Very nice ride! I to love the white it took me 3 months to find the right one.

I was looking at the new model head unit and it looks good:

Has any one on this forum purchased this unit and are there any negative points to consider. I had a look at the standard unit installed in my Prodigy. Would not know where to start to take it out. Are there any guidelines on the forum. There does not seem to be a search function.
I had a look on you-tube and there were links showing you how to remove and install

Very nice I like it!

I would remove the letters with the hair dryer like Couzellion said and clean up with Double D Eucalyptus Oil, clean the paint of oil with warm soapy water, stick the letters onto good quality 3M double sided tape and use a 1.5 or 3mm window packer as a spacer for the letters.

The sad thing about this problem is that every Toyota engineer we have spoken to lie about this defect as something normal. Shouldn't this be a subject for product recall? It is quite annoying that the car jerks so hard when you disengage from P in an incline. Sooner or later I'm afraid the gear might break and that would be very expensive to fix. :(
You shouldn't rely on the Park shift to hold the car it's not designed to hold the weight of the car, one day it will break and you will have damage to your gear box and what ever your car runs into. The P/shift is probably only a small 6 mm shaft that's drops into a hole in the g/box case.
As for the hand break it should be able to hold the weight of the car forwards or reverse. If they are drum rears the shoes should automatically adjust as the shoes wear. If they aren't adjusting they are probably full of dust and clogged, and they are easy enough to dismantle clean and re-lube. If the drums have been machined and the shoes have wear you might not be able to adjust the cable enough.
If they are disc's it could be the same that they have been machined down, wear on the pads, cable adjustment.

Hey mate how has the Eonon unit worked out, I'm thinking about doing the same upgrade to a 2008 touring.

My reason for buying was to up grade my wife's 1999 pulsar.
It was a great reliable car and was good on fuel, but we needed more room for when we travel up to our Rainbow Beach Holiday House.
So I started looking at Camry's, thinking they were good reliable and roomier.
While searching through a car yard a salesman steered me in the direction of an Aurion and I was hooked.
I didn't end up buying his car, I bought privately and purchased a 2008 Touring 57000ks one owner service history new tires 12 months reg $14900.
My Wife and I are very happy with the car so far.

I've just signed up and thought it would be the right thing, to say hello. I have just purchased a 2008 Aurion Touring it has 57000 ks and drives like new, I'm very happy with the car and I'd like to hear from other people about the upgrades they do and helpful hints.
Regards
Gavin
