  1. Sat Nav is Denso.

You cannot change the I agree screen,

But you can unplug the "blue" line at the back to disable the speed sensor, so it will stay on while driving. But later model like ours prob will continue when the GPS signal detects movements.

    No speed or altitude shown

There should be a new map coming soon, it works across the range of Toyota and Lexus and we will hear about it from other owners.

People in the US can get RCA input and there is a video button on the DVD but not sure if they are functional.

Still the sat nav is better than your 200$ GPS, because it is a much better receiver and update is 5 times faster than one college's top of the range tom tom. The best portable can only do 1 update per second.

All your thrustration towards the unit is software related, and I am sure there is upgrade for it... if they ever listen unsure.gif .

    Hi mate ,

Where would you have your reversing camera image(if it is Grande)? Upper screen(trip computer) or head unit?

    Cheers

  2. Hi guys,

So I have been at Toyota. No chance you can move rear camera image from upper screen to head unit unless it is a separate camera(not factory fitted). So basically you need to buy a camera(genuine of aftermarket) and connect it to head unit. There is no splitter or adaptor from upper screen to head unit.

So you can buy a camera and stick it to front of car and have a front view image on your head unit. It is a pity

  3. They did tell me an additional plug/connector is required to hook up the camera to the sat nav .The connector is only a few bucks but i wasnt given a price as yet on how much the labour would be.The reason im getting them to do it as i would have no idea how to safely remove the unit and connect it correctly , without damage or scratching the plastic surround. My next service is due in December (20,000km) , so i will get it done then.

    Dan :)

    I see.

It is easy to remove all the plastic and the unit itself. I was just stuck with that connector or splitter. So I will get one from Toyota. I am expecting a Genuine Sat Nav unit this week, so we 'll see. Would you know where your GPS antenna is situated?

    Cheers

    Alex

  4. Hi Alex , my reverse camera is still on the small display screen and not on the Stereo. I do want to get it hooked over onto the larger screen . as nice as the little display is to have (safety wise) , even Toyota concluded its too small .Ive been told i can get it hooked over and will get done at my next service due December.

    Cheers Dan.

How much are they going to charge you for that? I thought I could buy a plug or a splitter or something so I can do it myself. I found a few free plugs hanging behind the head unit but none would fit in. I better seek a professional advice.

    Cheers

  5. Hi guys,

The only problem with after market Chinese Sat Nav is the quality of the screen. If sun light gets on the screen that is it. You cant see a thing unless you have a special visor for that which doesnt exist. Genuine units are so expensive for being a good quality and lasting for ages. They are not manufactured in some basement in China using cheap accessories. If you are so in to cheap Chinese accessories why you all driving Toyotas? Go and get yourselves a Great Wall, BYD or Cherry. They are cheap and come with all you can imagine as standard and 3 or 4 times cheaper than used Toyota.

    Regards
