Had my Auto electrician mate come over today and spend about 3 hours trying to work out why my aircon isn't working to no avail .

It's a 2007 poverty pack with the bog standard manual aircon . When I hit the aircon button the light doesn't come on nor does the recirculation light come on when I hit that . The heater , fan and mode switches all work fine . Any ideas before I take it into Toyota ?

The compressor seemed to switch on when he manually activated it and there is a good amount of gas in it apparently .

  9. I get around 10L/100km in stop start traffic/ city driving and i get about 8L/100km on the motorway, doin bout 120 km/h. I also tow a trailer which is about 750 kilo's and i average 12-13 L/100km's which i am very pleased about. Aurion is very economical compare to a holden or ford :toast:

What the hell am I doing wrong ? I get 14L/100km . Car has done 120K . Just had the fuel injectors cleaned and the tyre pressure is always correct . Car is seviced every 7500km . The best ever consumption I've ever got was 9L/100km on a long country drive sitting on 120 which is within 15% of you but my stop start everyday city driving is 40% thirstier . 14L/100km was what I used to get with my AU station wagon that had 150k on it by the time I sold it .

  10. Awesome thanks .

Also checked my vvti oil hose the other day the other day after reading your comments/pics in that thread .

Checked it and it had started to leak oil from the top and had started to perish . So thanks for that too :)

That was done at a different service center and was far more professional and was I very impressed with their service so maybe I just went to an epic fail center today .

  11. Went in to get the transmission flush today . Dropped the car off , pulled into the pub carpark (mate followed me down) and the mobile rings .

Service guy : Just calling to let you know that your transmission is a sealed for life unit and doesn't need to be flushed ... We can do it but it takes 20L of really expensive oil .

Me : No worries I'll have a beer and come pick it up .

WTF , I rang 3 service centers and wasn't told this . Obviously it was never going to get done for $210 . And 20L seems highly unlikely for a transmission .

Very last time I ever use a dumbass Toyota service center ever . These are the people that are supposed to know what they are doing ?

They charge top dollar and apparently don't have a clue . This isn't some on , off , on again hard to diagnose problem . It's an oil change FFS .

Waste of half a day .

EDIT : I'll buy the oil and do it myself . At least that way I'll know it's getting the correct oil . Any tips ?

  12. I was using Fuch's until Supercheap stopped stocking it . I grabbed some Shell Helix HX7 and have to say I'm not impressed . I changed it the other day after 60000km and was very surprised to see just how black it had become . I reckon this helix would look like bitumen after 15000km . I'll be having a good look for fuch's for my next oil change as that used to come out looking a lot lot better .

  13. I'm sure they do have a stack of issues . My previous car had a Sony bluetooth headunit that I installed that was really hit and miss with my Nokia . I Installed 2 other units to family cars and they also had issues with nokia's . Solution was to get rid of the nokia's . To be fair they worked 90% of the time but thats not nearly good enough .

My cheap chinese Aurion HU and HTC phone work perfectly together everytime .
