  1. I'm looking at installing a 2 inch lift kit on my 04 Hilux steel tray ute using tough dog foam cell shocks and T/DOG 300KG-GVM leaf springs in the rear. Can this be done by myself with a little bit of mechanical knowledge or should it best be done by the professionals?

  2. I have a chipit module in my 05 D4D Hilux. They plug into both the fuel rail sensor and the MAP sensor on the intercooler.

Has 16 or so tunes you can alter with a laptop quite easily.

It comes pretuned with tune 5, and right away it made a huge difference to how it drives. Plenty of torque and also a very noticeable increase when it comes on boost around 1700rpm.

I've got mine on tune 7 now which is slightly better, however my injectors are making a bit of a racket so I'll probably drop it back to tune 5 in which everything ran quite well.

Biggest advantage of the chip is how much nicer the ute is to drive now - much less gear changes required around town and I can actually overtake someone on the freeway if the need arises.

Have you been off road with your ute, do you find it helps in low range (that is if you have a 4x4)?

  3. Hi all, I own a '04' 3L TD steel tray hilux. I use her for work and 4x4/camping. I have added to her an ARB front bulbar, safari snorkel, and 16inch off road rims (which are now pretty scratched up). I'm looking at installing rear diff lockers, a 9,500 pound winch, canvasing the back for camping and eventually a 2inch lift.
