  1. I work for a Holden dealer and use ACDelco aftermarket parts on my Aurion, have had no trouble at all with quality.

Only thing i use genuine is wiper inserts, spark plugs and brake fluid.

Prices as per below for ACDelco parts, all $RRP, (prices vary though dealer to dealer)

    Oil Filter $14.95

    Air Filter $33.55

    Cabin Filter $19.05

Dexos1 Oil $51.70 5L (5W-30 Full Synthetic Long Life oil)

DexCool long life coolant 5L $49.50 (Concentrate)

  2. Car advice website quotes the following,

"The new Aurion’s 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine produces 204kW of power and 346Nm of torque – up 4kW/10Nm from 200kW and 336Nm. The six-speed automatic transmission from the current model carries over into the 2012 model.

According to the data for the Ukrainian-spec model, the new Aurion’s combined cycle fuel consumption is 9.3 litres/100km. In Australia, the outgoing model is rated at 9.9 litres/100km, suggesting efficiency gains of around six per cent. A 50kg reduction in total vehicle weight – down from 1590kg to 1540kg – is likely to be one of the major fuel-saving factors"

  3. Well my car runs out of warranty today. Have just ticked over 50k. Thought i would list what was fixed under warranty.

    vvti hose

    Dash clips replaced

    Centre air vent replaced

    idler pulley replaced

    Transmission rebuilt

    Steering wheel replaced (leather lifting)

    Headlights replaced (lense yellowing)

    intermediate shaft

    Both front struts (knocking)

Hopefully thats it cause im tired of catching the bus to work. haha. But all in all was a pleasant experience with the Toyota dealer down here.

  4. Mines warranty so no cost to me, 10000k sounds expensive, adamsy last time i checked i think they were listed around 6k, can you confirm? (Ahhh, didnt read about the torque converter as well.)

I think mine was a dud from the factory. Only had 20000km when i got the car, has 45000km now.

Scoota when i was working in darwin I quoted a transmission for a taxi driver with an aurion, i think he had 250000km. He reckons the camrys last much longer as a taxi. 90% of the cabs are camrys up there.

  5. Yeah, Co-op, they have been really good. Mine already had the updated ecu and the top up fixed the 2-3 flaring issue. But have always had very clunky shifts and the reason for rebuilding has been major slipping when cold. So I am glad to be having it fixed with 3 months warranty left.

Toyota decided they would like to fix instead of replacing which is fine by me, it has to be shipped to Lane Toyota which has a backlog of work at the moment.

  6. Old thread but I thought it was relevant.

Since I got my 2008 zr6 6 months ago have had problems with the transmission. Has anyone else had problems with the trannie slipping in first gear, only happens when cold? Also feels like it takes off in second gear as if i try and accelerate I get kickdown into first.

Has been to toyota and they have kept it for 3 cold starts but of course the fault didnt happen. Now I have the workshop foreman coming round every morning to try and replicate the fault. Fingers crossed it plays up.

  7. Too true. They can be repaired. I have spent the last 6 months repairing them and they still keep appearing. Now the rear vision mirror rattles and the sun roof rattles.

Am going to buy the Subaru Sports Wagon

Thats strange nobody else with the update model has ever complained about the rattles and sqeaks thats seem to inflict a good percentage of the "series one" cars. and first i've heard abouts sqeaks coming from the auto tilting mirror??

My upgrade ZR6 has many rattles and squeeks, something I'm quickly tiring of

The most dis-satisfying aspect of the entire car is the interior trim, plastic bits in particular, really cheapens the car unfortunately.

Although my rear vision mirror doesn't make any noise, it's as loose, so on a heavily textured surface, it's almost impossible to see anything behind you through the vibration.

My main noises seem to be:

    - Plastic trim around the gear selector, squeeks like a MF !

    - The lid of the centre console vibrates, need to drive with one arm constantly on it to shut it the hell up.

    - The silver plastic trip (woodgrain in the Prodigy) just above the glovebox, squeeks on and off.

    - Drivers grab handle next to my head, rattles on and off.

    - Something in the passanger rear door rattles, not sure about the source of this one.

Going top mention something next service, but would prefer the noises as opposed to someone ripping the contents of the car apart.

I think Toyota had a bulletin out regarding squeaking from the gear lever, I would take it to the dealer to get fixed. As for the centre console lid, I had the same problem. Ended up taking both latches off and found the tension springs were rattling. Just forced some carboard underneath each spring. Seems to have fixed the problem.

I have had many problems with my 2008 zr6. Had the dash clips replaced, intermediate shaft replaced, both drive shafts replaced. The car has been to toyota about 5 times regarding dodgey transmission. Now have a problem with tranny slipping when cold which dealer is trying to identify.

  8. I started to have the knocking problem a few months ago and had no idea why.

After reading this post last week, I decided to call Toyota and see what they think. Basically, I told the guy about the knocking and also told him what I read about the intermediate shaft on here. Then, he just booked me in to have it fixed today. Just got a call and was told the shaft has been replaced under warranty. Hopefully it will fix the problem!

Its great that you got this fixed.

I would suggest to people on here that you try not to mention anything about "forums" or "read on the internet" to your service advisor. For some dealers it can be a dirty word.

    Just trying to help out....

  9. Hey guys,

Does anyone else have a noticable engine whine in their aurion? Happens at all engines speeds. Not sure if it is normal or not. I also have a slight drivetrain vibration under moderate acceleration.

Car has only done 22000km, took it in to dealer and they replaced idler bearing to fix the whine but has not made a difference. There is only one dealer in this town and after my two visits I have not been impressed....

  10. Toyota has a service bulletin out on flaring, rough downshifts for the aurion. Only applies to certain manufacture dates. There are a couple of fixes I think, one includes adding extra oil, the other is a transmission ecu swap or reprogram.

  11. I pickup my 2008 Aurion ZR6 on Monday. Yay!!

This is my first ever Toyota, thanks to the friendly people on this forum for their knowledge.

Oh and I also work for a Toyota parts department, so I will try and help for any hairy questions regarding parts and availability.

    Matt
