2003 100 series turbo diesel very intermittent won,t start. Turns over but no fire. Leave it for a few minutes or may be a few hours and it starts fine. May not happen again for months. Auto electrician could find no fault codes stored. Any ideas.?

Yes insurance would be an issue, although how would they know. It could be the reading of the key but the computer does not keep a memory of fault codes, so it has to fail when the diagnostic computer is actually plugged in. That never happens so bypassing the immobilizer still seems the best option. Starting to replace parts would get very expensive.
