    ......................................................................................................................stay tuned for updates.....

Make sure to post some pics Bill :)

  2. I have cleaned a TRD pod with K&N cleaning kit and reoiled it with K&N oil and it came up like new. As for Injen i will let you know Melvinlau once i get it. Youre in the Western Suburbs (VIC) rite??? i'll let you know when i install it and youre welcome to come along and see, and lend some help if you want :).

I want to see and get a ride..haha. Let me know if you need a hand :)

  3. Firstly before everyone gets up you... PLEASE SEARCH..

Yes there was a problem, yes it has been fixed

    1. check the inside of your drivers side door, near the hindge look for a silver sticker if it is there its been done..

    2.  secondly if it continues to annoy you got to your service centre and ask for the gear selector and gear knob kit and ask them to fit it

    3. also ask them to fix your master cylinder in your clutch while your at it...

Oki i dont think i made my post clear. I picked up my car brand new after they made the recall for all the existing cars. so i never sent in the car for that. Basically i picked up the car from MCT after the long wait of about 2-3 months for them to fix up all the new cars before they released them. My question is did they fix the cabling issues on these cars before letting them out to their new owners. my understanding is that no it hasnt. The guys at the service center claim otherwise.

And yes i do use the search button very freq and has been very useful for me thanks :). I dont think this particular topic/case has been covered yet. If i missed it, im sorry, there are a lof of topics covering the general gear rattling issue.

  4. Have been getting rattles recently with the car, especially 4k rev and above. Thinking it was the gear cable and knob needing replacement, i brought it to MCT to be looked at. After "inspecting", they claim that all cars released after the recall have been updated with the new cable and knob. Can anyone verify this? Or is there anyway to check. The people working there have been less than helpful with my problems especially the notchy gear change problem which has just crept back after about 3 months of going away after they "fixed" it. Plan on making a complaint with them as its wasting a lot of my time. The fact remains there is still a rattle somewhere and I plan to bring this up again with them.

  5. you'll find that with the AEM CAI, the air flow sensor cord thingy is too short so you'll either have to lengthen it yourself or you mechanic can do it for you, however, by "cutting" the wires to extend it, it voids the warranty to that section of the car... :)

i chopped mine and extended it... oh well.. :D

i've got the 5year extended warranty... no way am i gonna wait till it expires... :D

hmm will i have the same problem with the 2zzge engine? i guess its pretty much the same...hah ahh well. Will see when it gets installed. hope i like the sound of it.

  6. Just ordered an AEM Cai today. Should hopefully be here by next week. Was looking through all the guides on how to install and after reading a few of them, I have to say I dont feel confident in doing it myself..heh. Does anyone know wheres the best place to install in Melbourne and how much it would cost?

Or if someone is kind enough to help me out, ill be really grateful and ill buy lunch and/or dinner :P

  7. Great news guys, I am going to give my stivo another go and if the problem continue to persist then I too will take it to Melbourne City Toyota... do you remember who you dealt with at MCT?? BenT?

Thanks for taking yours the lab rat.

    Cheers, Artivo. =)

yeah the guy handling my case was Mersad...

before this, he said he never heard of a case like this, well he would know now. Good luck.

  8. haha why are they giving you a mitsu car at a toyota dealer :P

anyway i had my car looked at last week. they didnt give me a car to use. But it only took a day. They said they were going to change the clutch, but they didnt. I honestly dont care what they do as long as they fix it. Had mine done at Melbourne City Toyota. They said they had guys from toyota come over take a look at it and made some adjustments.

First impression so far, its no doubt better than before. I can get into 2nd even at 8k RPMS. Sometimes there is still problem getting it in, but its a far cry from last time when i couldnt never get it in past 7k no matter what. I havent tested it much yet so have to wiat a while. It still doesnt seem as smooth as my friends tivo, but I will give it some time. I notice the clutch pedal is harder now and it bounces back much quicker than before. This is one thing i noticed as a difference between my car and my friends tivo before i had it fix. Im sure this has something to do with the gear crunch problem. According to toyota, they made an adjustment to the lever. not 100% sure what else they did, but i am definitely having more fun with the car now. Hoping it keeps up. Good luck with yours eddy.

  9. yeah i have never been able to get the car to shift properly to 2nd in high revs once since i got the car, talk about frustrating. I didnt want to give back my mates car after driving his trouble free gear box. :P

i second that. i stay in melbourne so if any of you want to prove me wrong ..... but if you break it or make it worse, you pay for it :P

  10. hah Egene, just been a bit busy :P

we should meet again some time soon.

would like to demo your K2 cause i was thinking k2, utopias, boston pro or some other speakers i had in mind. One of the brands i was looking at has a 3" mounting so that is really big, im not sure the tivo can take that.

btw where did you get your system installed, any recommendations, i bought most of my stuff outside, just need to find a good installer.

  11. Like i said, i drove my friends car and i had no problems at all changing from 1st to 2nd...not even once and i drove it for quite a while. He got in my car and couldnt do a smooth change once.

I can gurantee you its not a driver thing. I have had many people drive my car thinking it could be me and none of them could do it. I have problems changing at 7000 revs let alone 8000++. And im not doing any quick gear changes, just any normal whatever technique you want to use wont get it in smoothly. If i change below lift its no problem at all. Thats why i said to the guy at MCT i would like to see his man do it and he wasnt prepared to proved me wrong it seems.

The guy there also said that he didnt think the gear selector would fix the problem, saying it was just to fix a noise issue in the car. I dont know if i should trust any of them there now.

  12. hah i was gonna bring my friend car in as well if he kept on with that lame excuse. I said to him that my buddy couldnt shift to 2nd in my car as well but i did not have problem doing it in his. Its no coincidence.

He basically wanted me to leave and try the car a bit longer cause i only had 2k millage then. And we saw that im no pushover ( i work in a complaints department, i know how to complain ), he was more helpful. To be fair to him, i gave him a call today to get an update and he is much better than before. He said someone from toyota will be taking a look at the car when i send it in. I sure hope they send someone there and fix this thing once and for all.

  13. Thats just a load of crap to be honest. I got my tivo less than 2 months and i am already having problems with it. I have driven 4 different sportivos not including the test drives i have had and half or them work and the others dont. The kicker is i have problems changing starting at 7k rpm and at 7400 its basically impossible without crunching.

Yowzer my buddy who bought the car at the same time and place (MCT) does not have any problems. We swapped cars and we had the same results.

Brought the car in to MCT to complain. The technician gave me a runaround giving all types of excuses such as the car isnt made to rev so high. Im like it shows the red line at 8200, if that car cant shift at even 7200 , then it appears like Toyota is doing some false advertising. Then he is saying that his 30 year experienced technician had no problems with it, i told him to bring his technician out and show it to me. He gave me a lame excuse that the guy is on his lunch so i told him i would wait for him to get back. Came back later and gave another excuse that he had made a mistake and the technician wasnt done looking at my car yet. Waited another half an hour and then he told me there seem to be a problem with the clutch and there were going to order a new one and replace it. Now i have read here that someone had theirs change and it didnt fix anything and i kinda expect the same, but at least its getting somewhere. I want toyota to notice this isnt just a one off problem.

Before i got this car, i had a temporary tivo while waiting for them to fix the power issue and that car had the same problem but probably worse. That car had 10k millage when i got it.

New clutch in in 2 weeks as im too busy with work, will keep you guys posted if your interested.
