  2. Just two days ago when the engin eis warmed up i smell a sort of burnt smell coming from the engine, especially in the right wheel area. It doesn't smell like oil, but more like electrical burning. to confirm this i checked for any oil leaks, but there's none. It's starting to worry me now. Any suggestions on what it may be?

Is ya neighbour missing it's cat.:spiteful:

  3. Parked at the shops the other day and did a double take as i walked past a black ATX with a fake bonnet scoop ... WTF . You could even see where the thing was glued onto the bonnet . It didnt even have an opening, just some white sticker lines on the front scoop area to make it look like it had some mesh in it lol . Had some bling chrome looking hubcaps on the standard steel wheels as well. Seriously if this trend continues im going to sell my car :)

What trend is that ? I plan on putting a ve wilkinshaw scoop on the trd . (edit) Do you mean crap installation. The fact that it does nothing functional (besides looks) or is it the fact that some people have no idea when it comes tastefull/personal choice mods. I can relate to the above mentioned car however, it would give you that WTF feeling. Hopefully cases like this are isolated and not a trend.

  4. Haha if only it was that easy.... Now I'm used to them , I don't mind them so much 

Yep!!!!!! I was just talkin tough.. If my misses seen me write that i know who be gettin the pimp hand  Just personal opinion on the stripes. YOU like em is what counts. Cheers

  5. I figure this is as good a place to ask as any...

My car is registered in Victoria, and now that I've moved to South Australia, I need to get the car registered over here.

It broke down on the way to Melbourne to pick up some of my things almost a fortnight ago. I had to get back home before it was fixed (turns out it was the hall effect sensor in the dizzy that died, thus no signal to the ECU that the dizzy was turning, thus no fuel or spark), so once the car was fixed, it went back to where I used to live and share with a friend, and I won't be able to pick it up financially until next month.

Problem is, the Victorian rego expires on this sunday.

I enquired with the local SA transport people here, and they said that all I had to do was fill out the forms they gave me, pay the money and they'd give me new SA plates to put on the car and it would be registered here. I thought, perfect, wait until I've got the money, go in with the paperwork, pay for my new plates, throw them in my backpack, head back to Melbourne, put them on the car (so it's registered again) and drive it back home. However, I've been told by my partners mum (who works for toyota here in town) that they'll need to inspect the vehicle before they issue new plates for it. In which case I'd have to pay the vic rego just to get it back here.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Just pay the rego in Vic. Drive around SA till rego nearly out again. Pretty sure you will need an inspection to change states.

  6. Just got the pedders coilovers looks and driving and handling even better, how do I add photo to show.yous how trd aurion looks droped plus got guards and quarter panels.lipped at 60 bucks a side other ways is 400 dollers aside to.flare it up.

Check the HELP FILES section. Will show you how. Or type photos into search box.Very keen to see it

  7. I press the START/STOP button and the engine doesn't start..... it does 1 crank and then makes multiple ticking noises. I have called NRMA to check it out, i think the battery might be gone or the terminals might need cleaning ? Could it be something worse ?

Nah. It will be what you said. Mine did that the other day from stereo on to long. Just a jump start or crap connection on battery. This is common in winter for a weak battery to die.

  8. Does anyone know what the charging rate should be? mine is charging at 13.5 volts. and im led to believe that the alternator is controlled by the ECU. if so could there be a problem with the ECU? or would it throw a code if it was that?

Hey Scoot. 13.5 is ok. The alternator is equiped with a regulator internally. Will vary slightly depending on how much electrical equipment is drawing off the battery. If it the charge rate is too high or to low the ecu will detect a fault. What is the actual problem you are having. More info needed to be accurate.

  9. Hi all, I've been a long time reader and have decided to register now that I'll be buying a Sportivo in the near future.

Excuse me if this has been posted before, but I'll be (HOPEFULLY) upgrading from my 1993 BMW 318i to a 2005 Sportivo and was wondering a few things, any help is appreciated.

What should I look for when buying? My list is as follows:

    - Motor.

    - Exterior.

    - Interior.

    - Check all doors close properly.

    - Check all windows work properly.

    - Check all speakers and head-unit work properly.

    - Check AC unit works and heats/cools accordingly.

    - I have read before that the Stivo's have had gearbox problems in the past and that the engine was not actually producing 141kW's and for these reasons they have been called back - do the 05's have this problem? (the facelift ones I believe). If it has then it should have a sticker indicating that it's been taken back for the recall, yes? If so, where can I find this sticker?

    - Are there any other problems that the Stivo's had that required callbacks that I am unaware of?

    - What is a good price for stock Stivo's, for the following KM's?

    - 80K

    - 100K

    - 120K

    - 150K+

    - Is there a free REVS check website of the likes? I had one before but I've seemed to have lost it!

Again I am terribly sorry if this has been posted elsewhere or if this is in the wrong section, and again, any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    -Gee

Mate you need to get on to the car sales sites and check out models & options within your price range. Most aurions arn't your typical

bogan race car so you shouldnt have to much trouble finding a decent ride. As for major problems i dont think that there is anything to worry about. Anything that can go wrong with one will be on this site. Check the FAQ section. End of the day search for lowest kms and features/colour you would like. Good luck

OK i just realized ya not talking about Aurion . Either way the advice is still the same.

  10. okay new problem, engine aint cranking. just a really fast clicking noise..

Battery is failing..Or the terminals & Clamps on top of your battery need cleaning. Also check your leads to starter and earth(car body) for loose or crappy connection. The clicking noise is your starter trying to crank the engine but doesnt have enough power being feed to it to do so.
  11. Mate this is what i do all the time..misses thinks im mental, i even have it worked out to down shift with a rev in between.just like a manual but trust me when your up it, the gear box is quick.. Hold it FLAT smash the stick at 6thou Nothing qicker in our class.. .But as d to r it dont matter..Fluid coupling..

i know this is slightly off the topic but since you guys are talking about gear shifts..wanted to ask you something..

when in sequential shift mode, when i am about to shift to the next gear while accelerating, i have this habit of quickly releasing the accelerator and then shifting to the gear up and then pressing on the acc pedal again as in how we do on a manual gearbox. I find it gives the closest feeling to a manual with a clutch and find the gear shifts much quicker without a delay because the engine is not reving to hard while shifting and the gearbox doesnt find it hard to shift..my question is..is this bad for the gearbox or alright? Let me know what you guys think :) Cheers

  12. Hey guys. just got my aurion back today.. been at toyota for service.. let them know about dash rattel.. wow.. was so scared about knob jockey fingering my car. feels so different to drive....Only cause im not trying to find rattel.Pisssing everybody off in the car turning the music up and down saying can you here that can you here that like a fargin serial nut case. They ripped the dash out, changed clips, changed my consol(cracked screw mounts they said) also put new ac vents in cause they make noise also. If you boys are experiencing the same thing, just do it...Cost nothing...Might be in my head but feels like a new caryahoo.gif I must say i have had a very low opinion of dealerships. Boy was i wrong. These guys treated me great. Was so impressed... Go toyota

  13. leaving the poor guy alone.

Has anyone investigated if apexi power FC or the greddy e-manager has something for the aurion engine?

just read their website..it says for most jap cars....but im sure it would be mainly suited for nissans and honda's.

I guess it may be possible to get it tuned professionally...but i don't know if that will screw other functions on your car as i have heard the ecu is very fussy. I was having a chat with a mate wondering if it is possible to change the car to have mid range torque instead of high torque. Sure it will use more fuel but it would be beneficial performance wise.
