I bought Kumo KL 51 tyres recently. They look rugged but are designed mainly for higway and metro. Slightly cheaper too than the original Grandtrek.

bridgestone OEM's 245/55 19" appear around the $320 each up to $415 each.

toyo open country 245/55 19" around 260 mark

appears now

dunlop grandtrek pt2 come in our size 245/55 19"

cheapes for the bridge stones was $265 @ st george tyes in sydney other tyre shops said no way to match it

they said they were doing parallel imports of the tyres

any problems with that? warranty?

as I am only changing 2 tyres need to keep the standard size?

any feedback about the toyo open country or even the dunlop grandtreks?

otherwise will have to stick with the bridgestone's not impressed they lasted less than 50,000kms.

Ring Tempe Tyres for a quote. I bought 4x Kumho ( R17)- KL51 for $175 each fitted and balanced. $60 for alignment front and back. Tempe Tyres are a high volume dealer so their pricing is always good..

2012 Kluger KX-R 2WD

Just returned from a 2000k round trip Newcastle to Brisbane. Most of the way it returned 8.3/100k constant.

On the road from Surfers to Caboolture the consumption dropped dramatically to low 7's and for the last 50k or so was steady on 7.0/100k travelling at 100-110kph.

This is brilliant for the size of the motor and the weight it carries.

The only load onboard was myself and my luggage and some junk so that would make a difference. I would not expect these figures with 4 passengers and a heap of luggage.

The car is a dream to drive on long distance, everything is so effortless and very comfortable.

I used Caltex premium going up and BP Ultimate on the return journey. The car did seem to respond better to the BP Ultimate but returned similar consumption figures.

Around here it seems that Caltex unleaded and premium are the same thing so i wont be wasting my money on caltex premium any more but will buy BP Ultimate whenever possible.

Thats about right Barnsey. I average about 12 metro driving but can have consumption as low as 7.8 freeway driving.

I normally get around 8.1 for our annual trip up to the central coast from Sydney.Very impressive!

Always use 95 or 98. Not sure if economy levels are better than 91 but a least i know 98 will keep the engine healthy and clean.

I average about 12.3 for approx 40,000 km in total. Currently getting 11.5 . Mostly metro driving.

Just paid $175 per tyre, fitted and balanced for Kumho KL51. Seemed like a good deal to me.

Lets hope they are genuine..!

Just had new tyres fitted ( Kumho). Checked tyre pressure after fitting and noticed it was at 46 psi...!

I did reduce to 36 psi but surely this isnt standard for the car or the tyre..?
