  4. Hi Guys, I am a new chum as well, have been in the Toyota car club of Aus Vic for years, but now I have two HiLux and one 75 HiAce its on club plates which I will be selling soon, it’s pretty special. I just bought another HyLux in Sydney .to replace the other one I am selling, it’s a 2001 2.7 EFI and after only 1000k’s the gearbox has stopped going into 3rd gear, it started slipping out, a few days later it stopped going in and gear travel has got shorter over a few days. I think it might be a split scincro ring or something in the linkage system, I am driving it by going from 2nd to 4th but I would like to find out find out what it might be before I pull it out. I am over 80 now and on the aged pension, I have just re-sprayed the other HiAce that I am selling first to pay for the one I just bought. If anyone can shed some light on what it could be, I am a lifetime mechanic but its been a while since I was doing HyAce Borg-Warner crown overdrives gearboxes as an OEM product direct to Toyota Australia to go into the camper vans to keep the rev’s and the engine noise down. My trusty old HyAce has one in it, you only use the clutch to start off and then all the gears are cluchtless, so it will go from standing to 140kph clutch free, I have had the speedo needle to the wrong side of the pin, it is such a fun thing, I have just built a full race 5R engine to go in it with well over 200 hp on straight gas with 10 lbs of boost through a new RB25 Skyline turbo, and inter-cooler which have all been fitted up then removed till I restored the ute, including air-con, it carries 200 ltr of gas and petrol at present till I replace the engine a fit a fourth gas tank. The Toyota club won’t let me replace the engine on club plates, if anyone is interested let me know. My original HyAce still has the steel tub and is probably the last of its type left in Australia with no rust. I will try to get some pics on here sometime.
