  1. He says that the revs are going up though, which doesn't seem like fly-by-wire lag. Sounds more like the torque converter is slipping, tried a transmission fluid service?

Thanks for your replies guys. I dont think I'm accelerating particularly hard, but perhaps I am

As for the revs going up.... I'm gonna have to double check it now, its making me second guess myself... maybe they are not going up

  2. Hi Guys

I haven't been on the forums much lately, my Aurion has been really smooth and very happy with it. I have an intermittent problem however - I have tried very hard to make it repeatable or try to get something that I can pin down, but so far I'm not successful

When I come to a give-way type of intersection, I coast up ton the intersection and then accelerate out. However, every now and then when I put my foot down, nothing happens, I'm totally dead in the water. The engine revs, but it doesnt feel like a gear has been engaged. Typically the speed is between 30 and 40 km/hr. This lasts for a least 1 second until it gets into gear. The other day it happened on the highway at ~100km/h when I tried to pass a car. i squeezed into a gap and had to gun it a little to make the pass, put my foot down and nothing. It hasnt happened at speed before or since.

I had it 80,000k serviced the other day and the toyota mechanics couldnt find a fault, thought it might be something to do with the flywire but were very arm wavy and vague. I have been through the last 6 pages of forum posts, but can't find any mention of it. Has anyone experienced this problem, or have any ideas?

Also, can someone recommend a good fuel additive for cleaning my injectors, please. I have never used one and its probably due.

    Cheers :)

  3. There are a number of ways the button can be set up using the intelligent tester. They can be 1 press, 2 press, 0.8s press (default) and off.

What was it before the issues you had and what happens when using the other remote?

it used to be one press, held down. I checked with the other remote, and it takes two presses also. When these things are programmed, is it the key that is programmed or the receiver?

  4. Hi all

Anyone else have this problem? my boot open on the remote needs to be pressed at least twice, sometimes three and up to 4 times to open the boot. I've taken the catch off a couple of times when installing a rear view camera so I don't know if this has anythign to do with it, but its a bit annoying standing there waiting for the boot to decide when its going to open.

Ive looked at the catch and observed the moving parts when i press the remote, to the naked eye they all seem to work just fine, and there is no difference in how easily/far the catch moves whether i press the remote once or twice. I went through the repair manual and couldnt find anything on this

any advice out there please? tnx :)

  5. I just did a drive from Melbourne to Brisbane and back for Xmas. Took my wife and 4 month old (bub was fine, he loves the travel and handled it well. most people thought we were crazy to bring a bub)

    Aurion ATX

Trip up was done in stages to meet up and travel with family (Sister and her family with young boys) in Canberra, so we had to put some stops in for her young uns

Melbourne to Canberra Boring trip, done it so many times, takes 6.5 hours and 55L of fuel. 660kms. Wildlife avoided: none. Its the hume highway, there is nothing for miles around. Wildlife hit: a whole lotta locusts.

Canberra to Port Macquarie (o'nite stop), then to Byron bay for family Picked up my old man, so we had 3 + bub in the car. Would have been fine except for the Christmas traffic. And water, water everywhere. Seriously, the east coast was knee deep. Wildflife hit: none, didn't see anything except rain on the windscreen

After this stayed with the folks a few days in Caboolture (between Brisbane and sunshine coast)

    Coming home:

Brisbane to Dubbo. Great trip, left 5am and arrived 3pm, not christmas traffic and not one cop!! We did it on 31/12, so the cops must have been gearing up for the new years celebrations. The road all the way to Moree was pretty nasty due to the rain, lots of potholes and broken up road. Thankfully I only hit one pothole at speed (around 110km/hr) which bottomed out badly, but no apparent damage done. Cunninghams gap was only just open, but with no traffic I could really fly through the pass. Wifes knuckles are still a bit white. So much water in the country its unbelievable. Wildlife avoided: two emus and a few galahs. Wildlife hit: I think it was a budgie, missus thinks it was a pigeon. Only god really knows

Dubbo to Melbourne. Straight down the Newell, no cops again! Probably due to news years the night before. Much more interesting than the first part of the Newell. Wildlife avoided: 1 rabbit (not so much avoided as missed) and 1 feral cat. didnt see a single kangaroo, other than the ones 'sleeping' on the side of the road. Wildlife hit: none

Overall: The aurion was super comfortable to drive in all conditions on all roads, except for the big pull to the left which had me switching hands to stop my muscles getting tired from holding the wheel. I added up the fuel dockets and (nerd that I am) put them in a spreadsheet. If anyone is interested I can post it up when I get home, but basically I covered 4500 kms, spent $475 on petrol. If I had driven straight to Caboolture and back from Melbourne it would have cost me $385 bucks. I experimented with E10, regular unleaded and 95 premium, and found that regular was overall best. My econonmy for the trip was 8.9L/100kms if I include the tank of E10, or 8.2L/100kms if I don't. I really enjoyed the drive, had a blast and am planning a trip to Adelaide next month. So many good things to say about the Aurion after this trip, but in particular the ability to overtake road trains at speed, the stopping power and control, and the comfort levels (even in the ATX) were great for everyone in the car.

  6. Hello all

I have come to the less-than-epiphanic realisation that I don't use the semi-auto transmission gear selector thing enough... actually, I don't use it at all. The aurion is the first auto I have driven, and I just don't have the feel for the gears anymore and have become totally lazy.

So when do you guys select the gear you want? any tips to doing it? How many just cruise around in auto-mode?

    I'm all ears

  7. Hi all

I just had my AT-X tinted and I thought I'd share my experience for anyone thats thinking of getting it done.

    Why tint:

To reduce UV exposure and heat for 3 month old baby in the car capsule in the back seat. At least thats how I sold it to the missus. It just looks cool :)

    Location

    Melbourne

    Product research:

I think that its not hard to make a film that will block UV, its hard to get a flm to stick (I'm a chemist and know something of surface technology). So I only wanted a film made by a reputable technology company, such as 3M. I intially wanted a ceramic film, however they are too reflective, and therefore illegal in Australia. I excluded metallic films, as I just installed gps, bluetooth, etc and these can interfere. I ruled out any mobile tinting service, as it should be done in a clean, controlled environment. I found a guy running his own business 'Car Tint', and has been in the business 17 years, with some really great reviews of his work. He does a lot of luxury vehichles for ads.

He recommended using 'charcool' by Madico, which doesn't contain metals. Madico have a good repuation. The only drawback of this film is that it can look a little greenish. I chose this film, in 35% transmission, the darkest legal in Australia.

    Results:

I'm very happy with the finally result. The guy took 3-4 hours to install, and he really took his time to get it perfect. It didn't help that it was ****** rain and quite cool.

We went for a 1/2 day drive on the weekend and the reduction in UV was great, for once my driving arm didnt get burnt. Its hard to commet on heat reduction, however the sun coming through the windscreen was much stronger than that coming through a tinted window. Our baby was very comfortable, and much cooler. The weather was only 20 deg, outside, and although the sun was warm there was a cool breeze. Probably have to wait till summer to notice anything more.

    Time to install

3-4 hours. He took the door trim off, and cut around the brake light on the parcel shelf.

    Cost

    396. Thats a lot of money for a tint, however I was really looking for the best job available

I took a lot of photos, and included some here

  8. Wanted to say thanks to all posters on this forum, ive been reading it for quite a while now and with the guides posted ive upgraded a few things, and saved myself a lot of money by doing it myself. found the tocau forums in general really great, but the aurion forum is where i like to hang out. keep it up guys! i'd write more but i got a broken finger and cbf :)

  9. By the way guys, should I get the one with Digital TV unit or without? Different is $100 bucks. Can we watch tv without setting up an external antenna?

You will definitely need another antenna, and probably a booster, to pick up dtv. Mine has dtv, i installed the aerial that comes with it and couldnt pick up any kind of signal at all. Check ebay for all kinds of different antennas. I havent bothered with mine, I just dont know that I'd ever use dtv. on a bright day the screen is hard enough to see as it is when playing movies that have dark scenes(though Im getting the windows tinted next week, that might improve things a little). Ive seen an antenna around that has three antennas across the rear window and one external, that seems like it would do the best job.

Might be an add-on for a later date

  10. Hi all

I've been reading these forums for a long time now, love the forums and love the aurion. After reading posts by the members here I installed an ebay'd HUD, and it's working very well. I have the one sold by autome305. However, I haven't put the ipod port anywhere, because I can't decide on a good place to have it. Where did you guys put it?

For those who don't know, the ipod cable plugs into the back of the unit, and the other end of the cable had an ipod connector. The cable is just loose, and flops around like an untrained seal as there is no obvious place to have it. I'm not that keen on cutting out some part of the dash to access it.

Any ideas, and especially pictures, would be much appreciated, thanks.

  11. Hi guys,

I'm a new Aurion owner as well as new to this forum. From the topics that you guys discuss, many owners out there install that Auspack head unit that has all-in-1 functions. It looks really awesome and just wonder can any of you guys can direct me to a trustable service shop in Melbourne that has the head units and can fix it up for a reasonable price. The installation looks complicated, would this void my car warranty?

What kinda of price am I looking at inclusive of installation?

By the way seems like there are a few different kinds of similar head unit on ebay, which one is considered the best unit? (Auspack?)

Thanks guys, really apprecitate your assistance!!

I installed the head unit sold by autome305 on ebay after following the instructions posted here by members of this forum. It is here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-CAR-DVD-GPS-fit-TOYOTA-CAMRY-AURION-2007-2010-/320611146010?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa5e9d91a. I installed the rear view camera, but that stopped working (I think I broke it, I told autome305 and he said to send it back. I have done so a week ago, and am waiting a replacement). I did the installation of the head unit first go, without damage to the car, and I am a complete noob when it comes to car electronics/audio/etc. The head unit has worked perfectly. I live in Melbourne near footscray, if you want a look, let me know and I'll show you the system, we can chat about how to install it. I can show you how I installed the rear view camera too.
