  1. haha thats crazy, I'm surprised I haven't seen you around the area more!!

awesome work!....where bouts in syd are you from? maybe meet up sometime...

Cheers, I'm south of Sydney near Blakehurst, South Hurstville, Connells Point way, just before you go over Tom Uglys Bridge. A meet sounds like a great idea, it would be good to get some opinions. rolleyes.gif

I'm thinking about getting side skirts from pezzie, what do you guys reckon? Genuine Toyota's and get them colour coded, I just don't want to look like i'm trying to pull off a Levin when its only an Accent. dry.gif

no way! im not that far away from you :) im up at rockdale

  3. Cheers guys for your comments.

Peter I agree with you too, the rear is sitting a bit high. On 15 inch stockies I was scraping everywhere. But now with my new rims and tyres it is much better. I've only got Lovell normal springs all round, super lows would be great. But at the moment it will have to wait. I just don't want to be scraping everywhere, shopping centre speed humps are terrible!

All the credit for the footlights goes to you Pete, followed your DIY and worked out an treat, it its such a cheap mod, that looks great!

Few more pics possibly coming this week. :whistling:

  4. Hey everyone! Finally managed to get my Kappa's put on, got these from Pezzie, Thanks heaps! Wrapped in Pirelli P7 they were on special and payed cash so managed to get 5 for 900 which is an amazing price considering these go for around the $400 mark each!

Also my TRD muffler finally arrived sounds great, nice and subtle, heck even got a compliment from a copper that said it was good better than all those hoons with canon exhausts! No offense to anyone that has a canon exhaust. rolleyes.gif

  5. G'day Mate

I don't have an Aurion but I do have a Corolla, if your not looking to spend to much money, then I would suggest simple stainless CAT back exaust system, ie from the Catalytic converter, you can get these custom made or there are lots of generic ones out there to suit your model. Further more a cold air intake would further enhance the sound of your car throughout all RPM. All of these can be done relatively cheaply as well. Please don't get a cannon exhaust which I don't think you will, they do however always manage to ruin any car they are on. I would suggest taking it to a muffler shop, there are heaps around, tell them what you want and your budget and they should be able to set you up.

  6. Hey Pete

Those SMD's look really good, I noticed that your've done one for the dome light also. I'm looking at changing mine over as well, is the dome light just a matter of popping off the cover? Or is there more to it?

    Cheers

    Chris

Had an hour spare the other night, knocked up a new Flux Boot space light. No more pooh off white, nice and crisp now.

    SMDboot1.jpg

10x 0.5W 6000k white flux with 37mm festoon plug in.

    SMDboot2.jpg

Fits neatly into the OEM housing.

    SMDboot3.jpg

5 Watts of crisp clean white goodness.

    :D

  7. Now if only someone could make a DIY guide with pictures on how to connect the LEDs with the above method. I've checked but can't find one.

    Oh well.

Thanks for the info guys. :-)

Someone with an Aurion please correct me if i am wrong, but i presume it would be similar to 2008-2010 Corolla wiring behind the dash. Dutie's DIY, perhaps you can use that and modify for your Aurion but i presume it would be very similar.

    Cheers

  8. I feel that this is a stupid question, but I recently purchased the offical footwell LEDs from Toyota (discount as I know someone on the inside), and was hoping to install them soon.

I'd like the fade out effect but I have set my interior cabin light to 'off' by default as I prefer the privacy at night when opening the doors.

Is there any way to get the fade effect with the footwell lights while still having the central cabin light not light up?

In my opinion yes, the switch on the dome light is only for the light itself, there would still be current in the circuit, all the swtich does is complete this. Simple way to check though is to take off your glove box and test using a mulitmetre behind there, well thats what i did for my Corolla, I don't see why they shouldn't work.

  9. I also found some on MotorActive.com which was through Meqguires Australia $59.00 including postage within australia, i think thats pretty reasonable??

    Heya detail buffs

Where is the best place to get a G220? Looking at getting one but no one seems to have stock? any recommendations on good stores for pads etc?

    HeeeeellllPP!

I purchased mine direct from Meguiars Australia. They are also available through ZAS Car Detailing Products. Not sure what stock is like for either of them.

Pads can be purchased through ZAS as well, but with the high AUD at the moment you could try Proper Auto Care in the US. I bought a number of products from them last year and it worked out much cheaper than getting it locally. Auto Detailing Solutions is the cheapest US site I was able to find but they don't ship internationally. I was able to negotiate with Proper Auto Care did match some of Auto Detailing Solutions prices and offered a partial discount on others.

  10. I have a 2009 corolla ascent, and want a bit more power and a bit of a decent note from the exhaust, can any one reccomend a cai and exhaust system to give me this for a reasonable price?

Hey buddy, I have a 2008 Acent hatch. I just installed my Injen CAI cost me around 350 inlcuding shipping from the US. Sounds amazing! and adds a few kw! However if your from Brisbane check out CES they are willing to do a custom job for the ZRE for about 450 i think. Up to you really.

As for the exhaust i'm still waiting for my genuine TRD high response muffler. Which should hopefully be in this week. Heard they're good. Maybe CES would do you a deal if you got new headers and full stainless setup spiteful.gif

    Just my 2 cents!

    Cheers

    Chris

  11. I think this will be used for evil instead of good...cut someone off or do something wrong on the roads and it could turn ugly very quickly.

    interesting concept but.

In Sydney its illegal to text and drive, so isn't this an accident waiting to happen? How havn't the police or the RTA stepped in on this one? blink.gif

  12. just thought i'd update this thread.

i recently put in a 3A racing pod filter as per the pdf file i've read posted here on the forums somewhere on it's strong points on filtration and ability to literally suck more as compared to others (and by comparison of pods, it includes injen as well).

ever since i installed the 3A racing pod, without resetting the ecu at all, the check engine light dissapeared and hasn't come back for a few days now.

i think it was because the injen pod has oil in or on it which the maf sensor picks up as a contaminant and throws the CEL? whereas the 3A racing pod is a dry type filter..

i could be wrong and the CEL may come up but i got a good feeling it may be the pod...

    any comments welcome.

    cheers,

    tom

    Nice TOM!

I installed my injen cai last week, no engine light, although, my injen filter was dry and also got the hydro shield for. How did u go with the bottom bracket? I had to make up my own out of aluminum sheeting.

  13. Hey buddy, check out Kenneths DIY foglight install. The the relay does go in behind the air conditioning, pretty sure the part that you pulled out. However if you want yo use the switch provided in the kit, then you may need an auto-electrician. ONly becuase you need to splice off a 12 volt source. It gets messy! Can i suggest that you get an OEM stalk with the foglight switch i got mine for $115 shop arround for the best prices including other states. This is much easier, just plug and play. Again check out Kenneth's DIY guide its very helpful. If you have any problems send me a pvt messege I'll see what i can do.

    Cheers

    Chris

LOL!!! ITS NOT MESSY AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! U DONT SPLICE N E THIN!!!

Thanks for the clarification mate, umm did you get your mate to help you out? I'm unsure of the push button mod as i did the stalk.

  15. still waiting on the TRD muffler justchris? damnnn... stupid toyota!

this is all good and everything.. just needs to be redirected to the members rides thread

Yeh i contacted Toyota last week, they said the muffler had been lost in transit mad.gif And would be no more than 2 weeks, well its two weeks next week. I wonder whether they will give me a discount? Hehe maybe 100% i wish!!whistling.gif

Can anyone help me on how to put it into the Members Rides section?

  16. Looking good mate! Nice list of mods and future mods! :D

You should meet up with the NSW'ers, they usually have meets often. Although it could be a bad thing (see their mods) or a good thing (they can give you advice/help) Hahaha. :toast:

    Peter.

Haha i know Peter some of them have deep pockets! I would do so much more if i had $$$$$. Your ride is looking sweet too, sooo low, how do you get it in and out of any driveways! haha.

Cheers for the heads up I'll have to go along to one of the meets.

    Chris

  17. Nice ride with good starting point for Future Mods.

I like the idea of having the headlight protectors and bonnet protector but i used to cut myself everytime i washed the car . Now i take them off if the car if fitted with them when buying it.

Haha i know what you mean, i'm always cutting myself too when ever i wash the car! and not to mention the number plate protectors there just as bad!

So far so good with the Injen Cai no engine light as of yet and I've already done about 250km with it on. It sounds a beast! Almost WRX like. spiteful.gif

  18. anyone know where to find some decent headlights as well?

the white led t10 parkers are easy enough to find...but what have people used for headlights?

also..just order in the fog lights through toyota??

Hey mate get ur fog lights from mars Performance (just google them), 180 including shipping from memory, they come with the white bulbs, there are some on ebay which include the black plastic shroud but i'm unsure of the quality. The Mars performance ones are for a sedan but screw directly into the black plastic, maybe get those from Toyota i followed Kenneth's DIY with the stalk, looks much more professional.

I'm currently using Phillips crystal clear 4300k, wont get pulled over by the coppers and look great! they'l match the fog lights from Mars, check out my page to have a look.

    Chris

  19. you're zre is looking nice :D i remember when i had foglights and hub caps on, looked kinda cool. also, where abouts did you get your crystal clear phillips lights from? autobarn charges ridiculuos prices, i think they wanted 160 the last time i asked them.

Not too sure, got them off a mate at mates rates, i believe he got them from www. marsperformance.com if the link doesn't work just google them. They're pretty good.

  21. I'm going for the RTA's HPT test thing tomorrow to progress to a P2/Greens. How hard is this test exactly? Been reading through the manual and it all makes sense to me but uh... heard these things were time based and if you didn't touch the screen within a millisecond you'd be screwed?

Hey dude, you'l be fine!! This test is dead easy!. Make sure you do the practice questions until you get them all right, it will put you in the right sense of mind to easily do the real test. Quick tip from memory is when slowing down tap the screen well before you would actually brake in real life. For example if you see a yellow advisory sign, as soon as you are able to distinguish it, slow down if necessary. Hope it helps! Let us know how you go!
