  1. Hi,

I have a Kluger on order and will be installing a baby and child seat in it. It has leather seats and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a way to protect the leather from any damage (scratches, tears, stretches etc). I assume there are many in this forum that use a Kluger with children.

Baby seats sometimes come with a thin blanket or cloth sort of thing that you put under the baby seat as a bit of a barrier between it and the car seat. But it's too thin to really do any good and there are still indentations in my current car (with cloth seats) and the seat foam where the safety belts attach hasn't bounced back. I'm really concerned this will happen (and possibly even worse) with leather seats.

Thanks for any tips or lessons learned people would like to share.

    EDIT:

I guess something like this is what I'm after, but I'm not sure if they're available over here?

    Seat Protector

    EDIT 2:

Turns out they are in Aus:

    Urban Baby

    Ivory Stork

We've got two car seats fitted and were also concerned about them damaging the leather as they will be on for a few more years.

The best solution we found was to find a bath mat that matched the colour of the leather and put underneath.

Not only are they thick enough to offer some protection, the rubber backing means they don't slip.

We eventually found one that is the exact colour as the leather - almost look like they came with the car and you can hardly notice them.

  2. On the subject, why aren't side steps available yet ? Are they also different from the old face ?

    Thanks in advance..

I didn't know they weren't available yet? I ordered them for mine, but it's only due in late December so the dealer didn't say anything to me about it?

I picked up my new Kluger Grande last week and it has side steps.

Got mine too. Pretty sure they are unchanged unlike the nudge bar.

  3. Hi Guys,

I was at the motor show in Sydney today, and checked out the new Kluger. Does everyone really like the way how the exterior bottom trims of the vehicle look? The display one was black and i really think the matt plastic below the chrome strips look crap. It wasn’t even clipped on flush, and this was at the motor show! Just throwing it out there as I was really disappointed, I was going to sell my Kluger and purchase the facelift one but after seeing it....... the old model looks much better!

Can't really notice with the side steps. Interesting that they showed it in black...I would have some concerns over the new chrome strips at the bottom of the doors with some other colours.

  4. A couple of things:

    1. PhilG - can't wait to see the pics of the nudge bar (have ordered it too but like to know what it looks like - so post away)

    2. Question, I saw the new Toyota Highlander with beige interior actually has dark carpet on the flooring (looks good)...is that something the new Kluger will get or is Australia continuing with the old beige flooring from previous models?

    Someone please let me know!

Will try and post some tomorrow. Not sure what you mean about the carpet...hopefully some photos will help.

The nudge bar is a BIG improvement. Was having second thoughts....

  5. Thought someone should start a thread about the recall of some Klugers announced today...

So do you have anymore info like links etc?

Recalling 2011 Kluger......bit early one would think lol

Good call -I'm a year ahead of myself!

  6. Loving my Grande. Glad I waited, the new styling looks great IMO.

Struggling a bit with finding my way around the technology and I'm a geek!

The ride is fantasic - the AWD was worth the extra and the nudge bar is a big improvement on the old design.

Will try and post some photos on the weekend.

Very happy and great service from Greg at Bill Buckle in Brookvale.

  7. It looks like someone at Toyota has noticed the Lexus logo on the nudge bar...there is now no nudgebar for the Kluger on the website. Well done on grabing those images when you did Scud!

Can anyone confirm if the nudge bard has been 'facelifted' or was this just a mistake on teh website?

Today is the day that my car is due to arive at the dealer...fingers crossed.

    G'luck Phil.

Mine was supposed to be there yesterday. Pick up Monday. I'll be calling the stock controller this morning as the tracking system shows it as not being delivered to the dealer yet.

:( looks like it will be sometime early next week for me too - subject to the availability of the nudge bar and side steps. Should have by my wife's birthday next year at this rate...

Tow bar and parking sensors go on today.

No car for me this weekend :-(

    Looking like Wednesday

  10. The pick up date is calculated as 5 days after the true dealer estimated arrival date. It's not based on anything else really, just to make the customer happy. So theoretically if it is being prepared for transport, it will arrive at the dealership within the next 24 hours and you should be in the car soon depending on what accessories you want!

Except it's been in this status since I could see it in the tracking system from the 7th, and the initial date was the 20th. The dealership told me it'd take three days to prep (towbar etc) once they got it and I could have it Monday. If it's still with Patricks (or whoever does it nowdays) then it'd better get to the dealer no later than tomorrow morning otherwise I'm going to be an unhappy camper.

What annoys me more is that I ordered back at the start of July which I would have thought would be early enough to get one of the first vehicles, yet I see your dealership has already got vehicles. I know it's only a few days, but have I mentioned I'm impatient? :)

I agree - ordered min in June. You wouldn't think it was that hard to send the purchased vehicles out first.

BTW - what are people's thoughts on the facelifted nudge bar?? Shows off the new look front end better but would not be of much use on anything bigger than a large cat!

  11. I would like to thank all the contributors to this thread - I owe you all a beer!

Went to my local Toyota dealer on the weekend to buy a AWD Grande for my wife as a birthday present for delivery in Sept. Never thought to ask if there was a facelift in the pipeline and got my name put down for what would have been the very last Grande AWD in black with tan leather in the current look.

I can't tell you how p*$$ed off I would have been to pay 70k for an end on line model.

By chance I found this thread and called the dealer to change my order. So now I am waiting to have one of the first face-lifted Klugers in Sept.

    Thanks again!

Did you get your facelift Kluger delivered? What are the changes? How much did you pay for it? I am on the waiting and my dealer says end of October....

Still waiting...looks like it should arrive on the 14th and will be able to pick it up on Sat. See Scud's post for the definitive list of features. Pricing looks like it may have dropped but only buy a few hundred bucks.

  12. I've just been told that the Grande is $400 cheaper, and other models are more expensive...this is good news!

Still traying to find a dealer with black/biege in their new stock so i don't have to wait for factory order...

From what I can gather, the black/beige combination is not available on the facelift Kluger.

I hope your wrong Scud, that's what is on my order and there hasn't been any word that it isn't available.

Good luck with your hunting Glen. Ordered my Grande black/beige in June....still got to wait until next weekend.

Cheers for the pm Scud... Much appreciated.

  14. Just been told that my car isn't scheduled to be delivered to the dealer until the 14th Oct!!

I've offered to go to Port K. and pick it up myself!!!!

Dealer is on the case to get it sooner but I'm not holding my breath....

  15. Sorry, my post must have sounded like I wasn't certain.

It is most definitely being released 8th october.

    Cheers

Cheers Scud, the email my dealer fwd from Toyota Australia said the 7th (he was trying to get the vehicle earlier as it was already sold and was a birthday present).

Looks like it will be next week then... :(

  16. The waiting is killing me! Dealer expected to take delivery today and get it to me for the weekend. If they are just starting to ship today as Pugsly's research suggests that's just not going to happen.

Have called the dealer but still waiting for any news...

  17. Hi Guys,

I've gone for black with biege leather, got anudge bar and side steps thrown in for free. Dealer says that car should be with them for the 7th, so with any luck may have it by the 8th.

I ordered in June and was hoping to have it in time for my Wife's birthday. Will miss this by a few days but should still be a great surprise and keep me in the good books for a while!

I don't normally go for the dealer rip-off up-sells but they offered me a service that gives unlimited touch-ups (including alloys) for a fixed price of $50 per call out for the first three years for an up front fee of $300. It's with one of those mobile services like Dent Dr, seems like a good way to get rid of all the shopping trolley dings...

Out of interest what is the new car costing you all up?

Rounded it down to an even 70,000 OTR. with business reg and a load of extras. That price was based on the previous model and they have honoured for the face-lift model.
