  1.  here u go guys... finally got my mate to send me the photos.  ;)

They look great m8...18's are the way me think.

COuld you let me know :

    a) what tyre size you actually ended up with?

    B) How much bumpier is the ride over standard?

    c) Any rubbing at all?

I must say those rims sure do suit your car.

  2. I reckon that 235 will definitely rub cos they are too wide for our cars. So you're getting 18x8 wheels? 205/40/18s are pretty rare but 235 I reckon is too wide.

    I've got it installed... 215/35/18

    will post pix soon

    runs smooth

Please post, would love to see the rims. How much bumpier is the ride? You left the guards unmodified?

  3. I have checked some past posts and they were mostly about 17's and correct tyre choice..very little mention of 18's.

Quick 'stoopid qn' coming from a tax accountant: "18 x 7 would be preferable to 18 x 7.5, does it actually make any difference if 215 x 40 x 18 tryes are on both rims?, more potential for rubbing with the 18 x 7.5?"

    Cheers

    Happy New Year All!

  4. Yeah I think this topic has been covered has been covered before, but anyway  my wheels are 18X7 with 215/34. The springs have been dropped by 50mm with rolled rear guard , bcos I used to carry it with 225/40 and it scrub.

Sorry anout that, any idea of a good search string?

    Cheers,

    Glen

P.s. Got eaten alive from a set of lights by a new SS ute this morning...my stivo has nothing till about 70kph's..need to smuggle a CAI with a set of rims..expected to lose but I got whipped.

  5. Howdy All

Got a bit of Xmas cash and need to offload it quick before the missus buys herself something 'nice', hence I'm looking at rims again, and I am still unsure of what size. If you have 18's or have tried 18's on a stivo, could you please post:

    a) What size wheel? e.g. 18 x 7, 18 x 7.5 etc

    B) Tyre dimensions? e.g. 215 x 40

    c) How much was you car lowered? e.g none, 4 cm's etc

    d) Did you roll your guards?

    e) Any rubbing/ride issues?

    f) If you could do it again (change your wheels), would you have some differently?...be serious now... ;)

Many thanks in advance to all that respond.

    Cheers,

    Glen

  6. RACQ is the equivalent of RACV and the like. Have a look at Suncorp for insurance. They insure cars with different wheels, exhausts etc. Each mod has a points value so when you accumulate a certain number of points and it goes over a particular level the your premium goes up. Simple system and actually cheaper than just cars and the like in my case anyway.

Rating one, male 30yrs no claims. Excess $350 Not sure of exact premium as it's combined with house insurance and includes another car as well.

Jewce which springs did you buy to lower it 4cm?

How much bumpier (scale of one to ten)??

  7. Unfortunately those rims arent available in shadow 17's only 18's. There is a gold 17" set for $1,000 with tyres, but aint keen on gold rims with a light silver car.

More interested in looks I guess, bought the car so I could save for my impending wedding and then upgrade to something sweeter in a couple of years.

17's appear to be the way to go....decisions..decisions..any idea what original 16's are going for 2nd hand?

  8. I purchased mine in perth 3 months ago(not too many around..especially for sale) for $23,250. Silver/ June 03 with 16,000 kms. Came with all the corrosion, paint, inside protection & sting alarm (not sure if standard).

Guy was after $25k, but not so well known in Perth which is a problem. A black one went for $24.5k recently had about 14,000 kms I understand and some 17" chromies...

I wanted a black one...couldnt find one at the time.

  9. Cheers for that. Will check whether 18 x 7 and (not x 7.5), the tyres with the set are 215/40/18. Could I ask how much you lowered the car after that? 3 cm?

Insurance company..I'm in Perth..insurance is real cheap I pay $470 p.a., much better than what I used to pay when was a lot younger and had my rex (back in the days when a 8 year old couldnt spot one purely by the exhaust note over 1 km away...)

  10. Howdy All

Although I have checked out the posts in the past week, this is my numero uno post...

First impressions of the Rolla stivo = great little car which couldnt have been even better if Toyota pulled their finger out. My mates Clio sport is evident of that but its the sixe of an echo and when my feet are on the pedals, my knee is jammed against the steering wheel...ahh well. My gearbox hasnt been the smoothest while entering 'lift' and I had originally thought that to do be my'getting used to the car' feel...it appears it may not be after all.... That aside, I was looking into upgrading the rims on my little silver surfer, I have noticed that 17's seem popular but with dropping prices of 18's, I was looking at some Apec Septik's in 18 inch with a 215/40 tyre. Any idea peoples why 17 seems to be the way to go?

Looks like there is plenty room for 18's..perhaps its cost? or maybe the reduced straight line performence?

    Your experiences/opinions are most appreciated!
