Hi,

I would like to know how many of the Australian consumers have had transmission problems with their RAV4 manufactured 2001/02/03.

The problem might start with a light on the dashboard and codes/or none to change solenoids.You might experience problems with your gearbox shifting erratically and if your mechanic changed the onboard computer-ECU/ECM, or worse, the gearbox, then you are one of many customers with the same problem. Toyota has just acknowledged this in the States and is reimbursing all customers.See link

Consumer power has won in the USA-you can do the same.

Please read the link-Toyota is reimbursing for repairs on ECU/ECM and transmission in the States.

I checked with a mechanic who repairs the ECM and he told me that ECM's are different for different markets, however, they function the same.
