Very sadly scant on details (Gotta click on the quote subjects to go see the full text, this forum editor is a pain in the butt D: )

    and

That's a thing that I'd almost very willingly find the money to do to my TRD.

that was me that tried the in wheel motors on my TRD.. a friend has them in his all electric RX7 which is a project car.. we basically bolted the motors to the rear of the TRD with bracket and another temporary bracket to the throttle with a potentiometer..it was basically just to see what it could do.. with nearly 200kg in ancillary weight of batteries and motors. it was awesome...

sorry. i dont really come on this forum much these days...

my hobby of screwing almost 500hp out of jetski engines is taking over my life.. I still have my TRD but its still the way it is.. i toyed with the idea of getting methanol injection, intercooler, and another supercharger drive wheel made up but to be honest, when you can get to close to 2 second to 100km/h on the water, nothing ever feels fast. and anothe kinder suprise (unplanned baby) has pretty much meant game over in wasting monies on cars.. i would say the the torque provided by the brushless motors and with the limited battery power that i could carry in the boot at the time, the torque, and acceleration were brutal.. it was crude and we were not sure whether the rear wheels were driving at a even speed as it was literally a weekend job and it had to be removed. I used Vtech on the jetskis along with an editor to adjust fuelling and timing maps, the thought has crossed my mind to try it on the TRD/ but i simply have not had the time..

i do drop in once a year to read up on things of interest but its getting less and less.. still love my TRD and as someone said previously, it has a character that one cannot put a finger on...

  2. robbo,

it wasnt a race track, just sections of country roads closed off for an event.

it wasnt a smooth race track.

there were plenty of high powered porcshes there, most owners were backing off around 200km/h.. but the section i got my speed run was quite a bumpy exit corner, a short straight then hard on the brakes into a hair pin.

the aurion is no race car. but it surprised the hell out of myself and others what it was capable of.

  3. @robbozr6,

just saying i never had a chance to unleash the trd aurion in that type of environment.

super car fast is all up to the individual. if i want to go from around 4km/h to 100km/h in just over 2 seconds, i use the water for that.

and majority of people that owned the porsches, were generally in the 60+ age group.

going fast is one thing, but dont forget the stopping power of the trd aurion over the standard aurion. repeated stops from around 200km/h to around 60km/h and no brake fade.

i would really like to see a track day of a zr6 vs a trd aurion of the same model.

  4. i had the privilege of being invited out with the porsche club of wa a few weekends back, out of a field of 30 porsches of various ages, the trd aurion placed a very impressive 6th place overall and best terminal velocity down a section of closed road at 245 km/h.

the speedo after 150km/h is bloody impressive and she gets skittish around 180km/h on some flowing corners.

but the acceleration is relentless, i hit the speed limiter 3 times which is around 250 km/h, too focused to look down. but wow.. 4th to 5th gear changes around 170km/h, car surges forward into 5th it just keeps going!

and the braking! wow.. my teenage son and i received a standing ovation by the club members when we pulled in as we were last out on the circuit..

to the people at toyota oz, a incredible job on a fleet sedan. pity no more were ever made. i cannot bring myself to part with this car.. TRD aurion518 is the best family car i have ever had. and it did the circuit with a baby seat in the back!

  5. ah ok.. sorry.. my friends sportivo's ride seems a bit harsh, considering i ride on 20inch wheels, and in the trd which is alot lower than the same model sportivo.. not really sure what they did..

    whats "auction white" anyway?

  6. i thought the only aurion of the gsv40 type that had any suspension modifications was the trd. the rest of them were just body kits. hell, my friends sportivo looks more "sporty" then my trd aurion. if you like all the plastic bolt on bits. each to their own

  7. there was a write up on a interface box made by djkor i think... its in the forum somewhere.. it wasnt very complicated.. i made the box, tried it.. but removed it as i was going to sell my TRD.

but then things changed and still have TRD and missus uses it. we moved house and its most probably in a box with my original stereo and original brake rotors..

since playing around with the in electric wheel motors and having them on the rear wheels.. that may be something i may undertake once costs of this sort of technology becomes more affordable.

  8. i have no idea.

i'll post up more about awd stuff when i have time. it actually wasn't that hard. i need boot space with baby so all thay has been pulled out. and it was from a friends all electric rx7.

i am time poor atm. alot of work on and alot of turbo conversions to do.

    Ecu, suspension, brakes..

    That's just the start.

Pretty sure it would be cheaper to adapt paddle shifters to the older model. A guy bought my TRD wheels from me and put them in the new sportivo.

Personally I don't like the way they look. Too much plastic going on.

Man i totally agree with your point. Although i personally don't mind the new aurion design, i must say the older aurion bodykit looks waaaay better. Another reason for me to consider the 07 TRD Aurion.

Also, whats the complexity level of installing the paddle shifters retro?

  9. Toyota is a champion and making boring and bland cars. Even the brz thing with Subaru lacks any real fun.

I have been looking at replacing my TRD. For awhile, and have been eye balling a ISF only to be told it can't tow things.

I modify jetski's with aftermarket turbo kits, the only turbo you will see in a camry is when it's strapped onto a diesel engine.

On the plus side my TRD Aurion is awd now. In wheel electric motors with some decent capacitors and batteries is what I am playing with. Acceleration is brutal :)

  10. Ecu, suspension, brakes..

  11. myself and another trd owner use a mobile guy. cash work, after hours. comes to you.

i am fussy with my work. especially with trd.

he cannot do wheel alignments etc but thats what wilkinson suspension is for.

i shopped around for weeks and was about to do the work myself. this guy came along in a sedan, did the work in 1hr flat.

i avoid the big chains like the plague. automasters f**cked up my pajero few years ago
