  1. Thanks guys :) Sunday 17/2/13 I was driving home from the shops when the engine started to make a loud clicking/rattle noise. At first I thought the exhaust had cracked so I pulled over to have a look under the car and the exhaust was fine. Then I popped the bonnet and started the engine and confirmed that the problem was in the engine and thought that I had spun a bearing since the engine has always burnt oil. Limped it home and then did a compression test, 1st was 130psi, 2nd 30, 3rd 30 and 4th 25. Left it for a bit and then did another one, this time the results were 1st 130, 2nd 80, 3rd 30 and 4th 25 again. After these results I was hoping it was only the headgasket since it was an easy and cheap fix. I was actually meant to go to Japan Sunday night but I decided to stay and work for that week since if I went to Japan I'd spend all my money and wouldn't know how long it would be until i could afford to fix it since I wont be working full time anymore once uni starts. Monday 18/2/13 Pulled the head off to see how the head gasket looked Head gasket blown between cyl 3 and 4 Ordered a new head gasket, should be here on thursday. Also ordered the rwd water kit, dizzy block off cap, velocity stacks, coil pack plate and top radiator hose. Almost ready for it to go in, I just need to find some coil-over-plugs and finish off the wiring once I source them.
  2. yeah i heard the beep lol and i waved but my tint is to dark, was gonna beep back but you where to far lol.spotted you at liverpool kks on saturday night i waved out the window too but didn't think you'd see it yeah i walked past your car there too, surprised you saw mine though since i was only there for about 15 minutes
  3. Spotted Rolls87 on king georges road last night, gave you a beep when I was beside you
  4. Thanks :) There's still heaps of people building really nice ae86's, you just never see them around since most builds turn into full restorations Thanks :) Happy to help haha Friday 11/1/13 Did some more work on the wiring. It's pretty much all done, just need to solder it to the stubby loom from the ecu and sort out the wiring for the coilpacks once i buy some And everything thats been cut off the loom: Monday 14/1/13 I bought some whitelines last week and they arrived today Old sprinter lights: New Taillights: During installation: Both lights in: Drove around like that for the rest of the week since I didnt have any numberplate lights to go in the garnish. Sunday 20/1/13 Bought some numberplate lights so put the centre garnish on Lights out and holes drilled: Centre garnish fitted: Wednesday 23/1/13 I bought a brand new kouki rear bar and brackets since they had been discontinued recently and didnt want to miss out Unwrapped: Assembled: Zenki bar: Kouki bar fitted:
  5. This one had no ecu or loom so thats probably why it was so cheap. Probably going to put one of them in and then rebuild the other, or maybe rebuild the 16v and put some itbs onto that Friday 28/12/12 Finished splitting up the loom and is pretty much ready to cut up Saturday 29/12/12 Resprayed the rear bar, it didnt really need it but it was just to make it match the front bar Bar before: Rear bar off: After scotchbrite: Primered: Brackets before paint: Tow hooks before paint: Rear bar after paint and reassembled: Back on the car: Looks like the car has been hit in the back at some point too. There's a dent in the spare tyre wheel well and the rear seam is full of bog Also got to have a better look at the rust with the rear bar off and found another small spot Before: After welding a plate in and then sealing it: New rust spot after rust converter: - Sealed this one with silicone but didnt get a photo of that afterwards Sunday 30/12/12 Trimmed the dash mat to fit:
  6. Lucky find on gumtree. He was asking 400 and I asked if hed take 300 and I'd take it today and he said yes
  7. Thanks :) Monday 24/12/12 Dashmat arrived. Its a little too long so ill have to trim it down for it to fit properly Wednesday 26/12/12 Tagged the loom and started to separate it into left and right side looms Thursday 27/12/12 Bought another silvertop. didnt really need it but it was only $300 so it was too good of a deal to let go
  8. Saturday 22/12/12 The paint on the front bar was getting damaged from stones and red paint was coming through and I didnt like the glossy paint that was on it so I decided it was time to paint it Stone chips and cracked paint: Front bar off: Bar and lip after some scotchbrite: After paint: Back on the car: Painted the bumper brackets too, before: After: Added plugs in for each of the fog lights too since before there wasnt any and I had to cut the wires to get them off. Havent put them back on yet, might leave it for a bit and decide later if I'll put them back on or not.
  9. not worth the risk of trapping sand Tuesday 18/12/12 Started to label the plugs on the loom. Got most of them done but still a few I'm not too sure on. Will have to look at the wiring diagram again to be sure Friday 21/12/12 Got a new loom and plug for the ecu. All the wires are already labeled to it should make joining the two looms together easier Also met another hachi owner at my work christmas party. (17s are on because his 15s are shredded after a drift day at Wakefield)
  10. Monday 17/12/12 Went to a friends shop to powdercoat the cam cover. I rushed the prep so it turned out pretty bad but I'll strip it and try again. Thinking about just using paint next time since it will be easier to match with the plastic covers This is how it was supposed to look: And this is how it turned out. You cant see it that well in the photos but the coat is really rough and not very glossy on the exhaust side
  11. Sunday 16/12/12 I put a deposit down on a ST 20v on Monday and today I went to pull it out of the car with my dad. After getting it home and stripping it down a little: Its on the engine stand now and I have the loom too, just didn't get any pics of that. I should have enough order the RWD parts for it this week
  12. Saturday 17/11/12 Picked up a 2nd hand cw&p Sunday 18/11/12 Stripped the centre and painted the housing Pulling bearings off: Pinion: Crown Wheel: Cleaned housing: Painted: Monday 19/11/12 New pinion, diff and wheel bearings: Tuesday 20/11/12 Assembled the centre with the new bearings and cw&p Wednesday 21/11/12 Took the centre to a family friends shop to get them to make sure the backlash was set correctly and to press the new wheel bearings on Thursday 22/11/12 Got the axles and centre back Assembled the housing so it was ready to be put back in Friday 23/11/12 Put it all back into the car (sorry for the bad pics) Also found a rust hole in the passenger side rear wheel well
  13. Yep :/ No you didnt Monday 12/11/12 Got the diff out of the car Jacked up: Axles: Diff housing: Crown wheel: Pinion Gear: And the missing pieces:
  14. Sunday 11/11/12 The diff blew. Wasnt driving hard or anything, just pulled away from some lights and it went :/
  15. Yeah just electrical tape haha Rears aren't a coilover and the fronts are just threaded insert that uses the stock strut Wednesday 31/10/12 Bought a kouki cluster and some genuine black door handles since my drivers side one was torn Old cluster: New cluster: Gave the glass a polish: Installed: The first time I plugged it in none of the lights that illuminate the tacho and speedo were working so I thought it was the bulbs. Switched them over from the old cluster and they still didn't light up. Turns out there was some corrosion on the light circuit so I cleaned that off and then it worked fine. New door handles, these are in really good condition for their age:
