If you're in Melbourne DO NOT, go to the one on Geelong Road.. They're completely hopeless..
Ordering my car from them was the most worst experience I have ever had in terms of customer service..
I was getting my car fitted with optional extras, calling them up, they had no clue what was going into the car or anything.. they're very poor at managing themselves that's for sure

Thanks for the great response, Dave.
Here's what I was actually looking at:

But you're right, I should perhaps wait until I get the car before considering what needs to be swapped out/changed or added.
Thanks again

Hey guys,
My cars coming in a few more weeks, really excited haha!
I'm running through a listing of modifications in my head on a daily basis to be honest.I'm just curious though, Is there any benefit of having an Oil Cooler on a stock 86?
The BRZ/86 don't come with an Oil cooler out of factory so they're obviously heat up quicker than your normal sports cars, and considering tracking it, you'd probably but want to keep the oil cool to prolong engine life to some extent?
Just wondering, is it worth getting an oil cooler as your first engine mod?
and, is it possible to get slight gains considering the oil temps cooler?
Cheers

Anyone registering to enter this?
I'd take it the owner of the slammed Camry (think he's a photographer or something for 100mm, and yes, his Camry is Static lol)
And, my mate who isn't on this forum, he drives a little EG Civic, used to own an MK1 Golf

Did you know you can get pulled over for having your fog lights on in Victoria?
haha!
Stupid, right?
It's happened to me with my old ZZE
My suggestion:
"Read the manual it came with...."- 1

Does the car actually get any gains from this at all??

Hi, Im new here.
I recently bought a silver 2003 Corolla Sportivo with 144Kkms. It is a fun car, but it has a weird grinding noise when riding the clutch, particularly in reverse.
The noise is worst when reversing from cold start. It is a kind of TZZZZZ noise that is quite loud once I start to reverse, riding the clutch, though stops once I let the clutch out completely. It is nowhere near as loud when engaging 1st, and can only just be heard if I ride the clutch during 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear changes.
The gearbox itself seems otherwise OK during normal driving, with possibly only the slightest of bearing noises and no syncro issues when driving - it is only bad when releasing the clutch in reverse. The shift action has a pretty average feel to it, but it goes into gears just fine, with only a slight snick.
As a side, I find the clutch hard to get just right on take off. I either spin the clutch or bog down. The take up point was originally quite low to the floor, which I have raised a little by adjusting the clutch push rod out 2 turns. I was told that the clutch had always been like that since the previous owner bought the car 3 years ago. It had apparently had a new clutch before she bought it.
I have also changed the gearbox oil to Redline MT80(?) and added Nulon additive. I can't recall if the current noise was there before I adjusted the clutch and changed the oil.
Some of my thoughts are the noise could be:
a thrust bearing problem, but would expect it to occurr in all gears;
an input shaft bearing, though I would expect that it would be constant noise whilst driving - unless it is just commencing and is worst under load.
reverse gear isn't initially fully engaging, which would be a linkage problem; or
an engine or gearbox mount is shot, so the drivetrain is moving under load and hitting something? I note that sometimes when starting the car I do hear a similar noise for a fraction of a second.
Any ideas?
If I can't get any solid leads from here, I might try fiddling with the clutch rod and bleed the clutch cylinder and adjusting the clutch rod to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks,
James

Re-phrase: which Toyota Service Centres do you recommend for servicing your 86?
NOT Footscray!! If their service centers are anything like their sales, you'll only end up constantly being lied to... Freakin' A##holes, seriously got nothing nice to say about them
Just noticed you're in Sydney... This is for anyone in Melbourne then

Sup Guys,
I'm an old member that's returning to TOCAU.
I decided to create a new account via the Facebook login thing, coz I can't remember my password and username from my old account for the freakin' life of me!
Anyways, I was an ex Corolla Sportivo owner and had sold it about 3 months ago because I bought an 86 which I'm still disappointingly waiting for, but yeah, I been told by the dealer that my build that is now set for March and he seemed pretty sure of himself this time...
Cheers guys

lift in 86?

It's just VVTi, and when you think about it, most cars these days come out with some sort of Variable Valve Timing..
Don't think it's really compatible to lift, I've tried it on a freeway on ramp near my place, car was warm as well.. it's quite gradual, won't say there's quite a kick to it either.
Mind you, this is coming from an ex-ZZE owner as well
