  1. Hi

I have a Toyota Camry 1996. I installed an aftermarket alarm but can not work out how to DISABLE completely the Toyota factory immobiliser/horn/alarm.

At present the new alarm is only working thanks to the factory alarm being placed in DISARM mode – a bandaid solution and one that may revert at any time.

Further even in disarm mode, when I push the button on my new remote the factory horn beep occurs and the indicator lights flash according to the factory combination. This is combined with my new alarm beeping and indicator flashing which is almost opposite to the factory one.

So its a bit of a confusing mess. From what ive read online there is something called the CIR or Computer Integration relay that is part of the issue.

Question : How do I totally disable the factory Toyota immobiliser, alarm and horn ?

    G'day Fifey,

You've got me completely mystified as to why you would wish to disable what seems to be a fully functional alarm/immobiliser only to replace it with an aftermarket job?

My owner's manual "to enable/disable horn chirp:

    1. Turn headlight switch 'OFF'

    2. Cycle the ignition switch from 'LOCK' to 'ON' 3 times within 5 seconds, leaving it 'ON'.

    3. The vehicle security indicator will illuminate continuously for 5 seconds.

    4. Operate the horn within 5 seconds of the indicator illuminating. The turn signal lights will flash once to confirm that horn chirp has been enabled/disabled.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to 'LOCK' and test the system with the remote controls."

    "NOTICE

Do not modify, remove or disassemble the engine immobiliser system. If any unauthorised changes or modifications are made, the proper operation of the system cannot be guaranteed."

Sounds like risky business to me if it's for your own car.

Could be safest option to leave it up to Pedro to 'FIX' it for you.

If you want to disable immobilisers on strangers' cars, then probably best to ask your local automotive Rebirther for tips, but please don't try on my car!
