  1. My 2009 AWD has this problem since early this year. I took her to Toyata service three weeks but they found nothing. The mechanic tested the car with me seating in side and drove arocess a number of streets in low speed, no noise came out for the whole duration. I could not work out how to make the noice appear. It just happens while driving, in all sort of conditions.

  2. I took a road trip to WA (from Sydney) over the holiday season and notticed differences on fuel consumptions between NSW and WA. I have the 09 model Kluger and I always put in premium ULP either from Shell or Caltex . The car normally assumed around 10 Lt/100km when travelling long distance at eastern states (QLD, NSW, Melb). When I was in WA, the consumption went up to around 13 Lt/100km and at one stage, I suspected the car was having trouble. So I decided to keep the record on my way back. See below of the chart:

Petrol Station Location Petrol Type Price ($/Lt) Consumption (Lt/100km) Note

    Esperance (WA) Caltex 98Vortex $1.44 13.1

Balladonia Road House (WA) BP 91 $1.80 15.5 Added $52, Still have 1/5 of a tank when filling

Cocklebiddy (WA) BP Premium $1.90 16.1 Added $84.51 to the empty tank (distance to travel = 0)

Eucla (WA) Caltex Standard ULP $1.61 14.7 Added 2 Lt from the Jerry tank on the way, empty when filling

Ceduna (SA) Shell V-Power $1.52 12 Added all petrol from the Jerry Tank on the way

    Port Augusta (SA) Shell V-Power $1.33 12

Broken Hill (NSW) Caltex Vertex 95 $1.41 11.5

    Cobar (NSW) Shell 95 $1.43 11.6

Dubbo (NSW) Shell V-Power $1.38 10.2 Still have 1/3 of Petrol in Tank after 400km of travel

So I concluded there must be some Fuel substances being used in WA, specially for those petrol stations located on the Eyre High Way. I would not mind paying extra for fuel when travelling at remote area like Eyre HighWay but I do not like the fuel consuption rate is so high (a full Tank goes $350km instead of $600). I would have been in trouble if I did not have the 20Lt Jerry Tank with me. Does anyone has the same experience?

  3. It's getting time to replace our late 2003 Kluger but when I first saw the middle seat in the second row of the second generation Kluger I dismissed the idea of buying one.

I thought this seat would be inadequate with our three children especially on long trips.

I ventured back to the dealership recently and this time sat in this middle seat and was surprised how comfortable it was but I would value input from anyone who has used this seat for 1000+ km trips.

Our kids are 13, 10 and 8 and again we'll keep this car for 5+ years.

    What are people's experiences?

    Thanks,

    Michael.

We had a return trip to GoldCoast / Mid QLD (from Sydney) last Xmas. The return trip took 16 hours straight without any issues. We have three kids (16, 13, 10 at that time) and they are all taller than average.

  4. I just bought a pair of roof racks from ebay that will mount directly to the roof rails. But the instruction said I need to open the straight roof rail rear cover to install the racks. Has anyone done that before and can tell me a number of steps on opening the cover. I do not want to try without knowing which way to pull and break it. Thanks in advance.
