  1. Hey bud, as the sw20 moved from 1990 to 1998 the 3SGE/TE's (im pretty sure) head was revised and power was increased. (not to mention the rear tail light change).

  2. Oh okay , yeah thats a very good point never really considered it. There's just something about the older cars that the new cars don't have. Sounds silly I guess but would be pretty awesome to cruise around in one. Thanks heaps for the help. I'm actually quit excited about looking at the corona this afternoon, just hope its a well-kept one. :)

    thanks again!

  3. I have seen T14Xs with all of the above engines (1G, 7M, 1JZ), although I'm not sure if any of them required firewall mods. You'd most likely need some kind of custom engine mounts too, nothing ever just "bolts in" to a chassis that never came with that engine series from factory - I've seen stuff on the internet say that the 22R ones fit the 1G but I've also heard people (whom I respect for their technical knowledge) say that you'll need different ones

Oh okay, sounds fair enough. I guess one of those future investments if funds go right and everything else. Thanks for the info!

  4. To start with I would swap out those wheels and hit it on the head with a hammer. You could also hit it up with some bosozoku styles! Here's a bit of food for thought. Not all the exact same model as yours, but pretty close. The wagon is a 1980 model, but I included it because the wheels look killer as does the stance. cool.gif

    Dat wagon! PWAH! lol

Im liking the side view mirrors on the quarter panels, adds a little elegance ! :P

  5. The st141's weight under 1100kg so the 4agze 'should' be enough.

But if you are going to pay people to do the work, its going to cost over 2k.

ie. 4A Engine/Gearbox crossmembers need to be changed to suit 2S

Tailshaft if you are going to use a T50 (better of with the W series)

If using the W series, will need custom bellhousing/clutch setup to the 4A block

    Fuel system, ECU and loom

a 3S swap may be more affordable or 7M maybe?

So a 7m can fit into the Corona engine bay ? Does this mean that a 1jzgte or 1ggte should also be a great choice and actually worth the change ? The engine mounts for these engines are the same as the 22RE ? :$ Sorry totally new to this and best to ask questions to those who know a lot more than make a mistake haha....

  6. Does it have the 2.4 EFI 22RE motor with a manual gearbox? Sorry, Hi there, Graeme here from the Aurion side of the site but I had an 83 Corona CS-X, fell in love with it and all the models and variations after it, studied the Avante a lot when my parents got an 86 model later on when I had an 84 Celica which was basically a 2 door Corona with pop up lights and a faster diff, even the later front wheel drive Celicas were considered 2 door Camrys, would love to help if you want. Have pics of my Corona in my album, still think they have a great look and heaps of potential. 1986...Independant rear suspension about a decade before Holden were boasting about the Commodore having it, rear wheel drive, great rack and pinion steering, comfortable, what model do you have, CS, CS-X or Avante or one of the CS-i Limited models?

Hey Graeme ! You seem to be someone who's still passionate about the RT141and 142 !! Im going to look at one for sale on friday, Would you know of any tips or hints about it ?? Its a 1985 Avante with a 5 speed manual gearbox running the 22RE engine. Would you know if its worth modifying at all ?? Im struggling to find aftermarket parts for one. So far through research I found companies selling the exhaust maniofld that fits a turbo for the Toyota 4runner. They too run a 22RE but turbo. Is this an idea at all ? or is it better to do an engine conversion ? :S I would love to have a 1ggte in it !!! :D

    thanks,

    Seb

  7. Hey there Guys,

I had noticed it has been a few years since your last post. Im currently looking at the 1985 Avante model for sale. It has a 22R-E engine (2.4 litre EFI). Im going to check into doing engine conversions too if possible!

Anyways, Where are you guys now? Do you still own your vehicles ? There seems to be very low love for this type of Toyota

  8. There was never a 5S-GTE one done, Mick's setup went a bit sour. I actually have his old 3S-GE head. My setup is still on going, I've had the setup running already but without turbo. I am currently at the stage of fitting the turbo. It costs a lot and takes a lot of time but has the advantage of being able to handle more power/boost.

even though you guy's havent done this but having the head of a 3sgte onto a 5sfe bottom work ? even fitment wise ?

  9. Thanks for the provided information.

    • With the remote door locks I could just use the key turn? Im use to alternative run arounds with my 30 yr old Rx7.
    • Gearbox probs noted…Rotaries often had similar issues, except for mine which I never thrashed.
    • So a revised head in later models? Any reliable benefits with that?
    • What’s the new lift bolt design about? Functional benefits?

Ill probly just get an early SX model anyway cuz its cheapest, lightest and old sunroofs can leak. Although ABS could be a real bonus.

    Thanks again.

A previous owner who had this lift bolt problem and shows step by step tutorial on how to fix :)

  10. Hi to all !

Im new on here and I actually don't own a Celica but It's in my plans as I recently smashed my WRX...

I'm sure this has been spoken somewhere on here but I'm just having a little bit of trouble of finding things... So I apologise if I have repeated something for like the 50th time.

I would like to know if the 3vzfe engine out of the 1991-1996 Camry will fit into the st184 celica ?? So far from the research that I have made, I have found that the Camry also had the 5sfe engine from the FWD st184. When I mean by fit I mean will it fit with minimal issues ?? (fit engine mounts, room of the engine bay, etc...) If this engine conversion is possible what gearbox (manual) would be best suited to the change ?

    Thanks for reading !! I'm super excited about owning a ST184 !
